While the SGU ratings may be low, it's still possible that Syfy don't have any other shows available to replace it at primetime. At least no shows ready yet. Especially since Caprica got even worse ratings and is possibly the first one to go.

Well might as well post some info that might be interesting. SGU likely got impacted by the baseball game because it more male driven in viewership. Ghost hunters managed to drum up over 2.2 Million viewers Wednesday night and also went against the baseball game. Ghost Hunters tends to be more female driven in viewership. Baseball as you know is more male driven. Sanctuary has a more balanced ratio from male to female which is likely why Friday's Game did not impact it too hard.

I'm not too big on excuses. While it's true that both SGU and Baseball attract the male demo more. Even before the baseball began, SGU (and Caprica) ratings weren't that great. At one point, with so many channels, competition is part of the game and the rating goals of every TV shows is to attract more viewers to their show instead of other shows or other entertainments. I would be more comfortable if the ratings of SGU would be around 1.6 million viewers before the baseball.

i think chasing ratings is chasing clouds. world has changed. the fact that i watch stargate isn't represented in the ratings. it never was. TV ratings is not the word of god. i mean, i like stargate but my family does not. so whenever it gets to choosing what to watch, stargate always looses.

For those who are interested in the male vs female viewership. Tvbythenumbers had a great article and stats about it:

The numbers may be a bit hard to read. Lets say there's 67 females for every 100 males watching "The simpsons" while there's 350 females for every 100 males who were watching "America’s Next Top Model".

That type of statistic may give a better chance for male skewing shows like SGU (I suppose since I don't have males vs females viewer stats for SGU).

It will be interesting this week to see if Sanctuary can hold on again to its Wrestling lead in ratings. Its strange but I would think SGU, especially with Incursion like episode would be more appropriate for the wrestling audience. But Sanctuary makes a lot of sense too.
