Magnus and the team go to a bank to retrieve an Abnormal that was stashed in a safe deposit box, which not only hatched prematurely but also escaped, prompting Kate to enforce a less-than-subtle quarantine of the bank's customers. (TV Guide)

The abby was cute. Not sure what the purpose of this episode was. Hope that the rest of this season isn't like this. Usually I can't figure out what's the end result is going to be until its all over, but this was too predictable for what I've come to expect from Sanctuary.

Henry had awesome lines, Helen was cute as always, the punch was great. Kate made my day and Will? He was great too. I really enjoyed this episode :D

it was simply a bottle episode. Happens. you need them every once in a while (well not completely a bottle eps, that's kinda what last week's was, filmed all on the standing sets to save money, this was a bottle eps in the whole 'not an arc' episode definition)

After last seasons ending us the first two of this season I guess a breather episode was in order, not my favorite but fun with some good things about it.

Kate really stepped up in this episode from the start. I liked what they have done with her, she has proven that she is good now but still has that old bounty hunter/criminal skill set and it serves them all well this week.

Helen was there the whole time helping out but really utilized Henry and Kate to save the day, Will also but to a lesser extent. Good leaders bring out the best in their team and she did tonight.

Henry was awesome as usual in more of a supporting role.

I enjoyed this episode. Fun to see Magnus in bank robber/doctor mode. ;) It felt very teamy, which is good.
They managed to put the Sanctuary spin on the old bank robbery story. :)

But what the heck happened to our opening music/title sequence?! I hope this was a one time thing.

ETA: Oh, & I liked how when Magnus was doing the "American" accent it sounded like an English person faking an American accent.

I enjoyed this one very much for what it was.

Loved that Magnus' 'American' accent sounded super-fake. Totally cracked me up. How does AT do that? :)

Lots of funny lines

My roomie pointed out that after they cut the power, the phone wouldn't work. That's what you notice when you live with a techie. :P

Very nice Kate/Magnus moment at the end.

WTF happened to the theme/title sequence? Was the episode 45 seconds too long?

 This was a fun episode, it may have been a bottle episode, but the character interactions were great. I lol'd at many of the lines, enjoyed the "I knew the British accent was fake." I also loved Henry in this eppy, "I do the tech and you do the drugs" :D

All in a nice feel good eppy, not important to the new story arc, but then again not all episodes have to do with story arcs ;)

:indeed: Now that they have 20 episodes to play with they can do an arc, but also throw some stand alones in. I like having stand alone stories in the mix.

WOW, what a great episode, it had me on the edge of my seat. :D

I was very surprised to see Walter... excuse me, Gary, and Peter Flemming, and I think I recognized a couple other Stargate actors in there. I've heard some say the opening was shortened, but I didn't notice that, maybe it's different in Canada. I knew right away things weren't going to be easy for the team, and I thought it was freaky how Kate came up with the "bank job" idea. :p

One that that surprised the most was hearing Amanda drop her accent. :D It was SO cool hearing Helen talk without her British accent, I mean I could see Helen, but hear Amanda, and even Sam a few times. :D Even though Henry wasn't with the team in the bank, I thought he did a great job helping the team the way he did, and I'm glad to see that Helen gave Kate a chance to shine, and really show what she can do. :) Helen and Will working together to find the host was cool, I liked Helen's war reference. :)

Another twist was to see that a rival hunter was in there with them, the whole episode had many twists that worked very well. ;) Overall I thought it was another GREAT episode, a very well written episode, and a great team episode. :)

I'll review more in my replies. :)

Loved that Magnus' 'American' accent sounded super-fake. Totally cracked me up. How does AT do that? :)

It didn't sound fake to me, but it sounded a little different. I thought Amanda dropped her British accent completely, and used her own voice, but now I hear she was using an "American". I hope Amanda tells us what the idea was, to use her real voice to fool the hostages, or to make it actually sound like a "fake" American accent.

Me too, this made for a nice break from the Kali and its fallout storyline. This episode felt a bit like a Kush to me, though much more teamy which I liked, the character interactions really livened up what was a pretty straightforward plot, "I do the tech, you do drugs.,' 'it scares me that we're co-workers.' Hee. :P

Seeing Kate in her element was fun and loved the moment with Helen and Kate at the end, the music was quite lovely as well. Helen's fake American accent was also rather funny, esp the 'I knew it was fake' crack, I figure she wanted to come across as an 'average' bank robber to the hostages.

Didn't like the shortened titles, I really hope its only an one ep thing. :S

We've had a storyline for 4 episodes in a row now over the last several months, so it was cool to see a the show take a break and have a stand-alone episode. :) I still don't know if Helen meant to make her American accent sound fake, or if Amanda meant Helen's American accent sound fake or what. Maybe it's because Helen tried to "talk" like American, and that's why it sound so odd. :p But overall I loved hearing Amanda in Helen. :)

And yeah, someone on twitter said "I know that British accent was fake" joke was kind of a reference to people saying Amanda's accent didn't sound right. :p

But it still rubs me the wrong way how Magnus is always giving Kate props, its like: "
Hey look fans she's changing and Magnus likes her so...like her."
And I really dont.

Awesome epi! :D :D
Kate is awesome...I love her. She's wicked wicked wicked!
Loved seeing three familiar Stargate faces in there. :)
Loved Helen's "new" accent...Ma Baker she's not! Loved her use of "bl00dy hell"...that woman is one unpredictable character. :P
Opening credit music was definitely shorter...not too bad...but I still prefer the old theme. :)
Great ep...very entertaining.

Love this episode too, wasn’t as sharp as Firewall, but still very very good. I think since this was a more linear story find the abnormal-then get out of there while Firewall started in one place and ended on something completely different , this episode seemed smaller and not as epic. But they can’t all be that, I know. And as I said, still very very good.

Excellent Kate episode and once again tons of little oneliners and humor to be spliced in with the dialogue, and they all make it seem so effortless.
When I watched it I couldn’t help thinking Helen seemed a bit off at times, (not only the accent ;)) maybe even a bit out of character. Couldn’t really put my finger on it at first, but then I got the impression it was because she wasn’t comfortable not being in full control of the situation, being the control freak she is.
Yes, she did let Kate run the show and I think it was great that Kate could shine in this situation (and be very funny at times as well) but I still could ‘feel’ Helen in the background trying to desperately figure the situation out and a way out of here, and a little bit of tension building up there.
There were especially two times I felt this, once after hitting that guy (not the hitting itself, that was very Helen) but the look she gave Will afterwards, to me it read “I’m ok, I’m not losing control… really.”
And then when she snapped at Gary Jones’ character (poor guy) again seemed a bit off for Helen to do. (but in a good way, I love seeing Helen go off the rails, if ever so slightly, from time to time)

One thing that didn’t really sit right with me though was the end scene and the talk with Kate. It was bit too on the nose with the You did a good job-talk and Kate has now grown as a character and her moral standards are now aligned with the rest of team Sanctuary. To me this was already kinda done in Eulogy and Hero last season, it just seemed a bit redundant and as I said, too on the nose. Helen did sort of save it though with the “Isn’t that depressing?”

Favorite lines:
“There was this dog that looked like a cross between a Chihuahua and Satan…”
“I knew that British accent was fake!”
“Yoga it is.”

So does anyone else play the “Spot the studio building” – game while watching Sanctuary? ;) To me it’s amazing how they manage to find so many angels and view of their studio building and its surroundings. I doubt the average viewer have any clue most of it is shot in the same area over and over again.

I have to say I loved AT's American accent. It's not a proper American accent but more of a world accent from living on different continents for so many years.:p

It's been fun and was over way too soon ... now I have to wait another week for more:(
I liked the interaction between Will and Kate and Henry and Magnus (I do the tech, you do drugs). There were so many great moments in the team.
It felt kind of weird that Magnus gave command to Kate. She is usually so much in controll, she seemed a little uncertain to me at some points (or it's just my imagination)
I liked a little break from the big storyarc, but next week they can move on:D

I'm not so sure I'd say Helen gave command to Kate; she let Kate handle the police (it was Kate's strong point), while Helen focused on finding the abnormal and keeping everyone safe. Helen knew how to delegate jobs to those with the experience handling them. :) And Helen did sound like someone trying to use an American accent that didn't have one, which I found really funny :)

Even though I might be alone with this opinion, I'm quite happy that it was an ep on its own.. I thinkt it's great that they now have this really big story arcs, but as in Stargate I start to miss the team-based "little" adventures from the beginning of the series.. Now that I know they are not completely forgotten I'm a very happy camper :)

If the base station for the phone has no power, the handset can't work. Roomie is right. I've been through a couple of major blackouts here with no way to communicate other than cell phones while the batteries last. That's why some folks keep old school phones around (especially in areas where the power goes out frequently.)

You are certainly right, Helen knows how to delegate.

all wireless ones are like that. if you want one that works with the power out you have to use a plugged in wired one

All in a nice feel good eppy, not important to the new story arc, but then again not all episodes have to do with story arcs ;)

My two favourite lines of the ep. :D

I liked this episode. Last year when they did a funny ep in the ep 3 slot it was too jarring for me, after all the emotion of Ashley's death. Here it fit much better. While they were dealing with more serious stuff in eps 1 & 2 it was not as serious as last year.

I have often wondered why they substituted Kate for Ashley especially since having her as a bit of an outsider character didn't last all that long. I thought this episode was a very good use of the character and her skills.

I love that they will get to do longer story arcs this year but also like to have a bottle show once and a while. I thought this one was well done.

Loved Henry in this one. Many of his lines early in the series would make me lol. More recently I have smiled rather than laughed at his quips but in this ep it was back to lol. :D

We didn't get too much focus on Will in this ep but I liked his reactions and comments to what was going on.

I thought Helen was ultimately in control but like how she let Kate use her expertise just like she does with Henry and Will. I also loved the fake American accent.

Thought the guest cast was wonderful as well (and made me smile to see some SG1 alum in there).

Great fun. :)

This was a fun 'normal day in the abnormal life' type episode. They did a good job of keeping me guessing who the host and hunter were.
The parts with that girl who was interested in Will were kinda funny, both when she was asking Kate about him and when she asked Will what shooting someone was like. LOL.

And Gary Jones as the teller commenting on Helen's wildly fluctuating accent. :D :P

One thing that impresses me though is seeing "Amanda Tapping in..." I liked that a lot, Amanda should be above the title, and because it's like RDA in SG-1. :)

wow! i saw that it was a shorted one, but that was ridiculous! :p

*but*, i LOVED that amanda's name was still put in. and you're right (to me) about the above title sequence. amanda's *earned* that place and respect! :)

now, for my review...

i had to rewatch the ep before reviewing. okay, i didn't 'have' to, i wanted to. :p

great fun ep! :D

i'll start off with the accent topic -

mandy said: I like how her "american" accent doesn't sound like Amanda's. ;)

jckfan said: Oh, & I liked how when Magnus was doing the "American" accent it sounded like an English person faking an American accent.

amanda could have easily just done her regular voice/accent, but she instead chose to layer it to another level and make it even more. to me, this is just another sign of amanda's dedication to the acting craft. ;)

i knew right away that wasn't *amanda's* accent! :p

now, for the rest of the review:

just a fun ep. and since i didn't let myself be spoiled for anything past the very basic plot line, i didn't even know 'why' they were in the bank. so it was surprises and fun guessing (i was wrong on who i thought was 'it'), and... here's some high points -

*LOVED helen punching that guy out!! :p

a comment on that; after helen hits jerk head, kate seemed pleased, but wil didn't. why? actually, helen wasn't all that 'happy' either. or, she just wasn't proud of what she had to do? irked by the mission going from bad to worse?

*nice teaminess. :)

*i loved helen letting kate do her thing. helen was leading, that's without question, but she also let kate work her strengths to accomplish their mission. that's a sign of good leadership.

*i LOLed when kate called the negotiator out on being able to get the helicopter cleared and on it's way in 3 minutes. :p

*chevron dude and barret and window-of-opportunity actors! :p

*team magnus totally owned the bounty hunter! :p

btw, i was so off on who it ended up being (the bad guy). :p

I'm not so sure I'd say Helen gave command to Kate; she let Kate handle the police (it was Kate's strong point), while Helen focused on finding the abnormal and keeping everyone safe. Helen knew how to delegate jobs to those with the experience handling them. :) And Helen did sound like someone trying to use an American accent that didn't have one, which I found really funny :)

just yes on this post. :p

I liked the episode.

But I don't see how helen's going to get away with the bank robbery.

First of all, the cops outside will know that there was more than one bank robber.

Because they can tell the difference between a female voice and a male's voice.

And the competition knows Helen so he can point the finger at her.

So I hope there's a follow up episode to this one. But I don't think there will be.

Yeah the woman has been friends with how many presidents and everyone on down? If anyone asks questions they'll get a discreet order to forget the whole thing.

I did love seeing Gary Jones again and thought he and AT definitely seemed to be enjoying their scenes together.

I thought the ep was very good, in fact an almost textbook example of how to do a decent filler ep with great team dynamics and plot. I'm not an overall fan of Kate and rolled my eyes in places but I didn't really dislike her in this ep. Magnus should be a bit more wary of her though, considering. Although maybe we are supposed to assume Magnus is always 10 steps ahead of whatever Kate might think of planning?

I enjoyed this episode. Fun to see Magnus in bank robber/doctor mode. ;) It felt very teamy, which is good.
They managed to put the Sanctuary spin on the old bank robbery story. :)

But what the heck happened to our opening music/title sequence?! I hope this was a one time thing.

ETA: Oh, & I liked how when Magnus was doing the "American" accent it sounded like an English person faking an American accent.

LOL. I caught that fake American accent too. :)

I hated the opening sequence. The music wasn't music, just noise. And the pictures were so fast you couldn't see anything but flashes. I would rather have nothing than what they showed.

The show was OK and, bite my tongue, I even like Kate in this one. I wonder if we'll see the guy that got shot in any more episodes. Helen seemed interested in him.

This episode was amazing and very funny. The " I knew that British accent was fake" line was hilarious. Henry was great and so funny "So it's ugly and relax" and "I'm the geek, you're the doc. I do tech, you do drugs" lol, and him sweet talking his computer lol.

"She's obviously crazy, just my type." "It frightens me that we are coworkers" lol

I think Magnus was trying to sound like a British faking an American accent.

Kate: Robber. Will: Cop. That was great. I'm so glad Magnus gave Kate a chance to shine and do her thing. I love that Magnus knows her team, their strengths an weaknesses and uses to the team's advantage.

I love that Magnus and Kate knew what each other was thinking. How Magnus knew Kate
put the empty gun on her back to trick the bounty hunter and how Kate knew what Magnus was planning. I'm just over the moon that Kate shine throughout this episode, she was in her element and she was kick ass.

I like the end. The scene between Magnus and Kate I think it was necesary, not so much for the fans but maybe because Magnus wanted to pointed it out to Kate how much she has grown and change for the better. I mean to most of us it's obvious and to Magnus as well but maybe not to Kate.

I took Helen's look to mean she was a little annoyed at herself for getting pushed to the point that she ended up punching the guy. It was an efficient way of handling him, though not an elegant one that I think she would have preferred.

For Will, it seemed like surprise to see her react that way, probably reminded him a bit of how she handled Kate in EON part 1.

Indeed, Amanda definitely deserves to be above the title, she's earned that right, and it sorta sounds more "star" like. I mean, on SG-1, Rick was the biggest name, that's why his name was above the title, Amanda's the biggest name now, so she should be above the title. :) But I kinda like seeing her name like the rest of them, it shows them as equals to me. :)

great fun ep!

i'll start off with the accent topic -

mandy said: I like how her "american" accent doesn't sound like Amanda's. ;)

jckfan said: Oh, & I liked how when Magnus was doing the "American" accent it sounded like an English person faking an American accent.

amanda could have easily just done her regular voice/accent, but she instead chose to layer it to another level and make it even more. to me, this is just another sign of amanda's dedication to the acting craft. ;)

i knew right away that wasn't *amanda's* accent!

Well said. :) It would have been very easy for AT to just talk like herself, but she choose to go a step further and add a little more uniqueness to Helen. :) I'm very impressed by this, and it makes appreciate the little things Amanda does for the show, and for her craft. :)

*LOVED helen punching that guy out!!

I thought it was a slap, but yeah, it was wicked. :D I saw it in the trailer, and it would have been cooler had I not seen it already.

a comment on that; after helen hits jerk head, kate seemed pleased, but wil didn't. why? actually, helen wasn't all that 'happy' either. or, she just wasn't proud of what she had to do? irked by the mission going from bad to worse?

I don't think Helen takes pride in hitting innocent people (at the time she thought he was), so I think she just did that to shut him up, and so she could try and think about what to do next.

*i loved helen letting kate do her thing. helen was leading, that's without question, but she also let kate work her strengths to accomplish their mission. that's a sign of good leadership.

Yay for totally not suspecting it was him who had the critter inside him. I always like to guess in episodes like this - and without meaning to toot my own horn, I usually get it right. So I really enjoyed being fooled :)

Got a bit confused by Helen's american accent... I thought if she was supposed to be putting it on to fool the 'hostages' that she would keep it going all the time they were in the bank... but she kept flitting between the two... but that's probably just me :o

How about this cute guy who seemed to have a thing for Kate? I wouldn't mind seeing him again at all. :P

I rarely - okay, almost never - post here but I wanted to say that so far I'm loving season 3. Last week's episode was fantastic.

As to Bank Job, I dropped by to say I dug all the little Stargate moments. I'm not talking only about SG actors (though inside joke with Peter Flemming playing another government agent was cool), but also about the whole concept and specific little tributes.

re: concept. I kept thinking how similar it was to Bad Guys (our heroes come for a quiet, walk-in-a-park type of mission and end up taking hostages in order to complete it), only this time it was Bad Guys done right. In case somebody doesn't know, lol, I detest BG but I greatly enjoyed Sanctuary's take on it. It had humour, drama, suspense and teamwork all in right doses. And I admit I didn't know who "the competition" & the host might be. I'm usually pretty good at it but this time I guessed wrong. :D Good job.

re: small references. Will figuring out what the password was thanks to George's pic of his dog was totally a tribute to SG-1's "Chain Reaction". This one I guessed, as soon as Will asked for password I had my money on some pet's name :D there were other little things, but I can't remember them atm.

All in all, enjoyable ep. Not as good as Firewall, but a fun one. Also, I loved Kate. She's truly grown over the past year or so.

Or maybe Kate could have asked Helen what was up with the accent? That could have sparked a rather interesting conversation IMO.

Been trying to figure out a reason for her accent swapping, she seemed to be rather consistent with it being 'American' in front of the hostages all the way till Dave made it clear he was the bad guy and already knew who Helen was.
I think the accent may have been a way to confuse the witnesses so the police would gate faulty statements. Plausible deniability and all that.
Not that I doubt Helen will have any trouble sorting this out with the authorities, but holding up a bank doesn't really look good on anyones resume. ;)

well, it seems clear to me that the Sanctuary crew works in cooperation with local authorities all the time. So yeah, there needs to be a level of trust between them.

Part of that understanding seems to be that the sanctuary folks minimize collateral damage, they act discreetly, they try to obey the law, or at least not flaut when they ignore it.

in exchange, they deal with stuff the authorities just don't wanna deal with...like werewolves running through the streets :)

Robbing a bank and then slipping away, not a good thing to do.

but by delivering them the bank robber, (even unintentionally) they allowed the police to save face.

Verdun. A major battle of World War I

Her statement about working in the trenches at Verdun got me wondering whether she adopted an alternate, male identity. I can't see any other way she could have done what she said she'd done; no matter how short they were on medical personnel the Allied Armies would never have allowed a woman in the front lines in WWI.

As for Amanda'a accent here, I though she was trying to do a generic NY/NJ/Chicago "tough guy" accent, the type you hear in movies/TV.

Quick question, when exactly does Helen start talking with an American accent? I mean I was re-watching the scene with her in the vault when she discovers the egg is hatched, and her accent doesn't sound all that British. :p So yeah, when does Helen start using that American accent of hers? :)
Kinda sounds like she does Amercian in front of the hostages.

Go back to page 2 of this thread...it's explained there...something about another movie and a computer. :)

Loved when Henry said
Henry: "Oooh come on sweetpea"
Henry: "Ahh...did you guys just..."
Will: "Yeah, we all heard that"
Henry: "Awkward"
Me: LMAO!! :P

Helen's accent sounds rough...as in rough and tough...from the wrong side of the tracks which I guess is what she wants it to sound like.
Not sure I like Kate calling Henry "Hank"...juries still out on that one. :)

what you never patted your computer and said good night Baby :-)

1. Oi oi Gary - good to see you mate! :)

2. Blatent fake US accent but even 'that' seemed to waver at times. Definately caught the odd hint of Amanda/Sam.

3. This was definately Kate's show, no offence to Ashley fans but could you imagine Ashley pulling this stunt?

4. Was dead cert Grace was the host - suppose it was too obvious.

5. Yes the bounty hunter may well have pointed the cops towards Helen and crew...but what are the odds of the cops outsmarting Helen? ;)

Very fun ep! :)

i'm sure Sean (bounty hunter) said 'hey, it was them', but he was caught red handed with the money, has to explain to the police how he was gonna let the abby kill George, have the police believe him about the ferropodus, and why he locked the robbers AND george into the vault when, if he was a hero, he should have locked the robbers in, not George.

he can't tag them without incriminating himself.

and, ultimately, the only money that's missing from the bank is in Sean's bag. helen and the others technically kidnapped the rest, but sean committed the federal offense of robbery.

I think there were women nurses very close to the front lines in ww1, i mean florence nightingale was right near the front in the crimean war and that was about 50 years before

This is very true, plus most people only "hear" the official version of history. In the real world, rules, especially during a war, are sadly broken all the time. Plus, does anyone know anyone that is still alive that was in WW1? This is how history gets rewritten all the time!

i think all WW1 vets have passed. i mean the war was almost 90 years ago now, which means to be in it people would have to be over 100, almost 110

and just becuse helen said she was in the trenches in Verdun....well have an officer injured or pinned in and need someone to, oh amputate an arm to free him, they're gonna bring a doc in and they won't care if it's a he or she.

helen is such an interesting character! :)

if the series was nothing but tracing helen's life... i might have liked a show like that. :p :D

me neither. Just doing the math to think that you had to be born in the early 1900's to fight in the war (even if you were a '16 year old pretending to be 18' you'd still be born in 1903 give or take)

it's 2010

Any survivors would have to be well over 100.

I wanna say that I remember a 'last surviving WWI vet passes on' story, but i'm not sure if it's a real memory or just me thinking.

In any case, yeah, what makes it into the history books is quite often edited and tweaked and spun.

In history, women were a lot more involved in history than the books reflect. In some ways it was covered up to preserve the 'norm' that women weren't supposed to be there. In other ways, there were probably some more unconscious 'must keep them in their place' attitudes going on. where the men involved would be seen as 'less' if they had to have the help of a woman

I think a lot of Helen's involvement in history comes from her tracking down abbies and finding herself in places where things are happening. Then, because her work requires discretion, she 'fades away' and removes herself from the history writers.

It kinda reminds me of Nancy Wake but she fought in the second world war...there are some wonderful brave stories about women during the world wars...it's gonna be interesting to see how big a role Helen played in both...if not any of the others. Can you imagine her in Korea with the 4077 MASH unit?? :P
IIRC, we had a WW1 vet die only a few years ago...I'm sure he had attended his last ANZAC parade a few years ago...he enlisted when he was just a kid. Like a lot of boys who died, he lied about his age. It was much easier to do back then. Nowadays, you need so much ID to get into the armed forces, it's not funny.

If anyone is interested, I had some free time on my hands, and I put together this vid of all time times Helen talked with an American accent from the episode. :D
Sanctuary Bank Job- Helen with an American accent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ondeg-d1zko)

The one thing I don't like is that Helen is in almost every frame, and yet out of the 3 options I got for a thumbnail, she wasn't in 2, and she's barley in the one I used. :(

Harry Patch was "The Last Tommy" and he died in 2009 aged well over 100, there were a few documentaries about him in the UK. At this point I've just accepted that "Helen was everywhere and knew everyone" as a part of the show's conceit. I'm waiting for the world event she was not present for but was enjoying tea and gossip with the housekeeper during. ;)

Women have been seeing combat, combat support and other issues of war since well before they were accknowleged as having done so in the last 20 years, so I have no problem assuming. Has anyone seen "Female Agents" a french film based on a true story about an all woman team behind enemy lines before D Day?

Me too! I'd love to have her say something to Will like that.

Magnus: "No, I did not go to the '36 Olympics. I was much to busy capturing a rare supercalifragiloctopus and dealing with complications of fire elemental molting."

Will: they molt?

Magnus: Yes, but only under stress. We had to undertake a major remodeling project after that incident. Luckily we've since developed proper fire retardant materials...

*raises hand at back of classroom*

I watched this ep last week and I have to say ... I really enjoyed it. :)

Full disclosure: I gave up on Sanctuary after watching a few of the webisodes. It just didn't click. I did tune in for Michael Shanks' ep later on (I'm such a Daniel girl ... :)) and thought it was okay but it didn't hook me in. (Although, how lovely was Michael and Amanda's greeting on screen ... squee!). So when I tuned in this time round, I wasn't expecting a) to know what was going on (I sort of figured some of it out but was confused about some things, naturally enough!) b) to enjoy it very much (I did, what do you know!).

This show has obviously come a long way since my first look. What I really liked was the teamy, affectionate and humorous interactions. The storytelling was solid and nicely paced and, for the most part, it looked good. It seemed to me as if great care was taken in its production.

Bottom line? I'll be taking another look. The choice at live viewing time was SGU or Sanctuary, by the way. No contest. ;)

I'd appreciate being pointed at a Sanctuary 101 (Sanctuary for the newbie) and some hints at eps to watch that will give me a real feel of what it's all about in terms of the overall story.

Tuesday night viewing just got interesting. :)

OH Lord almighty, can't believe I didn't put in my two cents before this...what's wrong with me?

Anyways let me just say that it's Sanctuary's own fault I fell behind, I got so caught up in the episodes and re-watching I just lost track. LOL

Overall this episode was fantastic, but most Sanctuary's episodes are in my humble opinion :) but this one especially so. Not just because it got us away from the Kali storyline for an episode, major story arcs are fun folks but sometimes you just need fun sillness for fun silliness's sake! This episode was fun though because the team dynamic was FANTASTIC, beyond fantastic really. Everyone had something to do, everyone played to their strengths and in the end it all worked out; though I admit I would have loved to know how the Sanctuary dealt with the witnesses explaining about the robbers who disappeared unless since no money was missing they just dropped it and no one was seriously hurt? :mckay:

Kate really shined in this episode, yes we know bank robbery it was going to be one of her skills but still this episode really let her shine in her natural element and showed her how vital Helen counts on her expertise as well. How much they really do trust her to have their back so it was nicely done.

My favorite interactions in this I have to say were between Henry & Helen, they were just too funny. As so many have said the 'no, no, no, no. I do tech, you do drugs' scene was just HILARIOUS!!!! Respectful but HILARIOUS LOL

Will was a bit of a 'fuddy duddy' in this episode but then again that was his job, it's why Helen hired him for his insights and outlandist theories and to be a sounding board and back up and he surpassed his position for sure. It was nice to see him more like himself before the whole 'died' thing overall!!!!

Have to say for the record when Amanda dropped her Helen accent I thought my ears were broken the first time I heard this episode LOL  I was like...WHAT, are my ears broken or what? What's going on here, come on folks. But she went back and forth so seemlessly it was truly a sign of GREAT acting!!!!! If that had been me my tongue would have been in knots for weeks after. LOL

Here in the US we got the shortened opening and again this last week as well since I'm a week behind here or was, I know in Canada others said they didn't. Has anyone asked/gotten an answer as to why that it's short in the US? Is it cause so many folks complained about the new opening sequence they chagned it or what? :mckay: Just a question incase anyone has heard and I missed it somewhere. I like the old opening just fine, not a fan of shortened themes. Didn't like it when they did it on SG1/SGA at any point either.

GREAT work on this episode though Team Sanctuary, FANTASTIC so keep it up for a long, long, long time please.

I really enjoyed the first four fifths of this episode. The problem really came with the ending for me. It just didn't ring true. It seemed much too easy for them to escape(the fbi didn't cover that exit?) and then the villain's actions too seemed false. Taking the money seemed a stupid risk when he could likely escape by continuing to pretend to be a hostage.

On the plus side Kate got some excellent screen time and i thought Agam really brought her A game to the party. Enjoyed the comment about Helen's accent. I thought the good samaritan guy was a well played ruse. Enjoyed Will's smitten love interest but would have been fun to see him having to resist further amorous advances from her. A 7/10 episode imo.

I loved this episode. Poor old Walter from SG-1, and especially Kate as the loveable thief. She reminded me of Amanda in Highlander or Valla. Always an enjoyable character to watch!
