    location of Atlantis S7/8 ?

At the end of season 7, they are still wondering where Atlantis might be.
However, on "Prometheus Unbound" (S08E12) it seems they already sent an expedition to Atlantis in the Pegasus galaxy, and the Prometheus is going on a rescue mission because they have lost contact with it.

So, when did they finally learn the location of Atlantis?
    Did I miss an episode?

Actually, it was in Season 8 that the expedition went to Atlantis, and toward the middle of the season when the Prometheus was going to try to find it. Since the SGC had the gate address, which Daniel discovered while at the Antarctic base in "Rising", they likely also had the location for a ship such as the Prometheus to travel to. They had used the only ZPM on earth at the time in order to establish a wormhole from earth to Atlantis, so the expedition could go through. Elizabeth said that it was likely going to be a one way trip. So the only way for a rescue would be to go by ship - thus the mission on the Prometheus.

Elizabeth was head of the SGC for two episodes in Season 8 ("New Order" 1 and 2), and then she went off to head the research at the Antarctic Base. While there, the gate address to Atlantis was discovered, along with its location in the Pegasus Galaxy.

If you watch SGA, "Rising", you should get most, if not all, of your answers.

They found it in Stargate: Atlantis, not SG-1.

        It goes:

        7.21-22 "Lost City"
        8.01-02 "New Order"
        A1.01-02 "Rising"
        8.03 "Lockdown"
        A1.03 "Hide and Seek"

Etc etc. So the Atlantis Expedition departed in early season 8 of SG-1, at which point contact was lost because they had no way to dial home and we had no way to dial them. The seasons then ran concurrently (8/1, 9/2, 10/3). Contact was not re-established until episode 17 of both seasons in that year (8/1), in Atlantis' "Letters From Pegasus".

Yes, you missed an episode. Specifically, the series premiere of a spinoff show which resolved SG-1's search for Atlantis. People will tell you to alternate your viewing between the shows and provide episode listings. Ignore this, it is unnecessary. All you need to know while watching the eighth season of SG-1 is that just after "New Order, Part 2;" a team of experts at the Antarctic outpost found the location of Atlantis in the Pegasus galaxy. General O'Neill allows them to use the ZPM to power the Stargate for an intergalactic one-way trip to Atlantis. This is how the spinoff show, Stargate: Atlantis, begins. During the 8th season of SG-1, the Atlantis Expedition is on their own. In the 9th and 10th seasons, there will be some minor crossovers. The big crossover episode is 10-03 "The Pegasus Project." You can finish out SG-1 without having to watch Atlantis. Just stop by when you have questions.
