Here is the Intro to the Season 6 RPG.

-------------

Sitting in the chair control room with Rodney McKay by his side, John felt like he was coming home, even though he’d technically never left it. Earth had been fun, especially the part where he didn’t die saving the planet, but it was nice to come back with the intent of finishing what he’d started. Rodney interrupted his train of thought. “Kinda like coming back after a vacation, huh?”

Sheppard raised the corner of his lip as he sat on the control chair of Atlantis, their weeklong journey back to Pegasus finally complete as they now dropping into orbit of a new planet, far away from both Lantea and New Lantea, John felt like calling it New New Lantea but Woolsey had vetoed it instantly. It was only time before the naming craze started and Sheppard wasn’t looking forward to it. “This is work to you?”

Rodney shrugged as he worked on his tablet, feeding Sheppard all the information he’d need to land the city on the ocean. “Well I’m several million light years from the nearest Tim Hortons so yes, this is work to me.”

“Tim Hortons?” Sheppard furrowed his brow. “You mean that coffee shop?”

“Yeah.” Rodney noted that they were just about ready to begin their descent. “Why you know it?”

Sheppard nodded. “Base in Afghanistan had it, good stuff.” Before Rodney could reply, Sheppard activated communications. “Mr. Woolsey, I’m ready to begin our descent.”

“Excellent. Do try and keep us in one piece, Colonel.” Sheppard rolled his eyes and kept his snark to himself. They needed to start this new mission out on a good footing.

Rodney didn’t have that feeling though. “Oh don’t worry Woolsey, Sheppard’s a pilot, not a Doctor.”

Carson’s voice cut in irately. “I heard that. Expect a physical sooner than you think.”

A few chuckles were heard throughout the city, and Sheppard finally took in a deep breath. “Hang on, this might get a little bumpy.”

Reclamation RPG

Carson sighed to himself as he reorganized his desk. The landing had been rough on impact with the water and his stacks of paper were in disarray. He swore to get back at Sheppard later on, but now he had more serious concerns.

“You know, you could probably digitize all that paperwork. Save you a lot of time.”

Carson sighed, he didn’t need this right now. “I’m sure it’d be quite simple to scan in several hundred if not thousands of pages, Dr. Mckay.”

Jennifer laughed and covered her mouth. “Oh god… I’m never going to get used to that.” She moved from her position on the jamb of the door and sat down in front of Carson. “We’ve got a lot of work to do soon. The retrovirus is going to be our top priority now.”

Carson nodded and drummed his fingers on the desk. “There’s still problems with it, we will need to do more testing, hopefully we can convince Todd to assist us.”

Jennifer pulled a face. “Let’s hope, he wasn’t that cheery the last time I saw him.”

Carson raised and eyebrow. “Oh?”

Reclamation RPG

Sheppard pumped his fists in anxiety. Something told him things were going to be rough coming back but nothing said that more than the way Teyla looked as she came through the Stargate with Major Lorne’s team. He moved forward to see them. “What is it?”

Teyla looked up at Sheppard and sighed. “They’re gone. Culled.”

Sheppard gritted his teeth, it wasn’t odd for villages to get culled in Pegasus, but it still got to him. “Any survivors?”

“None.” Teyla rubbed her forehead, Sheppard could see she had a headache.

Lorne added. “We still have the Coalition to hit up. Maybe they can tell us what’s going on.”

Sheppard nodded and looked up to Woolsey’s office. He wasn’t looking forward to telling Woolsey what the situation was sizing up to be.

Reclamation RPG

Ronon growled softly and kept his gun’s holster clasp open. In a moment he could snap it up and take out the two rifle armed Genii ahead of the group, but the others in the woods around them would be more difficult to hit. He watched with curiosity as Woolsey moved forward to meet the Coalition leaders.

He’d seen this sort of thing before, an attempt to unite against the Wraith. It was futile. None of the Coalition had the technology to fight Hives, and even the Genii could barely build nukes.

Sateda had tried to form alliances once, it quickly led to massacres as the Wraith found out soon and smashed their combined forces. Ronon had only been a child at the time, but the warriors who’d come out of that battle alive were hardened beyond belief.

With Atlantis and the Earthborn’s help though… perhaps the threat of the Wraith could be eliminated. He wasn’t too sure on Carson and Jennifer’s idea of using the retrovirus, but in the end of it all, he still had his gun, he still had his sword, and if the Wraith didn’t follow through…

Sheppard stood next to him, his hand hovering above his P-90. “Relax Chewie, just a meet and greet. We’ve got backup remember?”

Ronon smiled, cloaked jumpers indeed made for a great surprise if needed. But seeing the Coalition leaders greet Woolsey without over hostility,

Reclamation RPG

Waking up this time was different, unlike the hibernation, it wasn’t a restful awakening that gave him great energy, this just felt like he was waking up from being unconscious.

“Hold him up!”

He felt a pair of arms hold him up from the sides as he fell forward, but summoning strength from inside, he brushed off the aide and opened his eyes. He was still on Atlantis, and there were at least a half dozen soldiers with guns and stunners pointed at him. Woolsey stood in front of him and nodded. “I assume you’re well rested?”

Todd snarled and stretched his neck from side to side. It’d literally been months since last feeding, but the stasis chamber had kept him from wasting away for the majority of that time. He still wished he’d gotten a chance to taste another Milky Way human, they were so much less stringy than Pegasus’. He didn’t acknowledge Woolsey’s question, and tried to make out the situation.

Were they going to let him go? Were they finally going to kill him? No, they wouldn’t have revived him if they just wanted to kill him. They only would have brought him back if they needed him… that meant they were back in Pegasus, away from their homeworld.

He looked around, and smiled upon seeing him. “Ahh.. Sheppard to what do I owe the pleasure?”
…
…
…
Reclamation RPG

Note to players: From here, the expedition would tell Todd that the Wraith have gone back to fighting themselves in the interim from EATG to the present, approximately 7-8 months. They’re culling without regard for each other or keeping the stock up, in survival mode basically. Todd and Woolsey would come up with the plan to put Todd back into power in the Wraith to calm them. Better the devil you know. More research done into the Retrovirus as well.

They would do this by dressing Teyla up as a Wraith Queen again, but they’d have to infiltrate a Hive and claim it in order to have credibility with the other Wraith.

While that’s going on, Sheppard and others would investigate other Pegasus humans and find out that the Pasgard (Pegasus Asgard) have been abducting more people for their genetic research. Possible connection with SG-1 here and Daniel. Check out a few villages, get clues, eventually find out that the Pasgard have been looting worlds for Ancient technology they've been adapting to use themselves. Possible realliance with the Travelers who know the galaxy better than the expedition.

<Atlantis ~ San Francisco ~ 3 weeks ago>

{Lieutenant General Jack O'Neill}- {Richard Woolsey~ NPC}
The trip from Colorado had been delayed, Strom was called back to DC at the last moment which pleased Jack no end. So it fell to him alone to bid Atlantis and her personnel a last farewell from Earth. Her numbers had been bolstered with people from all over the world, civilian specialists and military. Jennifer's medical team was given a boost with the addition of one of Earth's top combat surgeons, Captain (Navy) Doctor Anne MacGregor. Of course she insisted that Jennifer would still be CMO, Anne would simply be there as a surgeon and adviser until she returned to the Milky Way fleet. It was Jack's own recommendation and Doctor Keller welcomed it warmly, having worked with the Australian Doctor once before.

Standing in the control room, Jack faced the assembled crowd who stood in front and around Atlantis's gate. John Sheppard, Richard Woolsey, Teyla and Ronon stood nearby. He had his coms link on and in touch with Oddysey, high in Earth orbit at the time.

"It gives me a great feeling to have the honour of seeing you all off." He started. "Not that I don't like having you guys here." He smiled. "In fact I kinda got used to my office here." He looked at Woolsey. "But the time has come, and for now I bid you godspeed and goodluck."

He shook as many hands as he could and at the last he spoke to Woolsey. "You know Dick, we've had our differences, but it turned out ok didn't it. I only wish you could be there with me when I return to DC and face this international assembly." He shook hands firmly.

"General, if I could, you know I would, but for some reason Strom doesn't want me around. He thinks I've gone over to the dark side." He chuckled softly which surprised Jack, he never saw the lighter side of the Suit, often.

"I'm ready when you are Oddysey." Then he was gone.:jack:

{Jennifer Keller}

Jennifer ran her fingertips lightly over the tablet's surface, highlighting the salient points. Points she wanted to take to Todd, because while he'd been in stasis there had been developments. She knew he wasn't going to just acquiesce, and help them just because she was on her way to ask. Well, that and make certain a prolonged period in an Ancient stasis chamber hadn't scrambled his brains. Or something...

"You might want to take this, Doctor."

A nurse handed Keller her stethoscope, and she took it with a certain amount of resignation. There really was no way out of this, and she had to undertake a full medical. Like it or not.

"Thanks," she murmured, the tone not entirely convincing, for either party.

Thing was, it wasn't as if she was going to be closeted on her own with a Machiavellian predator; she'd have one or two marines there as well.

{Doctor Anne MacGregor} - {Jennifer Keller}
After having been cooped up on the Apollo for almost three weeks, Anne was so glad to be able to breathe real air. She had a briefing with Richard Woolsey and John Sheppard to bring her up to speed and then sought out the one person she knew on Atlantis. Leaning against a wall after an SF allowed her in, she watched the young woman who had been under her tutelage a few what seemed short years ago. "And how is my favourite student doing these days." She said softly, not wanting to startle Jennifer in any way.

Keller started, and turned at the sound of the voice intruding on her thoughts. "Oh, hi Anne. I didn't hear you come in." The younger woman allowed a warm smile to form on her lips, and she gave a small shrug. "How am I? Fine, fine..." Catching MacGregor's eyes, she added truthfully, "Not precisely looking forward to the medical ahead of me. Todd can be... well... very condescending." She nodded at the tablet in her arms. "Kinda hoping this will stave off some of the snark."

Anne came and hugged Jennifer warmly and stepped back. "My you're quite the doctor now aren't you. Mr Woolsey and Colonel Sheppard told me wonderful things about you." Anne looked into the holding cell and the unfamiliar figure of the wraith within. "He's a handsome one isn't he, for my first Alien encounter. Now from all I've read how they feed, it's essentially the essence of human life force, which as you remember Jen, is mostly sourced from our proteins and carbohydrates. The wraith do have an intestinal system, which goes into dormancy after puberty. We can restimulate that with a cocktail of essential amino acids and a high protein mix, and infuse it into him whilst he's asleep. Am I on the right track so far?"

"Thanks, Anne, it's real good to see you too." Jennifer cast a look over the unconcscious Wraith, as she spoke, and frowned. "Handsome? Yeah, I guess... never really considered it." The younger woman considered the cocktail MacGregor suggested, and shook her head. "In all the trials I've run, and those Carson undertook, it remained obstinately dormant until a modified version of the retrovirus was introduced."Looking a little rueful, Keller added, "We can try it, as it's more than likely he'll be ready to feed on whoever is unlucky enough to be around, as well as being in a major pissy. Believe me, I've seen it."

Anne looked deeply at Todd apparently sleeping or feigning sleep, then it hit her like a brick wall. She was often cited as being somewhat of a heretic in medicine and surgery, but that heresy had proven itself over and over again. "Jennifer, during my debrief on the Gamma base, I learnt about Carson Beckett's research on the the Iratus bug, I presume he still has tissue samples on ice?"

"There are," Jennifer agreed.

Turning from Anne, she placed the tablet on the work bench and walked to the tall freezer that stood in the corner of the infirmary, and beckoned the other woman over. She opened the door. revealing the carefully stored, and neatly labelled rows of samples. A few had Beckett's untidy scrawl across them, but more showed Jennifer's much neater hand.

"After we discovered the lab belonging to Michael, I did a lot more work. As you can see." A wave of her hand encompassed the entire bottom three rows. "It was this version that partially succeeded, even if it did give them cancer."

Anne looked at the samples until she found one that was pure and not touched. "Basic DNA chemistry 101 Jen. Give me an hour and I'll extract the prime DNA that equates to the Wraith genome. A diluted strain and mixed with our enzyme and protein cocktail, will give him the wakeful boost he'll need. For all intensive purposes he'll believe he has had a nice and satisfying feed." She lifted the petri dish out and walked over to a lab bench, found the necessary instruments and switched on a digital microscope. "Jen I'll need perhaps ten mililitres of isopropyl if you have some handy." Anne spoke as she placed the dish under the lens.

Ronon leaned against the door post, he saw that Teyla was a little upset. They had just returned from their last fruitless mission, another empty settlement, it was starting to get on everyone's nerves. He ambled in and sat next to her. "Hey" he said quietly and put his arm around her.

"What do we do now, Ronon? We cannot keep on searching blindly. There is nothing there. Just... nothing. Every world..." She did not finish, there was a lump in her throat.

Intriqued, Keller handed MacGregor the chemical she required, and returned to examination of the tablet. There had been a few anomalies in the last tests she'd run, things that the computer didn't like in the simulations. It probably meant she would need to make further adjustments to the base pairs, and that was work that could really do with a fresh influx of Wraith DNA. There were some things in the redundant parts of their DNA she was really interested in, and might hold the key.

"How's it going, Anne?" she asked finally, nerves finally getting to her and wanting to get to the Brig sooner rather than later.

Anne finally lifted her head, she was sweating and it showed, a little strain creased her eyes. She removed her glasses and handed Jennifer a small vial of yellowish liquid. "Done, it won't be anything like the retro-virus and it's affects might only be for twenty four maybe thirty six hours at best. But he'll not be wanting to sate his hunger for at least that time until you can get him a safe way from Atlantis. That is unless someone wants to volunteer for his next meal." "C'mon, Anne. I know you want to meet this guy and I know for a fact you'll find him real interesting."

She didn't look back, as she knew MacGregor was right behind her, and they headed off down the corridors towards the Brig.

Anne followed her newly re-acquainted friend done the bright corridors, something itched at the back of her head. "What would Will do?" The thought crossed her mind. "Probably just shoot him." A reply came back. "No he wouldn't. He'd most likely try and make friends with him and ask him if he played cards." Another answer laughed in her head. She shook the thought from her and drew beside Jennifer. "Do you remember Professor Tanaki at Hopkins Jen?" She asked. "He was the most brilliant bio-chemist I ever knew, I wonder if he could solve your retro virus conundrum?" Anne pushed her hands in her pockets, she saw several SF's and she wanted to avoid saluting if she could. She was a doctor here, not a Naval Captain and with that thought, she withdrew one hand and whipped her cotton duty cap off and stuffed it in her pocket.

I remember your argument was that some very few patients needed to be eased into, and that the after surgery sickness was lessened by doing so. It took a young woman throwing up all over me, to show me traditional logic can easily get thrown out the window." They waited for the door to open. "Come on then Jen, lets see how our patient will like his candy." Anne beemed a very wide smile and replaced her glasses.

Jennifer saw Todd's gaze flicker over her in recognition, and he gave a grave nod of acknowledgment to her, but remained silent. She chewed on her lip, and looked away, feeling colour stain her cheeks under that very exacting look. "This is Todd... well... that's what Colonel Sheppard calls him."

From her small height Todd seemed almost a giant to Anne, but she was never one to bow to overly large males, no matter what species they were, she removed her glasses and pocketed them, and decided that to show a little authority her utility cap might help her seem something more than what she appeared, a five foot two mouse approaching an over large cat. Her combat boots gave her an extra inch and a quarter, so in her mind she checked herself, "More likely a rabbit than mouse." She stood a respectable couple of feet from him. "Hello Todd, my name is Anne MacGregor, we think we might have something that would interest you."

Todd unwound himself from the chair, and regarded the speaker with a lack of interest. To be frank, he didn't care who this diminutive female was, or what she had to offer, and he looked past her to Keller, speaking over her head. "Dr. Keller, how delightful," he rumbled, his voice deep, laden with multiple tones and sarcasm. "Please, tell me you have finally reached a solution to my... ah... problem?" A shark's grin stretched his mouth. "Ah, but I see from your expression, you have failed." His feet rocked beneath him, and he growled, irritated by his weakness. "And as you have failed, again, I have to wonder why it is you've woken me?"

"It seems my manners must have deserted me during my extended visit with your compatriots while I enjoyed their... hospitality." He spread his hands to the side of his body, and stepped away. Jen show him what we have, and I have the formulae on this USB. It's not perfect nor is it a cure my friend, but it does offer some relief for you until Doctor Keller can proceed to the next level." Anne stepped over to a computer terminal and plugged in the USB. Appalled Anne actually touched the Wraith in such a familiar manner, Jennifer nodded at him and found her voice. She looked at him with measure, for some stupid reason, she saw a familiarity in him with her missing son, she couldn't say what it was. But his Alien creature, had that same air of confidence about him. Anne spoke to the SF's. "You can leave now corporal, airman. We'll be alright."

{Jennifer Keller} - {Todd} - {Captain/Dr. Anne MacGregor} - {Dr. Carson Beckett}

Jennifer had already started the preparation as Anne finished speaking, and with the help of Carson had the concoction mixed. Just as she turned, Todd's large form came up behind her to observe the small task and she stared up into his face, recognising the intense, hungry look he wore, as the one he had when most intrigued by a new idea. He was still too close for comfort, though, dammit, even if he had better table manners than some Wraith!

"An injection?" she suggested, a little breathy with nerves, but Todd gave a small, sharp nod of concurrence.

"You will need to inject it into the conduits leading from my feeding orifice," Todd said, and rolled up the utilitarian jump-suit's sleeve to expose his forearm. A line of swirling, black tattoos almost seemed to mark a path. "Swallowing it, while I'm certain the sensation will be interesting, would serve no purpose."

The look he gave Jennifer was one of grave amusement, at whose expense she wasn't certain, but she swabbed the area he indicated and pushed the needle through his tough skin. Satisfied, she removed the sharp, and placed it in the small container on the table. "Hopefully, you should find the need to feed will begin to recede over an hour or so..." Hesitating, she chewed on her lip again. "This is untested, so -"

"I am the experiment?" Todd laughed, a deep bark of appreciation. "So you have no idea if this... brew will work, and you are working from supposition." He slanted his head, and scolded Jennifer mildly. "Less than I expected from you, Dr. Keller, in terms of your expertise - " Todd turned to eye Anne and Carson, weighing them both up, calculating - "but as these two others are an unknown quantity, perhaps I can continue to expect such shoddy scientific research? Killing the subject of an experiment almost immediately can colour the results, especially if the control group is one."

Carson stepped beside Keller and looked over some of the data that she'd uploaded. "Hmm," he said to himself out loud as he looked over it. He aided in getting the dose ready for Todd as the Wraith waited.

At Todd's insult, Carson chimed in "I'll have you know that she's working off of my research. We've learned a lot since I began working years ago to find a way to circumvent the Wraith's biological need to feed on humans. Suffice it to say, I've looked over Jennifer's work and - you'll live. The premise was interesting, but erroneous in a number of areas but he was loathe to point out the issues as he saw them. At the moment he felt he needed to keep these potential enemies on their toes, and was not yet ready to reveal his own disquiet. They had woken him, given no reason for it, and yet expected him to comply to their demands without question. Playing to their dislike of him ensured any response was real, and he could take their measure that way. Yes, he was alive, but for how much longer?

"Where is John Sheppard?" he asked at last, feeling the need to speak to the one human who would be straight with him. "I need to talk to him."

Jennifer straightened, and looked at the Wraith, meeting his gaze frankly. "He's... busy -"

"Unacceptable," Todd snapped, and returned to his seat. "McKay?" The expression on her face made him rumble with frustration. What could he do except wait? "I see he is busy too."

The Wraith Commander set his shoulders back, and shook his mane of white hair. "If you must, Captain." The words were tempered with hard-won patience, but if it allowed the female to feel in control, then it was a small offering. "Yes, in the RNA, here and here, the polymerases have been inhibited by exposure to an outside agent, and that will give rise to mutations, probably the cancer-like disease I and my crew experienced." Todd ran his fingers swiftly across the keyboard, making rapid adjustments, and highlighted them in red. "Now, Captain, I'm sure you agree, this adjustment in the base pairs will improve the action the retrovirus will have on inserting itself into the genome." He shrugged. "It's crude, at the moment, but..."

"Oh..." Jennifer leaned forward, and traced the helix, fascinated by the symmetry. "That really is something to work with, Todd." All species difference was forgotten as scientist reasserted itself, but a stifled snort from the Wraith drew her attention back to him. "You don't agree?"

"There is much work ahead, if you truly wish for this... treatment to succeed, Jeni-fer Keller." Todd turned his attention back to the monitor and the puzzle.

Doctor Beckett, this is your area of expertise, is it possible to isolate the fragments of Wraith and Human pairings, from the Iratus DNA?" She lifted her head for a moment there was something she remembered but couldn't quite put her finger on it. Something to do with the research she had read on Michael's experiments. "Jennifer, do you still have the files on Michael?"

"Of course, Anne." Reluctant to tear herself from the options the new variables suggested, Jennifer reached into her kit, and fished around in the bottom of it to pull out a USB stick. "I kinda thought these would come in handy." She gave a wry grin to Carson, almost an apology, as she loaded the small storage device. "I've been looking over your work recently, to see if there was anything we might have missed."

Typing her access code into the computer, Keller opened up the relevant files, and perused them carefully. It was a fascinating experiment, but it still sent her into a spin of ethics that usually ended with her biting her own ass. Aware of the interest directed at her screen from the other parties at the terminals, she was suddenly self-conscious, as reams of her additional notes and observations from many simulations showed up on the screen in vivid pink. Such scrutiny from three extraordinary minds made her uncomfortable, and she shifted under Todd's regard, in particular.

"Impressive, Dr. Keller," he murmured, a modicum of respect in the deep tones.

Fascinated Anne leaned in closer, the research though pushing the boundries of medical science, not to mention ethics, was still no less glorious to her inquisitive mind. Sitting back straight, Anne cross linked the data to her terminal and began running permutations and another round of simulations. Then it hit her full in the face, excitedly she hugged Todd next to her. "Protein binders." She exclaimed. "The human DNA strands unwind because the Iratus ones are cancelling out the natural binders. Here." She showed them and began a short discourse on something she worked on not so long ago.

"There is a class of multivalent protein binders was designed to overcome the limitations of low-affinity therapeutic antibodies. These binders, termed "collabodies," use a triplex-forming collagen-like peptide to drive the trimerization of a heterologous target-binding domain. Different forms of collabody, consisting of the human single-chain variable fragment, fused to either the N or C terminus of the collagen-like peptide scaffold 10, were stably expressed as soluble secretory proteins in mammalian cells." She took a breath and plowed on.

"The collabody consisting of scFv fused to the N terminus of collagen scaffold is present as a homotrimer, whereas it exhibited a mixture of trimer and interchain disulfide-bonded hexamer when cysteine residues were introduced and flanked the scaffold. The collagenous motif in collabody is prolyl-hydroxylated, with remarkable thermal and serum stabilities. The collabody erb_scFv-Col bound to the extracellular domain of epidermal growth factor receptor with a binding strength 20- and 1000-fold stronger than the bivalent and monovalent counterparts, respectively. The trimeric collagen scaffold does not compromise the functionality of the binding moieties of parental immunoglobulin G; therefore, it could be applied to fuse other protein molecules to acquire significantly improved targeting-binding strengths. We can produce a multivalent protein binder using a self-trimerizing collagen-like peptide scaffold." She finally released her grasp on poor Todd.

{Dr. Carson Beckett} - {Todd} - {Captain/Dr. Anne MacGregor} - {Jennifer Keller}

Carson had a growing feeling of dislike for Todd as the minutes went by. There was a time when he felt compassion for the Wraith species, but that time had passed long ago. To keep from interacting with the Todd as he asked for Sheppard and then McKay, Carson decided to continue to scan the data that Keller had uploaded while he was at a workstation with her and Dr. MacGregor. Then, vaguely, he heard the Wraith use his name. It took a moment for the question to register as Carson was brought back into the discussion.

“Yes,” Carson said as he looked toward the creature, but not at it. He could feel his patience waning. This is going to be a long day, he thought to himself as he turned his attention to the data again. A moment later, the additional terminals and computers arrived for use, and Carson got up and watched as Todd uploaded the data from the USB stick to the other 2 computers. He then took a seat next to Dr. MacGregor after the two ladies settled themselves in. He was glad that Todd was couched between them. The farther away, the better.

Carson listened to Todd and Dr. MacGregor’s exchange with interest as he looked on thoughtfully. When Dr. MacGregor asked him about isolating the fragments of Wraith and Human pairings from the Iratus DNA, he felt like she had read his mind as he was just thinking about that. “Well, it’s tricky but it can be done...” Carson furrowed his brow, deep in thought as Dr. MacGregor asked Jennifer for the files on Michael. He looked up as he started to elaborate on his answer when his eyes caught those of Jennifer. He gave a small nod and smiled back as if to say that it was alright, and that he understood that this was a necessary part of their work.

He regretted his experiments on Michael, and all of the havoc that this one creature had reeked on the galaxy. It seemed like every time the retrovirus was tested on Wraith, it ended up having an undesired and unplanned effect on humans. First, there was Elia who took an incomplete form of the retrovirus and then infected Sheppard, nearly changing him forever. Then, there was Michael who exacted his revenge by turning the tables and making Carson the test subject and prisoner, as well as the Athosians that were made into slaves, and the galaxy that had been terrorized by him... This was Dr. Beckett’s chance to try to get it right this time. He was determined not to see this effort fail. Carson pressed on and elaborated.

“Isolating the Human DNA is not that difficult because it’s recessive just like the Iratus DNA is recessive. As we all know, the Iratus DNA is more prevalent, and what this will mean is that the process won't be forgiving - not even a bit. However, the Wraith DNA, which is a much stronger hybrid compound of the other two, is the dominant DNA structure. One mistake there and we’ll see structural problems in core DNA sequencing. Since the DNA and RNA are both found in the nucleus, there’s always the possibility of bleed through RNA damage that could cause an impedance to the necessary amount of genetic information that is transmitted.” Carson took a deep breath. “It’ll be a balancing act, but it can be done.”

By this time, Dr. Keller had the files up on the computer and Carson began to read over her additional notes. Most of these observations were not new to him as he had the misfortune of being forced to continue experimenting with the retrovirus as well as the Hoffan virus during the nearly 2 years that he was held captive, but there were a few things that were new to him because Michael kept a tight watch over his work, and only allowed him to go so far before taking over for himself and switching Carson over to a new task.

He heard Todd’s compliment to Dr. Keller and echoed the sentiment. “Yes, it is. This is very thorough Jennifer. It‘s nice to know that you‘re as detailed as I am.”

As Anne cross-linked the data to her terminal, Carson followed suit. As he began working on the data, he heard Dr. MacGregor’s moment of eureka and smiled. “Of course! It makes perfect sense that stronger bonds are needed for the human DNA to stay in tact since it’s the weakest form in the overall structure, but the missing part was how. Still, there’s the issue of manipulating the Collabodies to only target the Human DNA and pass over the Wraith and the Iratus DNA. Since the natural protein binders for the Iratus DNA already have a propensity to cancel out the natural binders for the Human DNA strands, it’s imperative that we get this right. If we don't, then we could end up with a situation where the weakest DNA structure is destroyed, and the strongest is made even stronger. There is no margin for error.

"Now the Human DNA, once fortified by the Collabodies will be fine, but it’s the interim that I am concerned about. While the fortification is in progress, the Iratus DNA will still have the advantage in its attempt to cancel out the protein binders of the Human DNA. If the Iratus DNA is able to cancel out the natural binders of the Human DNA faster than the Collabodies are able to fortify the Human DNA, then we’ll still have to deal with the same problem. The only benefit will be that the cancellation will occur at a slower rate, and thus give the subject more time before the structural integrity of the Human DNA fails. The subject might live since the Human DNA is the weakest of the three. If this is the case, then the Collabodies that were intended for the Human binders may be able to adhere to the Wraith DNA because of its Human properties. If this happens after the subject survives the collapse of its Human DNA structure, then we might end up with something akin a what a Neanderthal would be in comparison to regular Humans - only this is the Wraith we are talking about. And the possibilty for defects would be high because we would be administering the treatment to an adult Wraith. My guess is that it would probably look like what I’d call a primitive Wraith with more pronounced Iratus bug features - and perhaps even stronger powers with the need to feed still fully in-tact!” Carson could see the way he felt about this reflected on Jennifer and Anne’s faces.

“I think that this may provide some additional insight into how Michael created those creatures that Sheppard and the team encountered on the planet where the Taranans were massacred by them - him,” he said bitterly. “In fact, I’m sure of it. The process, on a genetic level, must have been the same. Teyla had it in her mission report that Michael told her the process by which he created them. He used to take pregnant Iratus bugs and let them feed on humans. The bug would lay its egg while the human DNA was still fresh in its, and therefore the egg's, system. The Human DNA would have its natural protein binders stripped away, or cancelled, by the Iratus DNA's lecherous qualities and for its own benefit. It's a case of survival of the fitest. But the Human DNA would still be there in its base form, and therefore incorporated into the developing embryo. I'm thinking that this would have been the stage in development where Michael made his manipulations, as it would have been the optimum time to do so...”

He took a deep breath and stiffly shook his head like he could shake the thought of it out of his mind. He continued as he tried to ignore the peaked interest of the pale green foe that sat patiently between the two women. The look of amusement written on Todd’s face was hardly inconspicuous. It irritated Carson because he knew that look all too well, and it never meant anything good...

“Like I said, it’s a balancing act, and we can’t afford any mistakes. By the time we’re ready to test this on a Wraith, it needs to work perfectly - or else...”

@Marilynrose I hope I did okay. :o I tried to keep up with you. Let me know if I didn't do something right for the game because I don't know how much liberty I'm allowed to take with the story we're telling... :o Thanks. Oh, and you did great. You're a tough act to follow!:)

"Add in chemotherapy?" Jennifer said, and began tapping at her console, as another idea occurred to her. "We could use nanites to deliver the therapy, really target it, so it's a magic bullet." Enthusiasm sped up her adjustments, and she said emphatically, "We need Rodney to work on the nanite programming, because it's delicate work."

"I believe," Todd growled, still recovering from the unexpected hug with a human, "I will be of assistance to Dr. McKay as I have some experience in that particular area." He cast a look over the smaller woman to his right, and murmured, faint censure in the words, "Dr. MacGregor... Anne, whilst I... ah... value your enthusiasm, notification of physical contact would be appreciated." Green-gold eyes fastened on the screen again, and he addressed Jennifer. "The toxicity will remain high, and while I'm certain you have no problem with the number of Wraith this could kill, I am unwilling to deliver it to my people unless it is further refined."

"We can refine it if you don't steal it," Jennifer said sharply, reminding Todd that the therapy he'd taken had been less than finished.

A sharp grin broke across Todd's features, and he looked a Keller as he shrugged. "Ah, Jenni-fer, you still hold a grudge against me for that?" A throaty chuckle followed, and he added, "It did result in much needed data and the deaths of many Wraith. I would think you'd term it a success." Aware of the Scot sitting away from him, Todd purred, "Iratus DNA is dominant, as you know, Dr. Beckett, but in the redundant, the junk DNA, you will find there are indications of much greater similarity in our genome than you suspected. I feel certain it is something we could work with to help tailor the retrovirus even better."

Jennifer threw a sweet smile over to Carson, but could see how troubled he was by the presence of Todd. The Wraith had really managed to rub him up the wrong way, and Todd knew it, of that she was certain. Being an arrogant SOB came with the territory, but she dealt with another arrogant SOB all the time - Todd was no different to Rodney in some respects, though he did seem to have age on his side, and the ability to see both sides of the coin. When he chose to, and if he chose to.

"Thanks, Carson," she said. "I knew you would see the benefit of this straight away."

Todd swung round on his stool to gaze at the human, and slanted his head to the side as he observed him; his earlier words had had the desired effect, but he recognised brilliance in any species. Even human. "Dr. Beckett, I understand your reluctance to have anything further to do with Wraith, but this will profit the human race, will it not?"

@Isolde Did I do something wrong? :o I have a post in mind to put up, but I want to get your feedback first since you're used to doing this. The reason why I have the Wraith DNA as the Dominant DNA is because from the little I know about genetics, whatever has both/all tends to be dominant/stronger. Like when conception is the case. Women are X-X and men are X-Y, and since men have both X and Y, they tend to be considered the stronger sex - although there are many women that can totally kick any guy's butt! :P Also, the same thing goes for eye color. Blue, green, etc., are recessive genes while brown is dominant because it incorporates all colors... So my thinking is that the Wraith DNA came into existence millions of years ago when some Iratus bug fed on a human/ancient at the right time and somehow the egg incorported the Human DNA. The Wraith DNA came about as a mutated combination of some of the best genetic aspects of both DNA forms, and then it evolved into the Wraith. However, both DNA forms are still present in their natural (recessive) states in each Wraith.

That's what I was thinking off of the top of my head when I wrote my long post about it for Beckett. But, we should probably work out how this works for the story. IDK, what do you think? Should I change my post?

{Dr. Carson Beckett} - {Jennifer Keller} -{Todd} - {Captain/Dr. Anne MacGregor}

Thanks Isolde! You've got some great ideas about the science! :) Marilyn, we decided that the Wraith DNA made more sense as the core DNA structure (especially when you consider the retrovirus). Please send us a PM and let us know what you want to see happen too. :)

Dr. Beckett‘s smile back at Jennifer didn‘t last long before a deep, raspy voice cut in. Carson listened and knew what Todd was doing. He knew he wanted him to say it - again. He wanted the correction. He wanted to remind Carson of his trials and particularly of his errors. “Yes,” said Carson. He hesitated to use his name in the same way that Anne hesitated to call Todd a “friend,” but he understood the need for pleasantries and manners. Michael hadn’t taken that away from him...

“...Todd. The Iratus DNA is dominant to the Human DNA, but not the Wraith DNA. The Wraith DNA is dominant to both. I understand this as well as you. And just to be clear here, I know what you’re doing.“ Todd opened his mouth to speak, but Carson cut in with a tone of defiance in his voice. “You’ve been over my notes on Elia. Initially the retrovirus had the opposite effect than was planned, and Elia began to devolve into ... something. At the time it was very unfortunate, but it helped me with my research. And our research is why you don’t need to feed on us right now.”

Carson could sense Dr. MacGregor shift uncomfortably in the seat next to him. Dr. Keller looked down for a moment. He could understand their discomfort. After all, they were sitting right next to the thing. He had to let Todd know that he wasn’t going to be pushed around - least of all by a Wraith - not after what he’d been through.

Still, he knew that Todd had his own story. He remembered when Sheppard told him about how Todd gave him his youth back when he didn’t have to, but even that didn’t override Carson’s understanding of Ronon now. He finally understood what it meant to want to see an entire species extinct for the benefit and survival of your own. Was there ever going to be a way to co-exist with the Wraith? Even the thought seemed unfathomable - laughable. At one point in time he’d hoped for it, but now... Nothing was as simple as he wanted it to be, not even his resentment.

Carson finally noticed the fixed stare of the Wraith observing him. He plainly stared back into the black and green-gold eyes that seemed to understand something about resentment, about torture and being held captive... Todd began to speak.

A flash of humour lit his eyes, and he added, "That is, unless you have any other captured Wraith, of course."

Jennifer looked up, met the amused regard of Todd, and twisted her fingers in her lap. "It would be useful to have new samples, Carson."

"But not too much, hmm?" Todd cautioned, as he rolled his sleeve up again. "I'm not convinced the injection has been entirely successful - " and he gazed at MacGregor, who was now returning the look earnestly - "as I feel quite... odd."

"What do you mean...?" Anne began to say, and leapt from her stool as Todd slumped sideways to the floor. "Dammit, get those SF's back in here, Jennifer."

The Wraith had hit the floor with a thud, and lay crumpled, his skin shining, damp with perspiration. As Keller ran to the door to get assistance, Anne knelt beside the big alien, and checked his pulse.

Just as Carson was about to give an irritated reply back to Todd, he saw the tall figure slump to the ground. Dr. Beckett jumped up and knelt beside him, facing Dr. MacGregor. He looked him over as Todd raised himself up to a sitting position on the floor. “Looks to be a histamine response to the treatment, but the regenerative nature of your body is compensating. You’ll need a few moments rest, but you should be fine once the swelling goes down completely.” Carson threw a reassuring look over to a panicked Dr. Keller.

Just then, he heard Dr. MacGregor's query and looked to see her fumbling with her ear piece. He held in a light chuckle and reached over Todd for the ear piece while Sheppard‘s voice was booming out of it. “Here, let me help you,” he said to Anne. As he took her ear piece into one hand, he clicked open the comm line on his own ear piece with the other. He noticed that Jennifer was so focused on Todd‘s well being that she had forgotten to respond. “Aye, Colonel Sheppard. This is Beckett. Todd is recovering from an injection. Give us a few minutes and we’ll be on our way.” He then clicked on the mute feature while leaving the line open.

Carson quickly showed Anne how to operate her ear piece while Todd rapidly recovered. Dr. Keller gathered their computer tablets and checked their packs for travel. Soon, everyone was ready to head out of the door.

"No," Ronon growled, his hand on his weapon. "It's not."

Teyla calmed her friend's battle lust with just a pointed look.

"No, we do not think it is a good idea. But if you think it would help us work out what is going on, John, then, grudgingly, yes." There'd been no signs of culling on the planet, and she guessed Todd wouldn't find any either, but of course, even with her senses, she still wasn't a Wraith.

"What's the plan?" The Satedan asked. Even though he wasn't looking forward to have the Wraith on the team, he trusted Sheppard enough to go along with it.

He nodded at Keller, to indicate he was fine, and rose fluidly to his feet. "So what does my brother have in store for me, I wonder?"

Jennifer let go of Todd's arm, and scanned him. She could see Anne do the same, but what the hell they could do if he collapsed on them again, she didn't know. "Good to see nothing affects your sense of humour," she said primly, and glared when he snorted a laugh. "You are such son-of-a-b*tch -"

Zelenka shook his head "I have important things too you know, and i dont like going off world"

Mckay dismissed him with a wave of his hand "Yes yes yes we know that, your worse than Carson"

"Look, Todd," Keller said, and made an attempt to justify the situation with the peeved Commander, "you can't blame us for being cautious. Would you give us weapons?"

Stony faced, Todd said nothing, for at this particular juncture it would serve no purpose at all. Hatred. He knew he could best every challenge the Wraith threw at him. He'd been a Runner for too long not to know that.

When Dr Keller broke them up, the Satedan simply turned away with one last, battle-lusted look. There were too many people around, just too many variables to get in the way of a clean, neck or torso, shot. But then again, Todd would probably survive anyway. Or would he? Even though Anne had passed through here a little earlier after arriving on the Apollo, she still drew her breath in. It was a wonderous marvel and she couldn't help her look of amazement. She found herself standing in the clear now, next to the overly large Satedan, well to her tiny frame he was. "Truly grand isn't it? Anne Macgregor." She said as she held out her tiny hand.

{Lt. Colonel John Sheppard}

John knew he was in for a dressing down so why not make it worthwhile he thought. At two kilometres from the city's main spire, he pushed the nose down hard increasing his velocity. In the cold winter airs, a white turbulance streamed out behind the Jumper. There was no sense of speed of course, the inertial dampeners took care of that, but his instruments indicated he was doing about 1,600 kilometres and hour. "Nice, that'll do." He thought. He aimed directly toward the control room outer balcony, he twisted the Jumper side ways and streaked past clearing the structure by less than a hundred metres. "Ah yes Mr Woolsey, confirm talk." John replied.

The thunderous roar that shook the tower and rattled the glass panes, almost to breaking might have thrilled some, but one man was not amused at all. He waited as the grey Jumper settled in front of the gate. The rear door opened and a moment later John appeared. Rodney greeted him first.

"So how was it?" he asked.

"Great Rodney, and no you're not naming it." John saw the teams had all assembled and looked up at the top railing to see Woolsey standing there with his arms folded, a crease on his brow told John that he was going to get an earful. But with what has been going on lately, he didn't really care.

<Atlantis> <Control Room/Gate Area>

{Todd}

Todd merely absorbed the looks and comments being cast in his direction with a growing sense of disappointment. Did these humans really think he would be stupid enough to try to attack them in some way when they were all armed and he was not? While the Satedan's response was entirely predictable, he had expected something perhaps a little more trusting from the others. Obviously he was wrong so he remained silent, the slow flexing of his hands the only sign of his discontent.

{Captain/Doctor Anne MacGregor}

She looked up at his scraggly face, despite his demeanor and outward appearance, Anne sensed an underlying gentleness in him as well, she was not happy though about the tensions in the air. If things got out of and between the Wraith and the Satedan, it would make life miserable for everyone. Forever the mother first, she put herself between these two full grown adolescents. She released Ronon's hand and turned to Todd just a few feet away. "You two remind me so much of my brothers, always fighting, but in the end, one of you may one day have to make a choice between hostility and saving each others life. There is a common thread between you, you're both too blind to see it at the moment."

She left them standing there, hauled up her backsack and walked over to the jumper and began to examine it. Running her fingers along the sides, feeling the texture of the Ancient's handiwork.

{Ronon} -- {Teyla}

It left Ronon shocked, what MacGregor dared to say. Common ground? Common ground?!? Was she delusional. There would never in his life be anything in common with him and the Wraith. He guessed she had never really seen them in action, had never experienced being sucked the very life out of you. Not even with all her medical knowledge. It was one thing to know how it worked, it was quite another to experience it.
Ronon just stood there, thinking about the words the doctor had said, and their implications. She had no idea, hadn't she? To her, Todd was just some weird... alien.
And what about his years of Running? Not until Beckett had removed the tracking device out of Ronon's back, had he known freedom again... What would she think of THAT little bit of intel?

No, there would never be ANY kind of common ground. Ronon was one hundred percent certain of it.

There were some raised voices between Sheppard and Woolsey in the background, and he picked up some kind of conversation between MacGregor and Todd, but he ignored them, still fuming with anger. How dared she.

Ronon looked up, for some reason he now stood outside, on the balcony, just overlooking the ocean below. Maybe he should just stay here and be done with it, with them. But he knew he couldn't. If he was to be the only one of their little group who knew what the Wraith really were, what Todd really was, so be it.

He went back inside, and almost bumped into Teyla.

"Are you all right?"

"Yeah." And he left it at that, not wanting to share what had gone on in his mind (although Teyla would probably have some idea). Ronon went over to a spot from where he had Todd in his sight. It was easy enough to find that booming, sneering voice. Didn't they see?!

Teyla hovered around him, there but not there, and he appreciated it. She always seemed to know just what to do, and it calmed him.

Having voiced that, and earned an irritated look all of her own, Keller made after Anne, keen to talk about the mission and what their role was to be. All she hoped was that he wouldn't decide on theatrics when they went planet-side. That sort of thing could mean one of them got damaged, and she hated filling out paperwork.

As Rodney sidled in beside her, she gave him a smile. "You have no idea how pleased I am that jumpers have inertial dampeners, if that little show was anything to go by. Throwing up is never a good thing."

From this position he watched the interactions of this disparate group of humans unfold around him and decided this was far more entertaining than spending time in the brig by himself.

Interestingly the tensions generated by his presence were far more palpable among the male members of this little party than the females who, with the exception of the Athosian, seemed far more at ease around him. But in the absence of a direct challenge to his presence from anyone but the Satedan he remained silent, just watching in amusement as his fellow travellers jockeyed to sit as far away from him as possible and smiling benignly at anyone who looked in his direction.

He was a little surprised when the scientist who reluctantly took the seat opposite actually spoke to him and decided the man deserved a response. "Doctor Zelenka, you are here to provide assistance to Doctor McKay I imagine?"

Listening to what Karina had to say, Jennifer felt she couldn't add anything of worth. At the moment she served no purpose, and she was totally aware of her absence from the infirmary. If it hadn't been for the issue of what they were to do with the kids, that's where she would have been.

"Mr. Woolsey." Keller called the base commander's name over the top of the others conversation. "Look, I'm sorry to interrupt, but we have got to find somewhere for the children." Taking a deep breath, she swept on and answered his earlier question. "I have no idea if the Genii have a ship, as I was too far away from the rest of the team when the amubush started. Karina might have the intel on that."

A silence fell in the small office, and she fidgeted, nervous, hoping she hadn't overstepped the mark. Military matters were sometimes an enigma to her, and she always felt uncomforable about swinging the conversation towards what she saw as important.

Richard heard and thanked him, then continued. "Jennifer, where there any indications these Genii were responsible for the attacks on Baku? our intelligence is sketchy, but we believe they possess a ship now."
He thought there might be a link here so he turned to Karina. "Major Fothering, now can you tell me what happened with the Apollo, how was Colonel Davidson injured?"

{Major Evan Lorne}

"Yes sir." Evan said as he sat, not able to help the small grin that crossed his features as he watched Woolsey with the little girl. He'd never pegged the IOA's watchdog as a man that took well to kids and could say that he was pleasantly surprised.
If anything, he was glad the kids were doing alright. They'd been through a lot and needed some friendly faces and comfort zones.

He sat in silence, listening to the conversation, his eyebrows furrowing at the thought of the Genii and their own ship. Things only got worse when he learnt that his CO was still out there and that two Aurora class ships had been added to their ever growing list of threats.
Watching Fothering, Evan could she was somewhat troubled by the choices she'd had to make. It was never easy to leave people behind, even if more lives were at stake.
"You did the right thing, Major." He looked directly at her, hoping to ease some of the burden she may feel. He could have said how he'd have done the same thing, but from his own experience that never really had the right effect unless it came from someone you admired or respected. And quite frankly, he couldn't even recall ever having seen the Major when he was stationed at SGC.

<Infirmary> - <Command Centre>

{Lt. Lyall Benedict}

Lieutenant Lyall Benedict had been in the Infirmary for the past week, having been victim to the Pegasus version of the flu. He'd been discharged a few days ago and told to 'take it easy' until a nurse or doctor gave him the green light for active duty again.
And he seriously, seriously, wanted to go back to work. He'd been bored out of his mind, not allowed to do more than lay in bed and read all day.
He'd informed the nurses countless times of this fact, to the point that they were all just as glad as he was, when they declared him fit and healthy enough to go back to using Wraith for target practice.
And then the Apollo had started beaming injured men and women down.

He wasn't sure what he should do as, while he was technically still on sick leave, some crisis had occurred and sent everyone into a working frenzy.
Lyall decided it would be best to check in with Cadman and let her know that he was ready to take up arms again and was about to radio her for her location when the radio crackled to life and Chuck's voice came through, the request making Lyall's eyebrows raise. He rarely ever got called to Command and it was usually to see Sheppard about SGA3's newest mission.
Already moving towards the nearest transporter, he clicked the comm and responded"Roger. I'm on my way."

After all the hassling going on down in the Infirmary, Command felt somewhat less energetic, with all the technicians, pouring over their laptops and panels and the few odd Marines on duty just standing around.
Walking past a few techs, Lyall gave Chuck a quick two finger by way of greeting and came to Woolsey's door, knocking and walking in.
He stood at to attention as he looked at the bespectacled man "You wanted to see me, sir?"

Evan turned his head as the door was knocked, watching Cadman's 2iC walk in and couldn't help but note that he looked a lot more healthier than the last time he'd seen him. Which had been a week ago, just before the Lieutenant gave everyone in the cafeteria a first hand view at what he'd had for breakfast that morning. It was safe to say that Evan had lost his appetite for the rest of the day.

{Dr. Jennifer Keller}

Listening to what Karina had to say, Jennifer felt she couldn't add anything of worth. After all, she'd been crawling on her belly to get a decent view of the cave the kids had holed up in, and trying to talk them down.

He held the little girl more closely as she fell asleep against him, "...will sow the seeds of Baku's revival." Richard looked up at Evan and Benedict both. "Major, I've arranged for another of Colonel Hasluck's combat teams to assist you. As the Apollo might be delayed in returning, I need you to take a jumper to Baku, along with the Marines and Lieutenant Benedict, so that he may rejoin Laura Cadman. Doctor Keller, I ask this only if you are able, it is your choice. I'd like you to accompany Major Lorne after you've made the children comfortable. Karina waited patiently for Woolsey to finish his orders. His question to her before about unusual readings was niggling at the back of her head. She was certain there had bee something, but in the attack it had been pushed from her mind. So she waited in the hope it would come back to her. Luck it seemed, was on her side as the answer reared its head. The Major cleared her throat. "Sir, you asked about he Ancient ships that attacked us, well the energy signature of the ships was more similar to an Asgard energy pattern." She looked around the room at Major Lorne and the others before back to Woolsey. "With your permission sir, I'd like to return to the Apollo as soon as possible and oversee the repairs. Tapping his coms rapidly. "Chuck, as soon as we're able, contact the SGC, I will have an urgent transcript for them soon."

I don't know what will come of this, but our first priority is to get our people safely home, hopefully we can at least achieve that today." He settled back into his chair and wiped his brow, something told him it was going to be a long night. {Dr. Jennifer Keller} - {NPC's}

The question Woolsey posed about going back to Baku required no thought on Jennifer's part. "I'm more than willing to head back," she stated, firm in her resolve. "If you'll give me an hour to get the children to the Athosians, and ensure their comfort..."

Jacinta began to cry, wrapping her arms around Keller's leg. "Plleease, don' leave us... plleeeasse..."

Many of the kids, emotionally overwrought, began to cry, some remained silent, stifling their grief while thick tears rolled down grubby cheeks. It was too much for them. Keller's own emotional response thickened her throat, and she gazed hopelessly at Woolsey, going for some help. None came, as he, too, seemed affected.

All the adults in the room looked alarmed, and Jennifer crouched down, holding Jacinta against her body. Addressing Rolf, she said, "The Athosians are our friends, and they will take care of you. I have to go back, for my friends, to help rescue any more of your people if there are any left." She appealed to the boy, so young, so brave, who trembled in an effort to control his feelings. "I need you to take care of them for a while longer, Rolf. Can you do that?"

Rolf nodded, a jerky movement that hid his distress. "Yes."

Holding out her hand to the boy, Jennifer took his when he reached to her. "You are an amazing kid, Rolf." Keeping a tight grasp of Rolf's hand, and Jacinta within her other arm, she looked up at Woolseyin an appeal. "An hour, that's all."

{Major Evan Lorne}
{Lt. Lyall Benedict}

Lyall glanced around the room, every space that he could sit on was already taken, not including the floor. But he was pretty sure there was something in regs about doing that during, what appeared to be, a briefing.
Instead of shooing one of the kids off a chair, he fell into parade rest, hands neatly clasped behind his back while he listened to the conversation at hand.
He was proud to say that he managed to catch most of it, being distracted for but a moment or two at which he pulled a funny face at a few children.
At the mention of going along to rejoin his team, Lyall had to take a minute to realize that SGA3 had left on a mission without him. And it wasn't like he could feel bad about them not having told him, knowing them they probably had and he was just so out of it, what with the flu and the medicine he'd be doped up on,that it just didn't register.

Major Lorne sat up a bit straighter as Woolsey spoke directly to him, nodding in acceptance at the news of a team of Marines joining him to bringing Sheppard and his team back.
"Sir, I'd like it if the Marines stocked up on some extra ammo for this run. The Colonel's team are probably low on rounds and we might need all the firepower we can get if we have to protect some more refugees." Evan gave his request a moments thought before adding " And an extra batch of C4, in case the Genii do have a ship." It never hurt to be prepared.
Though even he doubted they could prepare well enough for a run-in with the rogue Asgards. The fact that the whole mini-war in space wasn't his battle, didn't make his gut clench any less. The Milky Way Asgards had helped them so much, considering their race as hostile felt so weird, but he wouldn't hesitate to open fire if he came across one. Even if these rogues had a sad story, it was his people or them. And Atlantis, Earth would definitely win that one.

As the children started to cry, Evan found himself with the urge to hug them as he would whenever his sister's kids started crying. He' reached out a hand and gently ruffled on of the childrens' hair, giving as many as he could a reassuring smile. He didn't need to comfort them with words, Keller already doing a fine job of it, so he opted for a "Don't worry. We'll bring back the doc and any more of your people we find, safe and sound."
The problem with making a promise with kids, is that you had to, by all means, keep to it.

Pulling himself to his feet, Evan glanced quickly at his watch, noting the time "Lieutenant, go ahead and get yourself geared up."
"Yes sir." Lyall nodded at him before looking at the other occupants "Mr. Woolsey, Major, Doc." With a brief nod of the head to each, he left the room, taking the stairs down to the transporter. To think that his first mission back would be to rescue his own team.

Evan barely waited for Lyall to leave before turning to Keller "I don't know if you're planning on taking any equipment with you, but if you need something carried, radio me or the Lieutenant and we'll drop by to assist."
He was rather glad that they were getting a doctor for the mission. They had no clue how bad things were on the planet and basic medical training didn't always cut it, so if it meant that he'd be lugging some heavy Ancient machinery, then he wouldn't be complaining.

Immediately, she set about checking the status reports on the repair work so she could judge how long before they were fully operational. Though the next problem she had would be how to contact Larrin. Having finished up a few last minute problems, Evan was in the Armory, stashing another block of C4 into his tac vest and grabbing a P90 from the row on the wall, just as Keller's voice reached his ear.
"Back already doc? Yeah, just head on up to the bay, Benedict and the Marines should be waiting."He clicked the weapon to his vest, grabbing a bit more than the standard amount of rounds "The gear you requested should be loaded. And if not, feel free to snap at them to move it. I'll be up in a min. Lorne out."

Clicking his com off, he proceeded to fill up a few empty pockets with grenades and 9mm ammo, taking a step back to pat himself down as he did a last check.
With a final tug at the P90, checking it was secure, he went for the door, letting his hand glide over the ever glowing crystal, the door closing behind him with a soft sound and made his way to the transporter.
Pressing his desired location, Evan blinked at the usual moment of disorientation as he was transported from one place to another.

Lyall grabbed the last bag, a red cross shining clearly on the black cloth, and passed it to the Marine standing in Jumper 5, who in turn swung it up onto the rack above him and secured it tightly.
The Lieutenant flashed the man a smile, a thanks for his help and turned his eyes to his watch.
They still had ten minutes till they shipped out and a few minutes ago he'd felt the vibration of an establishing wormhole, which meant Keller should be back.
Lyall was eager to get out. Not just to be going on a mission, but to rejoin his team. He already felt a bit odd about his first mission since being sick to be with another team. Still, he hadn't been on a mission with the Major or an entire team of Marines before, not counting his own, so the excitement shone in his eyes, even if it was a grave situation. He liked to see the positive side of things.
"Looks like we're almost ready to go. Just the Majo-" He cut himself short as Lorne came into view, giving the man a short nod "Sir."

Evan nodded in return, his eyes drifting over the Marines and the Jumper, noting how everything was packed in nice and proper.
"Sir, we're stocked full and ready to go." Sergeant Grayson stepped forward from his team.
He gave the man a nod and spoke to them all"Alright, Doctor Keller should be up in a second and we'll head straight out. Check your equipment now, while you have the time." Evan headed into the Jumper and sat down, the machine coming to life with a gentle buzz at his single thought of 'On'.

Banking the little craft, he pointed her nose towards the pier, and burned through the atmosphere, giving her full throttle. The whine of her engines reached through the hull, and Atlantis grew steadily larger, the water around the city covered in caplets.

"Approaching now," the Wraith barked, bringing the dart into position, aligning her sleek form on the surface of the peer.
