J.J. Abrams Gets a New Robot
J.J. Abrams (Lost) and his Bad Robot banner will produce Boilerplate, the story of robot soldier set in the early 1900s.
According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has attained the rights to the character conceived by graphic novel artist Peter Guinan.
The film will tell the story of Boilerplate, the world's first robot soldier. Peter Guinan's unique blend of science fiction and history has the robot mixed up in all sorts historical events, such fighting alongside Teddy Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia. The character was created in 2000 by Guinan and featured in the 2009 graphic novel, Boilerplate: History's Mechanical Marvel, which shows the brave robot depicted in art stylized in various 19th and 20th century forms.
