I don't think I've ever seen anything science fiction from the 50's.

    This is difficult.

      Books or movies, or both?

When was Podkayne of Mars written (not that I think Podkayne is a particulary admirable character)?

If you have seen movies like Forbidden Planet and such that's the 50's

        I'm thinking specifically of movies.

            That's more like it.

What is amazing is that Ann Robinson is in the middle of this war and her hair never gets messed up or out of place, must be time always to make yourself look good

            Same for the others listed.

This is pretty much half of the scifi movies from the 50's I've ever seen

There is also Anne Francis from "Forbidden Planet", Dana Wynter from "Invasion of the body snatchers" and the stunning Allison Hayes from "Attack of the 50ft Woman".

I think that's all the ones I've seen involving a main female lead.

OMG and Allison Hayes was gorgeous I don't know why her husband chose that other woman? I mean she was nice but not a patch on the other woman, Honey Parker...... Played by Yvette Vickers

Did I watch "The Summer of '42"? Yes. It's been a really long time, though. I saw it with my sister, who was mad at the woman for using the kid to have sex. I sort of agreed with my sister, but at the same time was sympathetic because the woman just lost her husband and was likely not thinking all that clearly. But I also was sympathetic with the teenager, because he had such a crush on the woman and she was his "first". That's as much as I remember about it right now.

I was under the impression he wanted to have it off with her..

You don't see any sex scenes though. In fact you don't see an awful lot in this movie and I to tell the truth got bored half way through the movie. I have never seen it in its entireity.
