Anyone thought Franklin was behind the door not opening in the beginning? This is of cause without hindsight of the ticks.

I get where you're coming from. That kinosode with the practical joke war, and maybe the door issue was an expansion of that bit of fun. I thought about it for a second or two...

It was the tick causing him to hallucinate. Franklin has ascended to a plane of higher existence. He's with our ancestors now.

No way, he only bribed Riley to escape at the end of Sabotage

yes I was also thinking it could be franklin, until the other characters started having weird hallucinations and the ticks showed up

My bets are on Riley having him stashed in his quarters for some nefarious reason...

I didn't see how franklin returned from the chair.

Did he so called ascend?Or did I miss something?

reddevil18

He didn't. What the frak are you talking about?

globex
May 16th, 2010, 03:01 AM
well that's what I read on the forums here on GW. Someone here mentioned it. But how did he disappear and then reappear without any clue as to how he returned?

reddevil18
May 16th, 2010, 03:08 AM
What the frak are you on about? He didn't reappear.
Were you hallucinating as well, while watching the episode? I suppose that watching it while high might have enhanced the experience, making it worthwhile, but still...

Was he not in the chair was he not? Did he not freeze? And told everyone kernel Young to leave the chair room?

reddevil18
May 16th, 2010, 03:10 AM
Was he not in the chair was he not? Did he not freeze?Yes. And then he disappeared. Vanished into thin air. Poof, he was gone! But, again...WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? He didn't reappear after that.

The only mention of Franklin is in the "mess hall" when the dude "with the snake in his arm" says
Col. Young has call off the search for Franklin.

Franklin is still MIA.
You must be confusing Volker with Franklin.(they are both a bit overweight cientists but played by two very diferente actors)

almost every single poster in this thread has missed the point of it ughhh

The OP know franklin is gone

The OP knows it was all the tics

He is asking that when you first saw the door act strange did you think it was franklin inside the ship messing with systems or something AT THE TIME not with hindsight.

my answer yes I thought that at first

The problem comes from two threads having been merged. The OP of the second thread (How did franklin return?) which was merged into this one mistook Volker for Franklin.

Yes. After reading some theories about Franklin possibly being a part of the ship and being able to influence the ship's personality in some way, that was one of the first things I thought of.

Having not read any spoilers, things only started making sense when the ticks were discovered, and the first time I saw Scott up and walking around, I realised that a bunch of people were hallucinating.

Yes, I thought the scene with Scott being hit on the head was real - and was surprised when medical help wasn't called for immediately as I expected him to be fixed up right away. Scott isn't going to die any time soon (that much is obvious) and yet he seemed to be lying on the floor with blood dripping out of his skull. Wasn't sure what was going on at the start :)

It looked real to me too, and I guess that was the intent. I was laughing pretty hard, that it was a lame way to exit a show. Being hit in the head after you [email protected]#ed and dumped a girl. lol. Very deserving. Come to think of it, every girl's nightmare is to be dumped straight after a quickie. I'm waiting to be corrected.

My thoughts (as noted earlier) were that Riley had rigged the door as part of some practical joke war, and that he was going to claim Franklin was responsible as a means of messing with folks. I think that would have been a nice counter-balance to the rest of the events of the episode.

So far, no nightmare's over getting dumped, even in that way.

OK, let me explain. NO ONE THOUGHT THAT FRANKLIN WAS BEHIND THE DOOR. FRANKLIN DID NOT REAPPEAR

I believe the hallucinations have become contageous to forum members. Rational thought went out the window a while ago. :)

I imagine it would have been a weird sight from Reillys POV.

He must have already been in the corridor when Volker opened the door initially. Volker then pressed the buttong again and the doors closed.

Then the doors would have started to open then close up again (when Volker double tapped the button).

Finally he hears Volkers voice over the comms asking for help from anyone and then frantic banging on the door.

It would explain why Reilly was acting a little weirded out when he showed Volker that the doors worked.

As some before me noted:

This thread has the wrong title!

It should be: Volker messing with the door

Somebody should really change this! That's the reason why some posts seems not to have any meaning ;)

You take the cake dude! The title is fine as it is. In the previous episode people were speculating where Franklin disappeared to, and one of the theories was that he had become part of the ship, meaning Destiny-Franklin could control the doors and FTL at will.

This is purely entertaining speculative fandom theories and got nothing to do with what actually happened!

I still say it was a great opportunity for Riley to start a ghost haunting the ship type of practical joke scenario...

Or he could just offer to open doors for Volker, you know.. since he has so much trouble opening them himself.

Maybe. However, Riley strikes me as a guy who would find just offering to open doors for Volker to be too simple a gag. Riley would likely spend hours adjusting doors so they would not open for Volker, and then ALWAYS be there to open them for him. That would be the sort of challenge he would like.

G.

Ya know it is still possible that Franklin was behind the door, trying to send Volker a message. The hallucinations only placed imaginary walls infront of Volker to box him in. Coincidence? Who knows.
