    Black Widow (Marvel) - News/Discussion/Speculation

'Definitely possible': An Iron Man Black Widow spinoff

We just left the press conference for Iron Man 2 in Beverly Hills, Calif., about which we'll be posting more in days ahead, but one tidbit of info that came out of it was confirmation that Marvel Studios would love to do a spinoff movie centering on Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow character.

"Definitely possible," said Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in response to the question. "Yes, absolutely."

Johansson's character debuts in Iron Man 2 and nearly steals the show from Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow in a couple of scenes while showing off her impressive martial-arts skills in others. And she also happens to look fabulous in a black catsuit.

Scarlett Johansson On The Avengers and Black Widow!

In an interview with Alive: Sydney that focused mainly on her personal life and diet, Scarlett Johansson also answered a few more questions about starring in a Black Widow solo movie as well as The Avengers and commented once again on wearing the costume!

Are you ready for the Black Widow movie?
I would absolutely love to carry the legacy of this character forward. She has a really complex background; there’s a lot to explore there, and certainly she’s a part of The Avengers historically.

Did you feel comfortable in your costume?
The costume wasn’t bad. I mean it was sort of terrifying at first glance, it was absolutely terrifying. I mean, wow, it’s tight. But once you were in that mode it’s time to kick some ass. You put it on and you’re like oh, it looks good. You worked for it.

Scarlett Johansson to star in solo Black Widow flick? Yes, please!

Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige has confirmed they're in discussions to have Scarlett Johansson reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff for a stand-alone movie. Sexy ... or suspect?

Marvel announced a while back that they're planning on making films starring some of their B-list characters and internet wonks went bonkers trying to imagine who'd get the nod. Luke Cage? Shang-Chi? Man-Thing? Colleen Wing and Misty Knight? No, it looks like it's gonna be Black Widow.

"We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts," said Feige. "But The Avengers comes first."

I've gotta say, choosing Black Widow makes all kinds of sense. Plucking her from the Iron Man franchise, which has made more than $600 million domestically, means that you've got a character that people recognize, played by an actress with both style and substance. You put her in a gritty, Bourne-esque thriller that explores Natasha's past as a Russian agent and has her kicking lots of men in the face—or, hey, introduces Hydra—and it feels like a win-win scenario. Unless, of course, Marvel gives it to a hack director who screws it up, Aeon Flux-style. So ... don't do that, Marvel.

Yes Black Widow is most known for being with the Avengers. It would be awesome if she gets her own movie and then joins the Avengers Movie.
