Payment row death threat sent by tradesman
AN OUT-OF-POCKET tradesman sent a terrifying death threat to a client in a row over an unpaid bill, Perth Sheriff Court heard yesterday.
Self-employed electrician Andrew Small made the threat in a chilling letter sent to Hollywood effects specialist Morag McLean at her home in Trinity Gask, Perthshire.
He had just spent eight months behind bars after admitting cutting the brake pipes of two cars at Mrs McLean’s home in 2008 so the brakes would fail when the vehicles were driven.
Small had held a grudge against Mrs McLean and her partner as he believed they were responsible for him not being paid £5000 for electrical work he carried out at a property owned by the couple.
While they believed the matter had come to an end with Small’s imprisonment, the accused continued to harbour resentment and continued his campaign of intimidation upon his release in early 2009.
Memories of the offence resurfaced on May 27 last year when the post arrived at the couple’s home.
Mrs McLean—who has worked on the X-Files and Stargate SG-1 and films such as Lake Placid—was abroad at the time and so her partner opened the mail.
