    Lost and B5 (Lost spoliers)

For anyone who is watching Lost, the very latest episode reveals that two major characters in charge of the island (Jacob and the Man in black) are very very old and that they play opposing roles in "managing" the island. This has fairly close parallels to the Vorlons and Shadows (Order vs Chaos) and is a very very old philosophical argument, as we know from season 4 of B5 (the JMS commentary tracks).....

Ah, that age-old philosophical argument. There is a midpoint between "Who are you?" (the Vorlons) and "What do you want?" (the Shadows), which is "Why are you here?" and "Where are you going?" (Lorien's questions).

I'm starting to watch the current season of LOST - on episode 6 - and from the first or second episode, I was thinking to myself how it seems very, very similar to the Vorlons v Shadows game that was played.... We'll see how it progresses.....

In last night's finale, we had a B5 homage. Very small, but clear...

Alt-Kate, upon being released from jail by Alt-Desmond and having gotten into a car to go to a concert....

stares at him ( Who ARE You? --- long pause --- And What do you Want?)

But weren't there others too besides Vorlons and Shadows?

Yepper, Lorien was definitely still around, hence the question he brought to the table: Why are you here?

There was other around but they pretty much saw the Shadows an Vorlons as to argumentative teenangers an left them to fight it out. They manipulated there younger siblings to do there bidding to.
The other left us younger races be lumbered with those two waring fractions.

In lost it was not so clearly define, an the argument was not about whether wars an destruction was bad or good, like it was in B5 but about a brother wanted to leave the island an one who wanted to stay, not necessary about evil vs good.
As both brothers depending on your way of seeing things use evil means to try an achieve there aims.
