The Siege - T-Rex

Something just stuck me as odd about the bit in The Siege Part One when Sheppards team came back from the prospective Alpha site with the "T-Rex" on it. Just after he came through the gate he started firing back through the Stargate, but we all know that matter can only travel one way through a wormhole, so why do it?

It's a small thing I know, but yeah.

In case the such an animal came through the gate into Atlantis

but i do wonder what happened to the gate on the planet as the T-rex was obviously close.. prob took out its anger about losing its prey on the gate itself

looking at the way they were firing, the hypothetical height of that "monster" seems not so little......

yes, i agree with ^ it did look like it would have been pretty much the same size as a T-Rex with their line of sight as well

B) "Insurance" in case it followed .
C) Instinct .

It cannot happen, the Stargate can only transport the whole T-rex, it can't be stuck with the head in Atlantis and the body on the planet.....
