It is an airship and I do not think it is a battleship. There is another floating around CP sports so I guess it might also be there for information gathering (traffic control, newscasts, sports etc)

When i first saw it, i thought it might be the underside of a Battlestar. But then i remembered the Galactica class (don't think the galactica's ship class was ever given a name) Battlestar's weren't built until after the Cylon war began. Which is atleast 6 years from current show time.Comment

I'm not sure that was ever made clear.
