Uh yup, you read this right. We're barely half-way through the 1st season and more than a bit of (very vague) info has already been given out for Season 2! Tonight, JM gives us the first title, Aftermath.

As always, I've kept track of all the past references to these episodes...

More spinning today in the writers’ room and more headway made on those first ten episodes. We ended up discussing the details of episode 1 (Paul will be doing the honors on this one), talking about the what’s and wherefore’s and, most importantly, answering Brad’s burning question: “How the hell are we going to get out of this one?!”. Carl has requested Episode 5 while I’ve cast my lot with Episode 2. Brad’s idea falls in the four slot, so he’ll take that one, which means Rob will be jumping on 3. What fun!

http://josephmallozzi.wordpress.com/2009/10/28/october-28-2009-another-see-ya-later-this-one-to-jamil-walker-smith-more-spinning-more-mailbag/

Looks like I won’t be doing episode 2 after all which is a shame as I was really looking forward to tackling what will be a wonderfully multi-character-centric story with a tough ethical dilemma at its core.

http://josephmallozzi.wordpress.com/2009/10/30/october-30-2009-no-not-yet-spinning-along-the-perils-of-being-an-extra-and-yet-another-mailbag/

[…] today, we spun episode two. Rob, who’ll be doing the honors on this one, pithced out a terrific, albeit radically different, A story to compliment the B, C, D, and E throughlines. Lots going on in this one – action, drama, spectacular visual effects, and a tough, tough decision. Two actually.

http://josephmallozzi.wordpress.com/2009/11/03/november-3-2009-creating-the-crevasse-production-update-and-in-case-you-missed-it/

Yesterday, we gave and received notes on three outlines: […] Rob will probably send me his outline (episode 2, shooting third) while I’m in Japan, presuming I’ll have time to read it and email my thoughts between my visit to Ice Cream City for the unagi-vanilla and an afternoon coffee at one of those cafes where the waitresses dress up like maids.

http://josephmallozzi.wordpress.com/2009/11/21/november-21-2009-prepping-my-tokyo-trip-stargate-this-and-that/

We were back in the office today where the discussion ranged from Robert Cooper’s finished first draft of Aftermath to my lovely Tokyo dining companions. Tomorrow, we actually start breaking more stories!

 finally, at least we have some idea what is going to happen at the end of season 1.

Tonne of people will die and this episode will be something like the episode Damage from Enterprise.

If they kill of Lt Hooters I will personally throw the whole writing crew off a cliff.

It will probaly revolve around the fact that those Loser Alliance incursionists lead by Kiva have to share the ship with the Icarus Refugees.

Probably more teenage angst followed by even more sex scenes and even more scenes where Young is byatching with Rush.

Probably something to do with the aftermath of the Lucian Alliance invasion.

Either that, or it's the aftermath of the lesbian sex scenes with Chloe, TJ, Park, Lt. Racks and Rhona Mitra. Where they find out Eli has made kino recordings of it.

i wonder if they jump to another Galaxy in season 2... At the moment, I'm not sure what that would change. Because they may as well have changed galaxy in season 1 already and it wouldn't have changed anything. Most planets visited by the Destiny crew are mostly empty planets, there's no space faring aliens and no political situation or rivalries in the current galaxy. It would be great if they change the galaxy during season 2 to a more lively one while still keeping the current tone of the show.

You don't know that. Humans from Earth were unaware of the Milk Way status until they stepped through the Stargate, and even then we don't know a LOT that can be happening (Aschen Confederation, anyone?).

Destiny's crew has contact with the outside of the ship just for the brief moments they go to planets. The fact they only gated to uninhabited planets doesn't mean there's no life/activity/etc in the current galaxy.

Hell, we can't know if Destiny has just entered or if is exiting, if it's in the middle or in the edges, etc etc etc. We don't know how faster than light it moves, so we can't say how fast it an visit a galaxy, cross it and get out (even at light speed, hundreds of years are needed to do this).

Edit: OMG I'm no longer a probie! I'm an airman now! WOOT!

You are completely right in your post. And that's my point. The Destiny may as well be currently in the most lively galaxy with the most intricate aliens political situation and interrelationship ever; It wouldn't change anything since the Destiny crew only visited uninhabited planet thus far. So if they have already crossed 2 galaxies or not. It doesn't change anything at the moment. The question of crossing to another galaxy become interesting if there's something particular in the new galaxy (new dominant aliens species, new "physics" laws, new political/social situation, etc).

I doubt that advanced races in the galaxy dont have subspace sensors/radars to detect ships.... im sure they would have made some sort of contact with the Destiny.(Actualy they will, but we only find out in about 4 months)

Answers: 1) I suggested one word titles for season one, hoping we would do two word titles for season two. So far, the two word titles thing hasn’t exactly caught on.

1. "The episode in which Rush, Eli, and Young yell alot."
2. "Can't go back, so we gotta go on and on."
3. "There is a problem, there is drama, and a solution."
4. "The episode where tensions rise to the boiling point. Again."
5. "Destiny explodes killing everyone onboard... um... BEWARE OF SPOILERS!"
6. "The episode in which those on earth morn very melodramatically."
7. "The episode in which... oh, forget it. We. Give. Up."

Best. Season. Ever! :D

I think this episode was originally titled "After Math" but since at that point the writers hadn't decided to lose the one word title thing, they called it "Aftermath". Therefore, I predict since Eli is a "mathboy'', this is an Eli episode where something happens after he has done his math...
But I could be wrong :D :)

Maybe it's just a term for the consequences because of Eli doing calculations that screw their lives

Eli solves the Destiny dialling problem- they get stranded on the ship- damn, we have After-math...
Eli solves the slingshot thing and the shuttle scratches Destiny's surface in "Light"... Scott, instead of having hot sex with Choe, has to take the shuttle and polish Destiny's surface so it would be as new... ''you heard the Man, Lieutenant"- damn, After-math'' thing again...
Eli goes the wrong direction in "Lost"... "Ater-math'' continues...

Aftermath is when we'll find out who's left and how they get along with those they lost.

My Guess (Only a Guess):
-Kiva dies along with all LA commanders
-A few LA scientists may survive and maybe one LA member betrays his people to save one of ours, becoming part of our crew
-At least 2 mid-range SGU cast members from S1 die, needing to be replaced
-Telford lives and somewhat assumes Scott's role as off-world team leader
-Some LA live and somehow get off the ship

1. I think the others won't die but Kiva will
2. Doubt there will be betrayal but i think they will just be integrated into part of the crew
3 I only think 1 will... but hey.. maybe itll be two
4. I think he will live but Im kinda doubtful this will happen...or at least hopeful
5. I think they might drop off the LA at a habital world and just leave.. (from seeing the SGU season 2 trailer)

This could create an interesting plot later on if the LA team up with some alien enemies we create along the way, or just an alien that hates us for no reason! Or they may integrate into another mercenary/pirate group of various alien species.

LOL! I hadn't even thought about that but it would be fantastic continuity if he did :)

We have seen Young darn his socks with needle and thread so Franklin could borrow Youngs sewing notions. I wonder if he has enough sewing notions to sew up all the holes from the LA/Destiny fire fights since there is extra clothing/boots available to the crew.

I doubt it! He wont be able to physically hold a needle and thread, being Uploaded and all.

Since he have been uploaded into destiny memory banks he can appear as he wishes. And i wonder he will only appear while Rush is seating in the chair, or as an real hologram.

I'm assuming quite a few questions will be answered:
-What's going to happen with Telford? (seems to be an easy one)
-What will they do with LA prisoners?
-Will they all be treated equally?

Also new questions and answers about Rush's discovery will be brought up among other things I imagine, I can't wait!

How would you know he's been uploaded into Destiny's memory banks?

That's what I thought. ;) :) But still I was wondering if I missed something. I've been avoiding a lot of threads on purpose. :)

Still, it's an interesting thought. :)

Okay, it started out fresh, but I've gotten a wee bit invested, not excited or involved, just invested. Okay time and space, i'm getting a bit of wood.

and the red head helps, partially.

So Rush paints himself into a corner, and unwittingly reveals things to every one, when he shouldn't.
