Feeling a better today and going to start my marathon of favorite episodes. Any recommendations for sick bed patient? I have seasons 1-7

Let me see... Solitudes, Urgo, 1969, Out of Mind/Into the Fire, and just for fun, Wormhole X-Treme.

I agree about the Unas episodes.

Hope you feel better!

Quotes from Amanda:

S9 "Ripple Effect", "Off the Grid"

“It’s the four of us dressed up in these sexy, funky leather outfits and being taken prisoner by the bad guys."

"I play several versions of my character, and in one scene alone there are 15 different Carters."

Why the hell didn't this kind of stuff happen when Jack was around to see it?

Let's see. . . . If I was staying home sick I'd like Nemesis/Small Victories, Fire and Water, Message in a Bottle, Out of Mind/Into the Fire, Metamorphosis, Beneath the Surface, WoO and D&C. I'm sure there are others, but these would be a good start. ;)

Well I know I'm hopeless, and this has probably been said in other threads, but I didn't see it in this one, soo... anyway, I couldn't help thinking in "Ex Deus Machina" (season nine) that

SPOILERS (highlight to read):

When the one agent asked Sam if she was single again after she told him that she and Pete had broken up and she said "Not quite" with a small smile, that she and Jack have started seeing each other now that Jack is finally no longer in her chain of command. It would be perfectly in keeping with both of their characters that they wouldn't really say anything about it to anybody else yet. So in the happy little universe I live in, I prefer to think that means they have started kind of dating (when they both have time off from saving the world) and it will eventually lead to a full and happy relationship between them. *nods* yup, that's what I like to tell myself, especially to help ease the painful Jack withdrawl. Unless they give me a reason to think otherwise, that is what I choose to believe, even if they never show it to us for sure. Although... I would seriously love it if they brought Jack back at the end of Season Nine or something just in a few brief scenes to confirm that. Or if they couldn't get RDA, just have Sam mention it or something. :) Ah well... I'll take what I can get. ;)

so if anyone less poor than me happens to have bought the magazine, could ya let us know if there's anything we might need to know in it? ya know, anything along the lines of, oh i don't know, lets say, whether or not we'll ever see AT and RDA on screen together ever again?
season nine speculation gotta wonder if RDA is coming back for one, if maybe he's coming back for ripple effect, i.e. alternate sg-1, i.e not much potential for a shippy bit. i.e. angry shippers. i have a feeling we'll all end up getting very fat on shipper cookies, either from depressed comfort eating or celebratory happy eating.

Yes, that would mean there's 15 different Carters. A whole gaggle of alternate SG-1's - and Jack isn't in ANY of 'em. Excuse me, I must laugh now. Ha! Ha! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

Ha. ;)

LOL :D

The celebratory happy eating shouldn't be a problem, because if we'll actually have a reason to celebrate, then we'll jump up and down and make our happy dances anyway.
But I guess the depressed comfort eating is pretty bad for our figure.
So let's hope we won't have to do that. :S
We could write a letter to TPTB and tell them that if we'll end up fat and depressed it's all their fault. :p

Jack has such a lovely smile on the first one.

And on the second one it looks like they've completely forgotten that there are lots of SGC-people standing around and watching them.
They just look into each others eyes...awwww...
LOL and the guy in green on the right, behind Jack looks a bit dreamy.

http://www.gateworld.net/fanfic/archive/40/torch.html

It's called Torch, by Aussie and it's really good. It's long so allow plenty of to read it. It starts late season 8 and has references to the Atlantis episode 'Letters from Pegasus' at the beginning.

I watched "Out of Mind" tonight for the first time with my rose-tinted ship glasses, and OMG!

1.)That scene where he puts his hand over her mouth, pulls her back to him and hides behind a column...S-Q-U-E-E-E-E-E-E-E! I love it that he doesn't just grab her/slap a hand over her mouth/yank her behind cover...he does everything very deliberately and gently! There was DEFINITE hair-sniffage, and they DEFINITELY extended that embrace waaaaay longer than was necessary. :o They really looked like they could have just stayed that way for awhile.

2.)He doesn't just ogle her nekkid back when she sits up...he ogles EVERYTHING...front, back, up, down...just appreciating her for as long as possible before saying, "Switch clothes with that guy." (the one he'd knocked out). Funny line, but OMG those roving eyes! :D Love how she notices him ogling and holds onto that blanket as if to say, "Don't get too excited, buddy." :P

3.)When she doesn't wake up immediately, he takes the IV out of her chest...again, that could have been awkward or clumsy, but he's sooooo careful and gentle about it. Ditto when he touches her shoulder (multiple times I might add :D ), and I love the way she touches his elbow in return. So sweet!

(Chronologically, I have these "moments" listed backwards...but shipperlogically, they're in perfect order. :D )

What a great shippy episode!

Thanks! I watched The First Commandment yesturday, and it is also really shippy.

SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST COMMANDMENT:

I mean at the end, where Hanson gets out a gun, Carter kicks it and Hanson hits her, you should have seen Jacks face. And also at the end where Sam says she could have shot him and ended it.

i totally agree with you there, i was just watching it but never fear Jack gets him back, well with a little help from the villagers. Also i love the end of the episode with their little talk!

Hi everyone!

As you can see I haven't done much posting - it's been manic with the start of the school term (I'm a teacher :( )

Suekay - love the "fantasies" sig!! That was great!!

Now (impatiently) waiting for S9 to start on Skyone so I can catch up on everything that's been happening - not that it sounds like a lot :o

Can someone tell me what UST and RST stand for?? I keep seeing it on posts and don't have a clue :(

Which episode is everyone voting for on Sky one for next week?? I wasn't impressed with last weeks choices (where was threads? where was grace?)but we seem to have some better eps this week, I just can't choose!!

I was watching 'Grace' today and I have to say that at the end when Sam is in the infirmary and she thanks Jack and he asks 'what for' and she says 'nothing'. When he replys I always get the feeling that he really wants to take her in his arms and plant a BIG HONKING KISS on her right there in the bed. It's just written all over his face, the love that he feels for this woman. SIGH & SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! :D ;)

well, anyway, a friend of mine has gotten a response from them. she mentioned the sam/jack wedding pic from pov. seems that they originally had 3 of them, two of which have been sold for MASSIVE sums. they are wanting to get the third signed by both rda and at and sell it....and you know that that little collectible will go for thousands of dollars

they are also considering reproducing and selling unsigned versions which, of course, would be significantly cheaper. however, it couldn't hurt if anyone that was interested in that, let them know that fact.

if they get hundreds of fans saying that they'd like it, then it could increase the likelihood that folks would get it.

so, if you have a minute and would like to let them know, that's sweet (if you'd just like to express your opinion on another matter that's perfectly swell as well)

Now that I think about it... have AT or RDA or anyone else ever said a word about that shooting ? Cause they seem to have so much fun in that pic, it must be a good memory for both of them :)

Don't worry. You're not delusional or just making that up in your mind. When asked about the state of Sam/Jack ship, JM encouraged us to watch EDM. Ergo, Sam's statement is in fact related to the state of Sam/Jack ship.i LOVE being reminded of that! :D sally :)

I have about five seconds free to pop my head in here, but this reminded me of anti-Sam/Jack argument I saw some time ago, I can't even recall where. I wasn't personally involved; I just read it. Frankly, I feel the same way as ÜberSG-1Fan, but the person arguing against Sam and Jack said something to the effect that in his/her opinion the two of them had only ever had friendship between them. And then something boring about "canon". I'm sure that's a popular argument among those who disagree with Sam/Jack. My immediate thought however was ...... if that's true, what did the scene in "Threads" mean, when Sam showed up at Jack's home before she found him with Kerry? If Sam and Jack have only platonic feelings for one another, then why would Sam show up at Jack's house to tell him she's having second thoughts about her wedding (to Pete)? Why involve Jack at all? Well, he's her friend, so she's just there for moral support (says the anti-shipper). OK ... but then she goes on to say that her reticence has something to do with Jack himself; something to do with a "thing" she wants very much to tell him, before she loses her nerve. What is that "thing", pray tell? Not surprisingly, I've never seen an Anti-Shipper explain that particular "canon" moment away. Because it's not possible to do so. Clearly, Sam was there because of her feelings for Jack. And yet ...... there's still a whole platoon filled with people who believe the two of them have never felt more than friendship towards one another. I suppose to each his own. Perhaps they're watching an alternate-universe version of Stargate: SG-1, on a special channel that the rest of us don't get. :)

Seriously, I think the problem is plain old DENIAL for some people. They don't want it, so they choose not to see it. Similarily to how some of us chose to deal with the character of Pete Shanahan (myself included!!). Couldn't stomach the thought, so I banished him from my island. All though, even when I tried to watch objectively, I just never saw sparks between AT and DD. I saw more of a connection between she and SPF(Orlin). Then again, who wouldn't have a connection with SPF - YUM!

I didn't really like how Threads was written. Too many holes for me. But for me it boils down to the fact that Kerry broke up with Jack because of his feelings for Sam. She called him on it and he didn't deny it. She walked out of his office and he didn't chase after her. If Sam and Jack had only platonic feeling toward each other, Jack would not have let Kerry walk out the door.

Yep, that's pretty much how I feel about it too! I also love the bit where Teal'c is 'trying' to get Jack to talk about it in the locker room. He doesn't have to try very hard... Not that Jack bares his soul, but what he does say is quite significant...by Jack's standards, anyway

Exactly! I can see how some people might want to deny the s/j ship is there up to season 4, because it was very subtle. But after that, it is canon.

I tried to be in denial re Pete. Didn't work very well, but I did try. I didn't see anything resembling a spark between AT & DD either. Glad it wasn't just me...

hey i honestly don't find fault with AT when that kind of thing gets published because i think its all taken out of context and paraphrased, and i would venture a gamble that on occassion these interviewers are very partial and leading in the questions they ask. i've never seen or heard anything on a dvd, or from any clips of cons that would indicate the kind of feelings conveyed in those "interviews" from AT.
personally i'm kind of glad there were no shippy bits in the new TVzone interview. WAIT! DON'T SHOOT!
i mean, because i'm sure that she gets sick of being asked the same question over and over again, and i personally get sick of seeing the twisted around interpretation of the answer from the overly biased interviewers. if i were her, i'd mess with their heads and give inconsistant answers every time.

i love seeing ship on the show, i love hearing little hints and tidbits here and there (positive ones!) and i love reading fics with happy endings and fluffy fics and all that. much as i love hearing the shippy stuff, i love the team stuff and the action stuff and the friendshippy stuff too. and if i were AT i'd see the shippy bits as just a small part of the big picture, and yet its the most consistent thing that she gets asked by so called professionals. one expects it of the fans, cos its what we love and i think she respects that from us cos she knows its not all we care about.

the fact is, sam and jack are together now, evidence: the second half of season 8 and EDM in season 9. i'm happy. i'd like to hear bits and bobs from time to time, but i've gotten almost everything i want in that department, although i'll never say no to more. i'm safe in the knowledge that they ARE together. i just hope they don't screw it up by changing this. but i'm sure they won't. yep. i'm confident.

besides, i have a feeling that the dreamwatch interviewer was a fan of that hideous relationship *shudders* in seasons 7 and 8. eeww!

I don't think it will be long-lasting, but it could be interesting. The topic is why there are so many new sci-fi shows on the major networks this year. I thought it was worth a little forum-wide discussion.

If you have an opinion on this subject, or just want to discuss it, please stop by! It's at: http://forum.gateworld.net/showthread.php?p=4509756#post4509756

To stay on-topic: Boy, I miss Jack! I heard one line in the show that I know we'll have to discuss in spoilers afterwards. Mitchell, Mitchell, Mitchell!!!!! What are we going to do with the new guy? Sigh......

In years past this thread would have been oh so busy. Who says Jacks departure isn't being felt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (((((((((shippers)))))))))))))

yep! :(

just jack and sam standing in the same room could bring *us* to orgasm. :p

Back on topic, well sort of... I've had a quick look at that french site you were talking about. I've found out there was a convention in December in Paris. Guess who's going to be there ? ... Peter DeLuise and his little brother David !
Definitely not a con for me !
I'll have a look into french forums after that con to know what french fans will have told him... ;) What I wouldn't do for the Shipper Family... :p :D

well... let's just say that i'd rather be run over by a truck, carrying elephants... and dynamite... after running from my kidnappers that had tortured me for days... naw, i wouldn't want to go to this convention. :p

I guess, to be completely honest, this is sorta what bothers me about David DeLuise and makes me dislike him. I truly feel that he was only on the show because of his brother, and only kept around more than one episode for the same reason. (His acting isn't so great either, IMO.)

I've always been super-irritated by nepotism in the workplace (professional experience speaking here), so my feelings towards DD (no, not David Duchovny, who's perfectly delicious and yummy) are only peripherally related to his character.

I've never seen that... The only show where I've seen David DeLuise is SG1... and in that one I didn't love him at all ! :p
I wonder how fans will greet him... and what he's going to say about the whole Pete/Sam and Sam/Jack story...

and what is david going to talk about, concerning his stargate experience/character?... uh, pete's relay with sam perhaps? and his filming of scenes with amanda? yes, i see this as a *very* enjoyable experience for s/j shippers.

Well both episodes have ended in my neck of the woods and not a shippy moment in either of them. I have to say that in TFH I would have thought that if Jack is in charge of Homeworld Security that he should have been a part of this episode; I mean with the whole country under quarantine and all. IMO for a summer finale I can't say that I was left riveted to my seat nor am I dying of suspense. I do have to say that I agree with Trupi that since the original Orlin couldn't make a come back, I am glad they decided to go with a child. When he stated that he still had feelings for Sam, I about fell over (enough already).

I liked the first episode-especially when the mini-me Anubis called Wallsie(whatever sorry) Dick. Then he beat the crap out of most of the SGC. But the best is when Daniel blows him away. My husband didn't think he would do it. But what is going on with BB character and why is he in charge? He's not the experience one and he doesn't know the background on Anubis. nickatell I'am glad I skipped these episodes again.I did see the Orlin and Sam scenes. It just never gets old seeing a guest Star falling for Sam.If anyone believes that I have a nice Bridge to sell them. The only thing left for TPTB is to have a five Year old fall for Sam.Like you said nickatell to have a big crisis going on and no Jack is unreal. This may sound dumb but why not just show Sam talking to Jack on the Phone in a couple of these episodes. It's not great but at least it keeps the Jack character sort of involved and gives some sort of Ship from Sam's side at least.I'am just very Happy Lost is starting this week.I watched the entire Season on DVD this past week and I'am hooked.I could not wait to watch the next episode.I'am looking forward to some great Jack and Kate Ship. It's nice Lost is not a Military Show.I do not have to hear Regs as an excuse for the Ship not happening betweek Jack and Kate.

Yup, I thought with Amanda back the show would become SG1 again, but it really hasn't happened, has it? I don't know which story line is worse the Ori or King Arthur, but they both are very boring. And the thought of the Vala character back for the season finale makes me want to scream. Why bring her back. More cleavage? Please, get some new writers or something. I really don't want this show to go off the air. There has been an announcement that Sg Atlantis and Battlestar G are being renewed for next season. Is the glaring omission about SG1 important??

You know TPTB were not afraid to continue the show without Jack, knowing full well what the ramifications might be; so I ask you, why won't they take a stand on whether or not they plan to continue the Jack and Sam relationship? If we knew the answer to that it would put a lot of us out of our misery. I know they don't want to risk loosing more of their audience, but if their storytelling is so good and they believe in it as they have been telling us, then why care? Especially if they really don't like writing it. You know if they would have used all that time and emotion and had Jack and Sam in a passionate relationship instead of Pete and Sam the shippers would have been satisfied and they now could have had them in a long distance relationship and kept all the shippy (ha, ha) moments they have had in Season 9 so far. I honestly think that the shippers would have understood with RDA leaving and all and probably would have still tuned in to see how things were going with the new characters. I know at least I would have felt closure and would still enjoy viewing the old episodes a lot more than I do now.

I agree with you. During that scene I was waiting for what could have been a great opportunity for Sam to share with Orlin that she was involved with someone. I taped the show tonight and good thing it's going on hiatus because I really don't care how long it takes me to get through watching it. I will watch it, tho, but when did it get to be a chore? And it isn't just lack of ship, since I've enjoyed some other shipless eps, and even enjoyed one Jackless one. Maybe that's it. I knew that Jack had come back after that ep and now we just don't know what will happen.Or maybe that's not the reason. Well, tonight's episode awaits me--sometime.

I don't know if this has been brought up and the thread I read it on talked like we shouldn't comment about it but it's been said that CB is pg and that's why it's being written into the end of the season . I don't see what's wrong with commenting unless we say something uncomplimentary about CB and the timing. I say congratulations, if it's true.

Ses110 a phone conversation between Jack and Sam would have been perfect in tonights summer finale. I mean if this disease was spreading as fast as it was I know if I were Sam I would have wanted to know if Jack was alright and vice versa, I mean Jack should have been concerned about Sam especially since the disease originated from the SGC. You know towards the end of the show just before Beau announces that the whole country is under quarantine, he is talking on the phone and he says something like "I want to talk to him as soon as his plane lands," who did he want to talk to? Jack maybe, if so it would have at least been nice for him to mention him by name. Although I guess he could have been talking about Hammond.

dmovies I guess I would be shocked if the show wasn't renewed because the ratings have been as good as Stargate Atlantis and BG and since the beginning TPTB have said they think it will go on for some time. I know TPTB have said that they are going to end Season 9 with a cliffhanger and if that cliffhanger is as riveting (ha, ha) as this summer finale cliffhanger, oh boy I'm all a tingle (kidding, kidding). My only hope left is that RDA decides to return for the real "season finale" and that they use part (or most) of his time on the Jack and Sam relationship. I really hope that RDA decides to come back at least part-time for next season, like you say if there is one.

I hated it too Sally. And what kind of people would even think that Sam would be initimate with at little boy. I thought it was awkward and uncalled for. From what I remembered, Orlin and Sam touched minds. But they made it sound like they hopped in the sack. I lost alot of respect for Landry. He put Sam on the spot right in front of his daughter. Ok, ok.....maybe it was intimate, but it wasn't like a sharing of bodies. It was a sharing of minds. Everyone had read the report, so I'm not going to let that reference bother me.

And I think we did get a little something tonight. From my perspective we did. When Orlin told Sam he still had feelings for her, she was clearly struggling with what to say. Why? Because she knows she's with Jack! I think she didn't respond any more clearly because:
1. She didn't want to upset him. He was there to help, and she didn't want to distract him by talking about Jack.
2. She knew she wasn't going to pursue or encourage anything, so there was no reason to rub it in his face that she's with Jack!
3. She senses that he won't be around long, so why complicate things with talk of Jack?

Feel good, ship family! Everything is still on track. In the meantime, a little gift for you. We know now that Sam and Jack have moved beyond the barriers that forced them to hold back their feelings for so long. Now, they won't have to know the regret of the road not taken! And if that sounds a little shippy/sappy to you, it's because I'm just feeling sappy about them today!!!!!

the whole way they set up the ep, with showing 'previously on sg1'... it implied sam/orlin ship. with orlin saying he loved her, and showing that glowy connection thing with sam saying 'wow'.

to me, they did just what they wanted - implied that sam and orlin were 'sexually' intimate in ascension. new to me, that's for sure.

I agree with you Sally, I feel they were implying that Orlin and Sam had an "intimate" (sexual) relationship, and with her reply yes, we did, Oh boy!!!! Are we going to find out later that the same happened with Martouf and Narim???? I never did like the episode Ascension!!!!!! As I said before though why are TPTB still being so vague about the Jack and Sam relationship if they feel that in fact their relationship is now real? At least they did give us Sam looking and I suspect feeling uncomfortable when Orlin was discussing his feelings for her; but as Rogue said was it because she is in a relationship with Jack or because now Orlin sits before her as a boy and feelings that he is referring to for her to have as well would be oh so wrong......again vague, why?????

In response to Damian Kindlers remark about not knowing what to do with ourselves if we got the resolution we request for Jack and Sam, I would tell him that maybe I would be able to enjoy the show for what it is now rather than what I hope and anticipate it to be.

It bothered me as well Sally. There is very little on this Show that does not bother me.It really did sound Sexual with Sam and Orlin.

yeah... talk about rewriting history. if they couldn't slam us with up-to-date sam/orlin ship (because sean wasn't available), they rewrote what *really* happened between sam and orlin from s5's ascension.

the way it was all presented, with landry and lam being uncomfortable with the idea that sam had been 'intimate' with a child... this is where sam should have said 'not like that' to them. but nope, must enjoy making the shippers suffer.

i'm not watching one single repeat of this half season. as a shippers *and* sam fan, there's not much there. and even if these last two eps last night had more sam in them than all the others combined, it ain't enough to compensate for the crappy/hurt ship feelings i'm experiencing right now.

sorry to bring everyone down.

Sally IMO your not bringing everyone down.Your telling it like it is.I really do not know what to think about Sam/Orlin right now.Last night is the perfect example of the problem with the Guest Star falling for Sam.TPTB can rewrite History and imply Sam had a fling with all these characters.IMO Sam is still coming off as weak.Sam needs to come out and tell these characters she is seeing someone if that is the case.Sam needs to stop feelings sorry for these Guys and give them a straight answer.Sam fumbling for an excuse is not getting it done.

From what I have heard lately, I have a really bad feeling that Im not going to enjoy S9 when it starts here.

I dont understand why TPTB have left the ship so suddenly... after bringing it to the surface right at the end of S8, why drop it completely now? :S It doesnt make any sense.

Im just worried that Im going to lose interest in SG, and then S/J finally get together, and I'll have missed it

I hope everyone is ok and I'm praying that Season 9 is like Seasons 7 and 8 where they got a whole lot better(and shippier) in the second half!!

I agree with you Smea! I can't believe they did so much at the end of Season 8 with Threads and Moebius and then they just drop the ship completely! Its not fair!

And that is one of the reasons why i'm so keen to stick with Stargate till the end, first of all I love it and don't want it to end and I admit there is more to the show than ship but I really don't enjoy it as much as I did when Jack was there and there was that chemistry to look for every episode.....and I am worried that if I stop watching I will miss something great :S I really hope it gets better in the second half and I want Jack back! I'm in ship withdrawl! I thought we were going to get a phone convo but as of yet we haven't :( I just need to see one scene between Sam and Jack, one of there little looks or convos, anything would do me!

We've all got to stay positive! <-(You know what, I remember saying this exact same thing last year and look what we ended up with! :P:D)

And if that sounds a little shippy/sappy to you, it's because I'm just feeling sappy about them today!!!!!

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y128/newsgoddess/Regret.jpg
Just caught up with the posts. I agree with Fanintn that everything is going to be fine. Lawdry and his daughter haven't been on the base long enough to really know Sam and to understand that being intimate might be different for different races (like the vulcan mind melded). We also knew that Jack was not going to appear in any shape or way in the Fall season. I told you what Don said and I believe he just said it in an interview. RDA will be back and AT also said just wait and see that somethig was in the air. By making Orlin a child, I think TPTB heard us and knew not to push our buttons. Because, IMO they knew if they had put a handsome actor as Orlin and there was any monkeying around with Sam ,every shipper would have jumped ship and would have brought the UK shipper and everyone else who hasn't seen S9 with us.
We have a long wait to see the outcome and we have to help our fellow shippers across the ocean with RDA withdraws and Vala hate and Daniel's speed reading. We have to stick together until we know for sure which way the wind blows, then we can either get the shippy cookies out or release the penguins of war!

Today is the day that shippers in the United States find out the outcome of the story that's everyone's mind:

Stargate SG1 - Sam and Jack - Will they won't they?

Well here I am with a random Sam and Jack shipper from the states. Now Random shipper how are you feeling about the arrival of Threads in North America.

Random Shipper: Well actually you see I already know a lot about-

Reporter: Absolute squat...Typical.

Reporter: As you can see, with only a matter of hours before the resolution is made known, Shippers are getting a little bit tense. Here's Jack O'Neill and Samantha Carter to straighten things out!

Reporter: Hello Sam
Sam: Hello Reporter
Reporter: Hello Jack
Jack: Such a great name that...reporter...so precise!

Reporter: Is it tough having your 'dirty laundry' aired in public.
Jack: Wooh! Carter...stinky!
Sam: Well yes it is...I mean we try and be private people

Jack: Where? There's cake?

I agree with you Sally, I feel they were implying that Orlin and Sam had an "intimate" (sexual) relationship, and with her reply yes, we did, Oh boy!!!! Are we going to find out later that the same happened with Martouf and Narim???? I never did like the episode Ascension!!!!!!
I guess if you had never seen the show before, that's what you would have thought. But I don't think any of us should be confused. We saw the "intimacy" between them in canon.....and it was definitely intimate, but it wasn't sex. I am much more likely (in any situation) to believe what I witnessed with my own eyes than what some revisionist tells me. Have no doubts, people. They weren't implying sex, although that scene sent the wrong impression to new fans.

It was both.....and more. It was his current age, her relationship with Jack, the fact that there was no reason to upset him with talk of Jack, etc.! She knew there was no chance of a child pursuing anything she couldn't handle, so she struggled with whether she should be truthful for a moment, and just decided to let it be! I'm certain that's all there was to it.

In response to Damian Kindlers remark about not knowing what to do with ourselves if we got the resolution we request for Jack and Sam, I would tell him that maybe I would be able to enjoy the show for what it is now rather than what I hope and anticipate it to be.
I really like what you said here, nickatell. I'd tell him the same thing! TPTB have always been, and will probably always be, patronizing with us. I think they truly believe that RST doesn't sell. They're a bunch of men (not that I don't love men--I am, after all, married to one). I just don't like this herd's mentality on certain topics. They think we're more interested if we don't have a resolution. They don't understand (or don't believe) that there is still opportunity for plenty of angst and suspense through physical separation and threats to life. They're just exasperating, and I have concluded that they throw us bones only when they think it benefits them! So, try not to let them get you so upset. You're just playing into their hands and feeding their arguments when you do!

(* Jumps down off high stack of teetering soapboxes *)

I'm going to dinner now. I hope I won't come home to find myself pelted with rotten tomatoes for being so belligerant. I guess I was out in the hot sun at a community festival too long today. But I love you all, and I don't like to see you upset. So don't worry---be happy---and believe in what one of our own (trupi) has been able to glean from better sources.

Delurking for that one :)

I think Sam was referring to the glowing thingie she experienced with Orlin at her place by the fireplace .

I saw a film like that when sex was just about glowing between 2 persons a human and a alien .

It was not sexual relationship in Ascencion but only intimacy . It may have felt that way though for Sam and Orlin . ..or at least it looked like it on screen and they both enjoyed it . I think this is what Sam is referring to .

Ooh tough one. For me it would have to be the scene in Enemies when they are walking through Apophis's ship. When her asks her how she knows where to go.
I picked that one because it shows how comfortable they are with each other. He lightly teases her, she calls him sir, it just totally fits. I'm not sure other people would call it shippy, but to me it was.

sg-1fanintn
September 17th, 2005, 05:01 PM
Ok.....still waiting on the family to get ready to go to dinner.....and to decide where they want to eat.

I don't think a single scene can do it. The last scene on the planet in Beneath the Surface is one I considered. I also thought about the Za'tarc scene and the "keep it in the room" scene that followed in Divide & Conquer. But finally, I decided on these two:

From Lost City, Part 2:

SCOUT SHIP. Jack is making adjustments to crystals in the engine core as Sam watches.
O'NEILL: Give me your zat. (Sam hands over a zat and Jack shoots the crystals. The engine sound increases. Jack closes the zat and hands it back to Sam.) There you go.
CARTER: Sir. I think you should know that General Hammond authorised me to take command of the team if I determined that you ...
O'NEILL: Do it now.
CARTER: Sir, I don't think that's necessary ...
O'NEILL: I trust you. I'll make it easy for you. I resign. You're in charge.
CARTER: OK. ... Sir, at your house before Daniel and Teal'c showed up, what I was gonna say was ...
O'NEILL: I know. (They look at each other for a moment, then Jack slides the bank of crystals back into position.)

Classic Sam & Jack moment: The intensity, the emotion, the lack of words and the lack of action due to their joint sense of responsibility to the Air Force and the planet.

From Threads:

S.G.C. ISOLATION ROOM. Jacob is being visited by a couple of Tok'ra. Sam sits in the Observation Room watching them talk. Jack comes in and sits down next to her. He looks down at Jacob for a while, then speaks to Sam.
O'NEILL: You OK?
(Sam has obviously been crying a lot but for the moment her face is dry.)
CARTER: Actually, I'm fine. Good, even, strange as that sounds. I thought I lost him four years ago. Since then, we've been closer than we ever were in my whole life. In a way, Selmak gave me the father I never thought I'd know.
(Jack looks at her for a moment.)
O'NEILL: C'me here. (He puts his arm around her shoulder. She reaches up and takes his hand and snuggles into his shoulder, rubbing her thumb against his hand. They sit and look at Jacob for a moment.)
CARTER: Thank you, sir.
O'NEILL (quietly): For what?
CARTER: For being here for me.
(Jack looks at her for a moment, then speaks quietly.)
O'NEILL: Always.
(Sam looks at him, then rests her head on his hand as she gazes at her father.)

This is the other watershed moment for me. The last time Sam had seen Jack before this scene was at his house when Kerry suddenly came out from the kitchen. She thinks he's still with Kerry. She doesn't realize that Kerry has had a talk with him, and has effectively outed him on his emotional attachment to Sam. She thinks he's there as he always has been.....for her as her friend. But when he says, "Always," and she turns to look at him, all the facts come rushing to her clearly in a nanosecond. She realizes that he's there as more than a friend, that he cares for her as much as he ever did, that Kerry is out of the picture and that he has just made a big commitment to Sam and only Sam. Squeeeeee! I just always try to keep this scene in mind, because from there, I know that they know that there's no going back!!!!

Ok.....they've picked a restaurant now. See you later!

i'm goin' with the staring scene in D&C/Upgrades.
i think its pretty self expained but i'll just briefly refresh. it showed the team/friendship part, and also the deeper love in a non platonomy (its a word!) way. it showed the angst of not being able to express the fact that they are in love, and it the physical barrier between them was very symbolic. and not only does it represent their relationship at that point in the show. BUT! need i point out that the barrier drops in that scene and they run off home together. hhmm? hhmmm?

THEY ARE TOGETHER SHIPLETS! REST ASSURED!

(((sg-1fanintn))) I couldn't green ya but I wanted to say that you presented two monumental scenes that best reflect the essence of Sam's and Jack's feelings leading to the inevitable resolution of their love in a romantic, intimate relationship. :p :D ;)

Don't worry. You're not delusional or just making that up in your mind. When asked about the state of Sam/Jack ship, JM encouraged us to watch EDM. Ergo, Sam's statement is in fact related to the state of Sam/Jack ship.

:D

Oh good, glad I wasn't only delusional on that one. *is happy* yesssss...

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/11/11_2_104.gif

At least that gives me some small thing to be happy about. I'm afraid I really haven't been watching the show much lately. I tape them to watch later, but I haven't gotten around to watching the past three episodes yet... *blush* to me it seems like they're taking themselves a wee bit to seriously or something, I don't know, it's just not as fun. But that's a discussion for another thread. Really I think I just miss Jack. :D So hard to have Jack & Sam shippyness when one of them is missing.... LOL Ah well, he's there in my heart. ;)

i'm goin' with the staring scene in D&C/Upgrades.
i think its pretty self expained but i'll just briefly refresh. it showed the team/friendship part, and also the deeper love in a non platonomy (its a word!) way. it showed the angst of not being able to express the fact that they are in love, and it the physical barrier between them was very symbolic. and not only does it represent their relationship at that point in the show. BUT! need i point out that the barrier drops in that scene and they run off home together. hhmm? hhmmm?

THEY ARE TOGETHER SHIPLETS! REST ASSURED!

Ahhhhhhh, (((stargate barbie))) yet another deeply moving scene portraying Sam's and Jack's feelings about each other in the face of maintaining the honor due their rank and station as officers!!! Strength of character and strength of stopping cold their big, honkin' libidinous feelings!!!! :p

I'm a big fan of the small moments between the two...a good example is the scene where Sam tried to explain wormholes to Jack.

I think if you add up the small moments/looks/exchanges...you get to build up a really complete picture of Sam and Jack and where they stand with each other. The love, respect and admire each other, yet manage to remain completely individual and have conflicting views on many things.

Just goes to prove that opposites attract!

They weren't implying sex, although that scene sent the wrong impression to new fans.

and wrong impression to landry and lam, who thought sam was a pedophile or something. this is where i would have shouted out 'not like that!'

I LOVE THAT SCENE! sorry for shouting, but i do. its in "a matter of time" i think. and the looks on both of their faces, and the way they're talking all hushed, and graham simmons in the background looking like he's trying to listen in, as if they're speaking all intimate like.

*sigh* i love that episode. and later with cromwell and the whole, "wow she is..." "way smarter than we are, i know".
there are a few nice shippy bits in that episode.

anyone else love "serpents song", when sam has a flashback and jack say's her name?
and "secrets" for their entire interaction in the show? i could go on. but i shant.

lam interrupts 'taller?'

sam responds 'he was a grown man'

okay, is it me, or does 'intimate' refer to sexual? and if so, sam and orlin had sex? they had sex? sex? in the season 5 ep 'ascension'?

why couldn't sam have answered 'yes, but not like that'. nope, they gave the impression they wanted to give, courtesy of damian kindler. you know, the guy that co-wrote chimera, and ended up telling the s/j shippers that we wouldn't be happy with sam and jack getting together because we then wouldn't know what to do with ourselves?

sally

Delurking for that one

I think Sam was referring to the glowing thingie she experienced with Orlin at her place by the fireplace .

I saw a film like that when sex was just about glowing between 2 persons a human and a alien .

It was not sexual relationship in Ascencion but only intimacy . It may have felt that way though for Sam and Orlin . ..or at least it looked like it on screen and they both enjoyed it . I think this is what Sam is referring to .

Caty

I agree Caty, Sam also experienced the same (I’m assuming) feeling with Narim’s emoticon gadget . She showed the same emotions with Narim as with Orkin.. I mean Orlin. J

I'd like everyone to answer this question at length.

What scene do you think sums up the entire S/J relationship? I'm not talking just ship...I'm talking EVERYTHING...their friendship, their team relationship, their ranks, and of course, the ship...

So...make your answers VERY long, and defend your answer if someone disagrees

Moi? Have I a very long answer? There was more than one reason that I chose my signature J.

Personally, Threads had the greatest show of emotion not only in the scene with Jack and Sam in the observation room but also in the last fishing scene. I can now add those two little words, “Not exactly” as a definite in summing up where they stand now J

Ahhh but….This wasn’t a man. He was but a young lad and I think Sam was finding it hard to distinquish this fact . It was like, right in her face that there was young lad sitting there. You could see she was uncomfortable when he was announcing his undying feelings for her within hearing distance of many in the commissary. With being a shipper, I’m hoping she was debating telling him she was committed to another (Jack) verses telling him what she said. She definitely was taken off guard with his confession and unsure how to react. I saw Sam’s surprise and disconcert again when he repeated himself. In retrospect I am sure that the shock of a ‘child’ confessing his romantic feelings for her through her for a loop.

Couldn't come and chat with you yesterday, because they've found 3(!) unexploded bombs from WW2 near our house :S , so they had to evacuate everyone in a certain radius (including me).
And although that's normally no big deal and doesn't take longer than a few hours, it ended up taking the whole day, because one of the duds was not a normal aircraft bomb, but something else (don't ask me...) and they had to request a special instrument to defuse it. And I was really nervous, because I couldn't go home and come here to see what you think about the new episodes, but obvioulsy I didn’t miss much. LOL :D
I agree with what you said about the "intimate relationship" comment. It really sounds like they had sex  , but we all know that they hadn't!
Sam had lots of "(potential) love interests", but she never had sex with one of them (except of Pete and Joe, but she had relationships with these men, so that's something else ;)).

What I really don't understand is, why do they make it sound like that!?!
They could have indicated that she knew Orlin personally in a less ambiguous way!

OMG, I'm so sorry! That must have been a nerve wreaking day! I glad all went well and no one was hurt. I think the whole scene with Orlin was a way of TPTB to get us crazy again and a joke. Does the general really believe that Sam had a sexual relationship with a child? She can't have a relationship with a grown man in her command because of regs. and she going to get herself thrown out of the SGC by having a relationship with a child -Yeh right! Like I said they knew not to lank our chains too hard because they made Orlin a child and not some handsome guy. They would have been dead men walking and the last nail on the coffin would have been in place for SG-1!

I have no doubt Orlin still Loves Sam.I'am not a big Fan of Orlin.Orlin is just another Pete or Barrett IMO.Barrett and Orlin will never stop going after Sam.I would not be surprised to see Orlin come back as an Old Man next Year.I just cannot stand seeing Sam's Man Friends while we wait to see Sam and Jack together.

Supposedly Flannery was not available for this ep. One shudders to think what they might have written if it were he instead of the boy in this ep. On the other hand maybe Sam would have said something even better than "not exactly." Probably not. Well I can dream, can't I?

Hi everyone ! I'm still trying to catch up after 2 days away from my comp... :p Anyway, I just wanted to say a few things...

* I haven't watched the S9 eps yet so I think I'll have to wait a little more time to discuss with you about them... For all of you who're feeling a bit down about those eps, just remember that we have 8 wonderfuls years full of Sam/Jack ship ! :)
I know that in my mind and heart, Sam and Jack are together, no matter what TPTB or everyone else can say about it :)

* Happy belated birthday Tame ! :D
Bev, can you tell Tame that we miss her and that we all hope everything will be fine for her ? Thanks :)

* Happy birthday Billie ! :D

* sueKay, that pic with the Linux penguin in front of the Gate... I could swear I've already seen it in this thread but there was a small extra manip : we could see the pic of Sam and Jack kissing (the Grace kiss) in the middle of the Gate...
Does anybody else remember it ? Or was it only in my dreams ? :S
Anyway, IMO it was the perfect picture for the Shipper Family ! :D

Thanks trupi, but you don't need to be sorry. Like I said...that's normally no big deal. There are many, many thousands of them still lying under the surface. It happens all the time that for example construction workers find one and the bomb ordnance department has to defuse it. But it's extremely rare, that a dud actually detonates. It's not as dangerous at it might sound. :p
It was just a little annoying that I wasn't allowed to go home for almost the whole day... :D

Yes, but to be honest I'm sure that if Sean Patrick Flannery had been available he would have played Orlin again.
I think it was just because they didn't want to take a different actor for the same role, not because they wanted to please us.

Speaking of Orlin....I can't help but still wonder about Jack's behavior towards Sam in Ascension. I don't get why he doesn't believe her, when she tells him about Orlin. It happens quite often that an alien entity comes trough the stargate without being noticed!
But that he doesn't believe her is not even the biggest problem I have with his behaviour. What really bugs me is, that he doesn't seem to have a problem with the fact that they have installed bugs and cameras in Sam's house to controll her, without her knowledge.
And when she confronts him with that, he even lies to her!
I know...he seems to feel really uncomfortable in that scene, but it's not because he he feels bad about what he has done, but because he doesn't want to talk to her about that and doesn't want to admit that he thinks she is crazy! :S
Has anyone a good explanation for his behaviour?
I thought it was strange and even out of character of him, that he doesn't believe her, lies to her, thinks it's okay to controll her behind her back and doesn't seem to care about Sam's "problem". :S

Here are the scenes I was talking about: :)

Daniel: (Still looking down at his work) How's Sam?

Jack: Absolutely no evidence of her secret (He does quotations for secret) friend.

Daniel: (Looking up from his work) How's *SAM*?

Jack: Hammond recomended a psyche evaluation.

Teal'C: Do you believe Major Carter has become mentally unstable?

Jack: No more than the rest of us

and

Sam: Sir, (Jack sighs as he practically runs down the hall) (she finally runs to catch up with him) Look at this. (she's holding a clock in her hands)

Jack: So?

Sam: So, it was in my house. (still walking quickly) The code 3 team is supposed to take away all their equipment when they left ... no more cameras, no more listening devices ...

Jack: So they forgot one, Carter.

Sam: Are you sure?

Jack: No.

Sam: (as he reaches a door) Sir ... (he says "damn" to himself) Is the SGC secretly keeping tabs on me?

Jack: (playing dumb) Secretly?

Sam: Colonel, I did my duty in reporting the Alien encounter, and now everyone thinks I'm crazy. (Jack is looking at the door uncomfortably.)

Jack: (hand was on doorknob) Look, Carter, here's the bottom line ... no one is seeing what you've seen. And until that happens, We're all gonna think you're nuts!

Sam: Sir ... purely hypothetically, as my Superior Officer, if this Alien DID show himself to me again ...

Jack: Did it?

Sam: I'm just saying ... if the Alien had the ability and desire to show himself only to me ... (Jack's moving around, uncomfortably, and holding his breath.) It would probrably be better if I gathered as much information as I could, possibly even found a way of isolating it. Before I officially reported it again, right?

Jack: Probably. Yes. I gotta Pee.

Sam: Yes, Sir. (he runs into the room)

Her annoying and highly disrespect "husband" Joe was actually standing there making decisions for her right in front of her!! And yet she didn't say a single word.

Any self-respecting woman would have broken in, married or not, and said, "hold on a minute, this is MY decision!" To have Joe standing there treating her like a child rather than an adult who is his wife was pretty amazing.

But, maybe she has a predisposition to be that way with her men, and we've just never seen it because other than Jack - who respects her too much to treat her that way - the only men we've seen her with were *allowed* to. Specifically, Pete and Joe.

I don't really see it that way. Sam, IMO, is a highly intelligent person (genius), and its been my experience that people like that tend to let the spouse/partner handle most personal decisions. If a very intelligent man lets a woman handle everything outside of work, no one thinks anything of it. But when you turn the situation around and the woman lets the man handle everything, it may only seem like she has no authority when in reality she is reducing him to that "lesser person" sterotype. When watching Sam with Joe she really reminded me of a male professor (genius) I used to work with.

Which is another reason why I like Sam with Jack. She could be genius and Jack can play dumb all he wants, but he never came across as anything but Sam's equal.

Yes, but that was before Joe made his "demands" that Jack keep her out of it - when it was her idea! And when he did, she stood there and took it - she didn't object or fight him until the very end. She was ready to leave Jack, Teal'c, and Daniel to complete the plan by themselves while she went off with him. What I'm saying is, it should have never gotten that far.

hey i honestly don't find fault with AT when that kind of thing gets published because i think its all taken out of context and paraphrased, and i would venture a gamble that on occassion these interviewers are very partial and leading in the questions they ask. i've never seen or heard anything on a dvd, or from any clips of cons that would indicate the kind of feelings conveyed in those "interviews" from AT.

Well, a friend of mine in the USA scanned in the Dreamwatch article for those who might wish to read it but not have it available in your market. I don't know how long it'll be online and this isn't a publicly accessible link so it probably will only be up for a few days. Here it is, anyway. I agree about Jack and Sam, but not your previous paragraph.

We're not talking about letting him pick the china pattern or where to have the bank account. We're talking about something that had to do with *her* - not with them both. Would she let him choose her gynecologist? How to wear her hair? Personal decisions - especially when they deal with a plan that was hers to begin with - shouldn't be left to a spouse. Or, as I said, she *does* have a tendancy to be subservient to her "man" of the moment. Maybe that's normal for people of her intelligence, but it doesn't negate the fact that it does explain why she'd allow  to behave the same way with her.

Jack just wouldn't make decisions for her like that, but it might be interesting to see what she'd do if he tried. <g>

JMO, of course.

I don't think she, or Joe, or anyone else, got to pick her gynecologist. As least that was my impression. The medical profession, I thought, was completely under Ashen control.

And Sam had no reason to believe Joe was keeping anything from her until Janet examined her under the radar. If Joe had not behaved in a demanding way before this situation erupted, Sam would try to make allowances to a point, I think. Especially if she knew Joe had reason to be uneasy with her relationship with Jack. I'm not excusing Joe. I just don't feel that Sam necessarily had been treated that way by Joe in the past.

(((Anunnaki))) Thanks for sharing AT's interview quote. I agree, I don't think this is anything for Shippers to be concerned about. Actors have their opinions and feelings about their characters and the storyline but in most cases they are not the writers so they cannot create, modify, or develop the story. So, for whatever reason she expresses these views, the story will be detemined by TPTB based on viewer ratings. Money!!!

Interestingly, I just read an article about the series, "Lost," and the fine line TV shows walk in developing characters and plots and holding the attention of the audience. Too slow and people become frustrated and stop watching. Too much too soon and the edge and suspense is lost (no pun intended).

We've discussed numerous issues and concerns regarding Stargate's story/character development, in particular, Sam's and Jack's story, and what keeps us watching or not. For 8 seasons, TPTB have been very successful overall but we all agree that they have shortcomings with the S&J Ship. Not to mention, aw but I will, RDA is gone. He was the glue. Obviously, how they develop this new team dynamic will be critical in the longevity of the show. A successful blend of what works and the new characters/stories is their best shot at Season 10. IMO, keeping the S&J Ship alive is an important part of the show's success!!!

OK, I'm done. :D ;)

She's definitely not writing the scripts. As for canon, Sam and Jack seem to 'work' -- seem almost cosmically drawn to one another -- in every other 'reality' that appears to exist out there. So her quoted remarks notwithstanding, canon itself contradicts that point of view.

She's definitely not writing the scripts. As for canon, Sam and Jack seem to 'work' -- seem almost cosmically drawn to one another -- in every other 'reality' that appears to exist out there. So her quoted remarks notwithstanding, canon itself contradicts that point of view.

That's why it's such an odd quote. It makes no sense, even if she were personally against the ship.

Agreed, and she has enough couth not to disrespect him in front of Jack even if she really wanted to inside.

IMO-Once again AT talks before thinking and upsetting most of her support. How could she think that saying that they "did it" and then went their separate ways, generates any respect for her character. I'm 5 years older then AT and in our day a girl who hopped in and out of beds is called something and to say that about doing this to Jack who has done nothing but support Sam-another term is hooked to her character. Only making me wish (don't kill me) that Jack gets smart and goes back to Kerry, who right now is the only one that show any concern for our beloved Jack's welfare. That a woman who knew what she wanted and when to walk away without her tail between her legs. Can this be said about Sam?
