    Doomsday Protocol - News/Discussion/Speculation

    'Doomsday Protocol' heads to Fox

Shane Salerno has sold his spec script Doomsday Protocol to 20th Century Fox in a seven-figure deal.

The film is envisioned as a science fiction epic inspired by The Seven Samurai that sees aliens and humans unite to save Earth, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Salerno has previously written script drafts for Armageddon, Shaft, Ghost Rider and Alien Vs. Predator: Requiem.

Fox executive Alex Young developed the screenplay with Salerno and will oversee the project for the studio.

    Cameron planning 'Doomsday Protocol'?

James Cameron is reportedly developing a new science fiction film at 20th Century Fox.

According to Production Weekly, the Avatar director is working on "a sci-fi action script for, described as an 'event' film set in the future".

The project is likely to be Doomsday Protocol, which Armageddon scribe Salerno sold to Fox last year. The story is inspired by The Seven Samurai and sees aliens and humans teaming up to save Earth.

The name needs some work, sound to much like a B movie or even worst a SYFY produce movie.

aliens and humans teaming up to save the planet is not exactly unusual but I have never seen it done on a big scale or in a action pack movie before.

I am surprise anyone is hiring James Cameron until after they see how Avatar does, considering the amount of money sunk in to that project an the amount of negative press it retrieve over the trailer it could be the flop of the year.
