So instead of posting spoilers in the general thread, since some people don't like spoilers and now that Fringe has its own folder.

NOTE since this is a spoiler thread, post will not be in spoiler tags!!!!

I've added some already known stuff to posts 2-6.

Question: Any interesting Fringe news? —Sara
Ausiello: We’ll find out what makes Broyles tick this season. Among the revelations: “He’s ex-military,” reveals his portrayer, Lance Reddick, “which probably won’t surprise anyone. You will find out that he’s a colonel and has a very long history with the Fringe division. You will also find out why I got divorced later in the season and my ex-wife will be on screen. We will meet her and that is interesting. That’s actually a big episode for Broyles. In the same episode, we revisit an old case of mine that comes back and rears its ugly head.”

As the title of the season finale hinted, will there really be two of everything this season on Fringe? — Matt
MICKEY: We posed this question to Blair Brown, who plays the cybernetic corporate shark Nina Sharp, and she thinks that's pretty much accurate. There are two realities, after all. But here's a question: How can Dr. Bell live over there? Why hasn't he bumped into his other self? We have no idea, but did Brown say too much when she revealed that Nina Sharp and William Bell can never be in the same room at the same time? Think about it.

7 things you need to do to prepare for Fringe season two

Fox's loony creepy funny sci-fi series Fringe returns on Thursday for a second season, and to help unravel the show's increasingly loopy mythology, stars Lance Reddick (FBI Agent Philip Broyles) and Blair Brown (Massive Dynamic's Nina Sharp) have a primer for you: Everything you need to know to prepare for season two. J.J. Abrams reveals Fringe, Trek 2 and MI4 news

By the time J.J. Abrams made his way down the red carpet for Fox's annual Fall Eco-Casino Party, a group of reporters had to share his limited time. Abrams tried to stall them by playing with their flip cameras and promoting his buddy Greg Grunberg's iPhone app Yowza. SCI FI Wire pressed hard for answers to questions on Fringe's second season, Lost's final season and film projects Star Trek 2 and Mission: Impossible IV. We picked up a few tidbits from the gaggle, too.

From E! Online:

H. Malik: Hello from a desperate Peter-Olivia fan on Fringe. Please, please, please give me something P/O-ish. I broke my toe!
Hope this Peter-Olivia info will make you feel better soon: There are actually some semitender Peter-Olivia moments in the premiere—cold, hard Olivia even lets her guard down at one point and asks Peter for personal help. This could just be another pointless tease, or it could be a sign that the show is finally turning a corner on this key relationship!

http://spoilertv.blogspot.com/2009/09/fringe-cast-interviews-with-spoilers.html

Fringe - Anna Torv Interview

On September 17th, the Fox television drama Fringe is returning for a second thrilling season, as it will continue to explore the unexplained phenomena and terrifying occurrences linked throughout the world, and known as "The Pattern," in pursuit of a larger, more shocking truth.

The FBI's Fringe Division formed when Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) enlisted the help of institutionalized fringe scientist Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his son, Peter (Joshua Jackson), to save her partner and lover from a shocking, indescribable death. Since then, the Fringe team imagines and tests the impossible while investigating unbelievable events, bizarre crimes and mystifying cases involving teleportation, reanimation, genetic mutation, precognition, artificial intelligence, and now parallel realities.

Series star Anna Torv spoke to the press about how Season 2 promises to answer questions, as well as bring new ones to the surface, while the dynamics between the three lead characters will continue to develop and shift.

How long before we see Dr. Bell again on Fringe? — Manuel
MICKEY: Which reality are we in when Season 2 begins? That's a key question to the season premiere — and, presumably, the entire season. Certain events might lead you to believe we're "over there" (you know, where Dr. Bell lives), while others might convince you otherwise. The answer could mean the difference between life and death. In any case, I'm told we'll see Dr. Bell again this fall, but not right away.

Question: Will Olivia and Peter ever get together on Fringe? —Sara

Ausiello: Anna Torv doesn’t think the show should pull the trigger on Polivia for at least another year. “I think definitely we should wait until next season,” she told me at the Emmys. “That’s the way it goes on TV, right? You stretch it for as long as you can.” Yeah, that’s the drill. Torv also revealed that Olivia will get back “over there” in an upcoming episode. “We do go back and get to see the rest of that scene [from the finale].”

Fringe is making me crazy! How am I supposed to know which universe we're in? — Craigger
MICKEY: "Have we been secretively 'over there' when there weren't clues?" asks executive producer Jeff Pinkner. "No. When Olivia crosses over, she will be aware and the audience will be aware. We're not trying to trick anybody." Easy for you to say, Jeff! If you're still confused about what happened to Olivia in that "car crash," fear not: I have it on very good authority that an upcoming episode will deal with that issue head-on, so to speak.

Tracy in Kingman, Ariz.: I'm finding Fringe strangely fascinating this season! What have we got to look forward to?
According to the very charming Lance Reddick, "We've got a real page-turner of an episode coming up that's all about the Observers. And there's a whole episode about Broyles revisiting a case, a killer, that's the one that got away for Broyles. That episode introduces my ex-wife (Karen Holness) and talks about why we got divorced, and what my relationship with Fringe Division was in the past, versus what it is now."

When will we learn what happened when Olivia met Dr. Bell on Fringe's season finale? — Raleigh
MICKEY: Thursday! But don't expect to know everything about that meeting right off the bat. Olivia's memory of the event is hazy, and the clues we do get are puzzling. I can tell you this: Bell gives the enemy a name and presents Olivia with very specific marching orders, albeit without a catchy tagline about a cheerleader.

Question: If somebody put a gun to your head and asked for a Fringe spoiler, how would you scoop your way out? —Nihat
Ausiello: I’d give you a Fringe spoiler. Duh. The episode currently in production — this season’s 10th — features the return of Leonard Nimoy’s William Bell.

Question: Is Astrid ever going to get her time to shine on Fringe? I don’t think we’ve ever seen out of the lab. —Oli
Ausiello: Good news, she’s coming out! “Astrid gets out of the lab a lot more this season,” reveals exec producer Jeff Pinkner. “And we just wrote a Astrid/Walter arc.” Adds fellow e.p. J.H. Wyman: “We adore her. She’s a diamond in the rough, and we know that. And we’re looking actively for ways to expand the character.”

Question: Have we seen the last of Charlie on Fringe? —Kevin
Ausiello: Exec producer Jeff Pinkner isn’t ruling a comeback out. “We’ve already met Charlie’s doppelganger in the alternate reality,” he says. “He still exists.” Adds fellow e.p. J.H. Wyman: “No one ever really dies on Fringe.” BTW, Pinkner insists the exit of Kirk Acevedo’s G-man was strictly a creative decision and not a reflection on the actor himself (despite that whole Facebook debacle). “We wanted to take our team out of the FBI office and a little bit more underground,” he says, “and Charlie was a [casualty] of that.”

Question: Will we meet Olivia’s evil stepfather on Fringe this season? —Zakaria
Ausiello: “We’re talking about it,” responds Jeff Pinkner. “We definitely have been talking about that.”

Question: What happened to the new female FBI agent on Fringe? I thought she was sticking around all season. —Chris
Ausiello: According to Pinkner, Special Agent Jessup (Meghan Markle) is waiting in the wings and may pop up again in the future: “There was never any length of time [assigned to her stay],” he says. “There’s no end date. She’s an available tool in our toolbox and we’ll use her as we see fit. [But] we’re really trying to tell stories about our main characters… we want to get deeper with them, so we don’t have a lot of time to go into the FBI. I think our fans really want to get to know our [core] characters more and that’s what we’re endeavoring to do this year.”

Former Odyssey 5 and Beowulf star Sebastian Roché has joined the cast of Fringe as a recurring villain.

Leonard Nimoy to quit 'Fringe'?

Leonard Nimoy has claimed that he may quit appearing on Fox series Fringe.

The 78-year-old told the Los Angeles Times that he is considering leaving the sci-fi programme, produced by Star Trek director J.J. Abrams.

"I've done three appearances for them. I don't know if I will do a fourth," he said.

Nimoy plays William Bell on the show, the mysterious founder of the Massive Dynamic corporation. He last starred on the October 8 episode.

The actor did not cite a specific reason for his possible departure, but added: "I don't know yet what plans they have for really developing a dramatic story for the character. I'm waiting for a conversation about that. I think they're talking amongst themselves now so they can present some kind of plan, a story arc of some kind."

MICKEY: Lance Reddick himself told me that "over there" Broyles is different in a fundamental way: He's a happily married man. What's that — you didn't realize Broyles was divorced? Well, after Thursday's episode, you will. And you'll also know why.

When will we learn more about the Observers on Fringe? — Cal
MICKEY: On Thursday's episode, we'll meet August, who is just as bald and hairless as last season's Observer (who is rumored to be named September, by the way). It seems that August is doing more than observing, and his meddling could threaten a woman's life... or death. We'll also learn that Observers have been present for many calamitous historical events, and that they're gearing up for the next one, which, sadly, includes Olivia & Co.

http://www.tvguide.com/News/MegaBuzz-Fringe-Mentalist-1012219.aspx

Question: I miss Olivia’s sister and niece on Fringe. Will they be back this year? They showed Olivia’s softer side, something this season is lacking. —Sebastian
Ausiello: The niece is back in this week’s fantastic Observer-themed eppy (the first three minutes of which you can watch here), but Olivia’s sis is MIA. Ari Graynor’s busy movie career keeps getting in the way of a return engagement, but producers aren’t giving up. If the scheduling can be worked out, we will probably see Rachel by season’s end.

Amanda in Menlo Park, N.J.: Last week's episode of Fringe with the Observers was sooo good. What else is going on with that show?
According to Fringe exec producer Jeff Pinkner, here's what you can look forward to in upcoming episodes: "We deal with an outbreak-type condition...[There's] an episode that's really big and fun and crazy about how what it is that we think we're seeing isn't necessarily the truth. And in a couple of episodes, we drop a bombshell for our characters and one of the big dormant secrets, one of the bombs of the table, as it were, goes off. Perhaps it will be blow apart our team, and certainly it will change the nature of their relationship. We delve a little bit more directly with the alternate universe and what's going on over there and how it may affect our world. We also have a really cool episode coming up that deals with Walter's (John Noble) memory and William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) specifically."

Anna S.: In all the recent press releases for Fringe, including ones released following his character's demise, Kirk Acevedo is listed as one of the stars. Does this mean that we can expect to see him again?
I'm told this is a "formatting issue" that the network has tried to correct but which keeps slipping through. Translation: Kirk's gone from Fringe and not coming back, and anything you see to the contrary is a typo.

Fringe - Episode 2.10 - Grey Matters - Press Release

DR. WALTER BISHOP’S BRAININESS TAKES ON NEW MEANING AND WILLIAM BELL RETURNS ON AN ALL-NEW “FRINGE” THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, ON FOX

A Fringe investigation is triggered when a patient at a mental institution undergoes an impromptu brain surgery that unexpectedly leaves his brain exposed. Despite the unthinkable circumstances, the patient’s condition and sanity miraculously improves before the Fringe team arrives. While Agent Dunham and Peter scan surveillance tapes (and Walter enjoys his pudding), Olivia recognizes a familiar face as Thomas Jerome Newton (guest star Sebastian Roche), the leader of the “shape-shifters.” As similar cases stack up, the Fringe team heads back to the lab to determine exactly how patients are being cured. Walter’s brains are put to the test and William Bell (guest star Leonard Nimoy) resurfaces in the all-new “Grey Matters” episode of FRINGE airing Thursday, Dec. 10 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The Bishop family unit is complete!

'Fringe' exclusive: It's Walter vs. William in the finale!

It’s the showdown we’ve been waiting for. Fringe’s second-season finale this spring will feature a long-awaited confrontation between weird science partners-turned-frenemies William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) and Walter Bishop (John Noble). “William and Walter will finally face off in the finale,” confirms consulting producer Akiva Goldsman, who is directing the two-part episode (written by exec producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman). “These [characters] have so much that they’re bringing to bear. And Leonard and John are two fantastic actors.”

The William/Walter reunion is just one of several mythology-related payoffs Fringe has in store in this season’s final episodes. “We’re going to be looking very closely into Peter’s [Joshua Jackson] identity, Walter’s choices in the past, and Walter’s choices in the future,” reveals Goldsman. “And by the end of the season, we’re all going over to the other side. “We’re trying to do the last two episodes as a singular event, a little bit more movie-like,” elaborates the acclaimed auteur, who won an Oscar for his adaptation of A Beautiful Mind. “It’s really one big story. We’re approaching it like a mini-feature. It’ll have a singular narrative drive.”

But will it have any closure should, heaven forbid, the episode turn out to be a series finale? “Good stories typically have sufficient closure, but also have the promise of continuing — even if you’re not watching them continue,” he says. “So, short of killing somebody — which we’re not doing — we’re just treating it like the end of a movement, not the end of a symphony.”

Question: When are we going to get some background info about Peter on Fringe? We know he is from the alt universe, but other than that we know very little about him. —EmilyAusiello: I have a hunch we’ll learn more in the April 1 episode, titled “Peter.” “It’s a window into the mysteries of Peter that have been promised since the first season,” explains consulting producer Akiva Goldsman. “It’s an episode that’s fundamentally about his relationship to Walter and the truth of where they are right now, which is pretty revelatory to the characters and hopefully the audience.” Will he finally find out that he’s from ‘over there’? “By the end of [the Feb. 4 episode] and into [the April 1 episode] questions about Peter’s identity and mortality go a long way towards being answered.”

Question: When are we going see some development in the Peter/Olivia relationship on Fringe? —SerenaAusiello: “The romantic elements of their relationship will come forward pretty soon,” teases Akiva Goldsman. “Like any courtship, it wanes, and then it comes back again. So that’s going to make another move forward [on Feb. 4], and then we’ll keep addressing it throughout the season.”

Question: I want to know if they’re ever going to use Special Agent Amy Jessup again on Fringe. I thought she was going to be Charlie’s replacement, then she just disappeared. —Emma
Ausiello: Responds Akiva Goldsman: “You have not seen the last of Agent Jessup.” And what about Charlie? “I plead the Fifth on that one.”

Emily in Tallahassee, Fla.: I'm not expecting a big makeout scene, but is there any hint of Olivia/Peter coming up in Fringe?
Ahem. Everybody must watch this week's Fringe (but especially you Emily in Tallahassee, Fla.) even if you've been wavering a bit on that series. Something that we've been waiting to see since the pilot finally (finally!) happens. The scenes in question are totally gratifying (albeit rushed a bit, when this subplot might have been better served with a little foreplay preamble), but then what we are given is snatched away again, in totally heartbreaking and perfect TV form. Excellent work, Bad Robots. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Question: I am so ecstatic that Fringe was picked up for a third season. Help us celebrate by giving us a scoop about the second half of this season. —Erin

Ausiello: I think exec producer Jeff Pinkner has something he’d like to get off his chest: “At the beginning of the next episode, Peter and Olivia are in bed together.” I know what you’re thinking — he’s got to be kidding. Well, guess what?!?! Yep, he’s totally kidding. Fellow executive producer J.H. Wyman, however, is as serious as a heart attack when he says any romance between the two “needs to be earned… it’s trite TV when it’s not. We want to avoid that. We wanted to avoid that from the beginning.” Wyman goes on to tease that this season’s final episodes will feature a number of “revelations about their relationship and who they are.”

Fringe left us with a crazy cliff-hanger. What will Olivia do with her newfound knowledge about Peter? — Brandt
MICKEY: The first post-hiatus episode, April 1's "Peter," is an '80s flashback blockbuster in which Walter finally tells Olivia the truth about his son. It fills in almost all the gaps in Peter's mysterious backstory: why Olivia sees him glimmer, how he was cured and why he owes the Observer his life. Plus: We'll meet Peter's mother for the first time and get a pretty good idea how Nina Sharp lost her arm to "cancer."

Fringe - Musical Episode Details

Move over, Glee! Come April 29th, another Fox fave will be getting its song on. While visiting the set of the just renewed Fringe, TV Guide Magazine chatted with members of the Vancouver-based cast and got some details on “Overture,” their upcoming (and downright inspired) musical episode.

“Oh, it’s gonna be a blast,” enthused Lance Reddick, who plays Fringe Division tough guy Phillip Broyles. “It’s basically Walter telling a bedtime story to Olivia’s niece and so it has these extreme versions of [the cast].” Among the highlights we can reportedly expect from the nourish fantasia are Reddick’s Broyles tickling the ivories and taking on a Traffic tune, Jasika Nicole’s Astrid performing a ditty from “A Chorus Line,” and Anna Torv’s usually stoic Agent Olivia Dunham vamping it up as a private eye…as well as being serenaded by the last person you’d imagine. “I sing a song to Olivia, which is certainly confusing,” laughs Blair Brown, clearly relishing the oddity of her tech-firm bad-ass Nina Sharp breaking into song. Then again, it wouldn’t be Fringe if things weren’t a little freaky, right?

Tim in Ann Arbor, Mich.: Fringe is coming back! What does Olivia do about Peter? Does she tell him she knows he comes from the "other side"?
We don't see even a glimmer of Joshua Jackson when Fringe returns April 1, which of course begs the Q: Did producer Julie Plec burst through a high-tech "window" and steal him away to her alternate (Vampire Diaries) universe?! No, but that's what the whole April 1 episode of Fringe is about, and it rocks. Olivia (Anna Torv), furiously confronts Walter (John Noble), who recounts the heartbreaking events that led to his abduction of the other universe's Peter. Our heads still hurt from trying to process all the ramifications, but it seems everyone has doubles in the similar-different alternate universe, and by crossing over Walt did a very bad thing. In all fairness, if Walter hadn't abducted him, both Peters would be dead—and Joey wouldn't have to choose between Dawson and Pacey.

Tell me more about Peter's mother on Fringe. Will we meet her soon? — Tamara
MICKEY: I think it's probably convenient to think of Peter's mom as Walter's saintly, put-upon partner. And that's not exactly inaccurate. But the truth is, Elizabeth Bishop has as much to do with Peter's unique fate as Walter does, so meeting her will be something of a blockbuster for Fringe fans. Also: Look for Nina Sharp to make her own maternal declaration.

'Dirty Sexy Money' actor joins 'Fringe'

Dirty Sexy Money star Seth Gabel has reportedly joined Fox's Fringe. The 28-year-old has been cast as the top Fringe case investigator in the show's alternate universe, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Gabel will appear on the sci-fi series' two-part season ender, scheduled to air on May 13 and May 20. It is said that the actor could reprise the role next season.

Fringe consulting producer Akiva Goldsman revealed that the season finale will take a more cinematic approach and mostly occur in the alternate universe.

"We're trying to do the last two episodes as a singular event, a little bit more movie-like," he said. Goldsman added: "It's really one big story. We're approaching it like a mini-feature. It'll have a singular narrative drive."

'Fringe' exclusive: First look at the musical episode

Fox’s just-renewed Fringe will take a page from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Scrubs by staging a musical inside inside the mind of mad scientist Walter.

“We didn’t set out to do a musical,” maintains executive producer Jeff Pinkner. “We set out to do an episode that explored Walter’s state of mind — he’s dealing with some very upsetting news. When we realized that the way Walter would deal with such news would be to try to anesthetize himself with copious amounts of marijuana, well, singing and dancing became a natural outcome.”

Anna Torv’s Olivia — who adopts a retro private-eye persona (see above) — plays a central role in Walter’s drug-induced fairy tale. Teases Pinkner: “It’ll be interesting to see how Walter really perceives her.”

MICKEY: Olivia and Walter make their way "over there" for the two part-finale (May 13 and 20, 9/8c, Fox), in which Walter finally comes face to face with his former partner, Dr. William Bell (guest star Leonard Nimoy). Unfortunately, traveling to another universe has its consequences, and in this case those include someone dying. Question: Any scoop on a possible Olivia-Peter romance on Fringe? —Ella
Ausiello: As the season winds down, the “primary question is going to become what will happen to their relationship once [Peter] finds out the truth about who he is?” offers executive producer Jeff Pinkner. “Will that forever shatter what is building between them?” It’s the ol’ answer-a-question-with-a-question tactic! I’m on to you, Pinkner!

Question: Your May Sweeps Scorecard is making my palms sweat. Is Fringe represented in any of those categories? —Dave
Ausiello: Fringe is represented in AT LEAST two categories, one of which is “Confirmed Fatalities.”

Wow, it does look a bit lame. I'll still watch it though. One issue that I have is its become a bit formulaic: something bad happens almost always in or around Boston and the 4 person team investigates. If some of you have seen Smallville the early seasons, it's kinda like that where there's a meteor freak that Clark kills or accidentally kills or gives convenient amnesia/coma every week.

Let's just give it a shot before we start calling it lame. I think this show has earned at least that.

Ok, not lame just sorta cheesy, like that early Walter episode. How they did the intro that 80's style? Bit cheesy. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the episodes.

maybe that is AltBelly.

I did see a link on a spoilers site a few weeks back about Mr Nimoy letting slip some huge spoilers about the finale, but I resisted the temptation to click on it, even so I've put that in a spoiler bracket just incase I've inadvertently guessed the plot.

And it's so obvious Walter is going to be mistaken for AltWalter at the Hospital LOL (again didn't see trailer for next week if they showed one).

Yup, it was a pretty obvious twist (although that might have been the plan all along, to make it easy to work out).

I do wonder however, how did

Oliver open the door, the Alt Universe seemed quiet different and we found out that Bell and Walternate never crossed paths until quiet recently and AltBell died young, so by assumption they never experimented on the kids like Bell and Walter did here, so she'd never been given the power like she was here.

Guess we can let that little detail slip though :)

And of course, it'll be Peter who works it out...

It was Bell who provided the required power to cross them all back, so Oliver didn't need to do anything.

Why are you people calling Olivia "Oliver?" Did she have a sex change in the other dimension?

If I remember from the episode...it was Olivia who would open a "crack" and Bell would provide the energy needed to open the crack via the device he brought.

My understanding was that the crack was already there, and Bell did everything else. Because he had crossed over so many times he could easily do it, and AltOlivia didn't have to do anything.

I prefer Oliver over AltOlivia :D
