Is that one on ff.net? If so, I'd like a link!

Sorry it's taken me so long, but here's the fic I mentioned, the one with Daniel and Sam meeting as kids.

Autumn of 73 (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3632252/1/Autumn-of-73) by MaureenT
In the autumn of 1973, two children meet, one shattered by tragedy, the other lonely and bitter, and forge a friendship that will change their lives. Daniel & Sam friendship fic.

I'd recommend copying the actual text of that post here, rather than just a link. It's more likely to be read.

I have a few. Most of them are poly-shipping ideas. I might get around to writing them someday, but right now I don't have the machinery moving.

I'm thinking of a nice polyandry one with Vala where she manages to keep several guys in her life including Tomin, Ba'al's host, Daniel, and maybe a few other husbands she left behind. I think it would work well for her because of how brutally honest she is.

Idea I got from the discussion on the pet peeve thread:

Marty is a crazy killer, and is only kept from murdering women by Lantesh! Sam finds out, after Marty has been putting the move on her, and Jack saves her. Lots of angst and Jack must comfort Sam.

Someone plz write this! Virtual cookies!

A few weird plot ideas for anyone who likes writing stories and is actually good (unlike me) at writing stories lol

1) Pre-Atlantis city
As the ice in Antarctica continues to melt a massive chunk of ice breaks away and an patrolling/research vessel sees a piece of a structure sticking out the side of the ice when the chunk broke away. After going in for a closer luck and some weeks/months of excavation they discover the remains of a city the Ancients built before building Atlantis. The city is where the Ancients researched, built and tested various forms of technology like the Ancient chair, communication devices and Stargates themselves and the place where they build Destiny and the Seed ships before sending them out into space. It could make a good story for present day discovery of old prototype tech.

2) Solar Gate
When the Ancients built and launched Destiny they did plan on one day gating on board but how where they panning on doing that?. May be at the same time as building Destiny they also built a way to gate on board using the same technology that's used to power Destiny 'Solar Power' and they created a small "space station" type thing with a gate inside it that only dials Destiny and this space station was sent in orbit around/just within our Sun (hidden from view obviously otherwise we would have seen it long ago lol) and the Ancients planned to use it to get to Destiny but they obviously didn't and it's been left there for millions of years but powered by solar power it had shields powerful enough to survive for this long. Perhaps after millions of years however it's now deteriorating and safety protocols kick in and it moves out of/away from the sun and that is when Earth detects it.
It would be so easy to use it to get to Destiny and save the day but we cant have that lol. Instead may be because it's deteriorating it's about to break apart and it's only capable of establishing a connection for a few seconds before it goes boom and they use this once in a life time never to be repeated chance to send Destiny some supplies or something.

3) Gate Mod
Rodney finds a gate address "highlighted" in the Ancient database with no information about the planet so Sheppard's team gate to it (fill in the blanks) and they turn around to dial out and notice something different about the gate. The gate has 2 sort of flaps at the bottom sides of it and after Rodney investigates he quickly notices that these are in fact 'slots' for ZPM's. They go back to Atlantis and report what they found, a few theories and wacky ideas are thrown around until they convince Earth to let them take 2 ZPM's back to the planet and plug them in to the gate to see what happens...I have no idea what happens so you will have to fill in the rest yourself lol. Interesting and weird idea though :P

Here's a plot bunny I've had in my head since I re-watched the season 9 episode Ripple Effect on DVD.

On an average day at the SGC an alternate SG-1 comes through the gate and they are of a foreign nationality who are shocked to see Americans at the SGC as after the episode Disclosure in their universe, World War 3 started and ended with a victory against the US by the UN. Who took control of the SGC and have been running ever since to look after international interests.

Something I'd like in the story but it's not compulsory is that two of the members of the foreign team are Vala and Cameron Mitchell with romance between them or friendship either one is fine.

So I think this thread is a little dead but I'll stick my bunny up anyway- I have the scene in my head but need to write my thesis so wont even attempt to try and write it so if anyone can do it justice please take it- at least by putting it here I get it out of my head! :)
Jack dragging Sam through the gate badly beaten and him injuried too- Janet putting Sam on a gurney and asking what ahppened to her and Jack answering he did this to her.
Cheers!

Here is an idea for an earlier Atlantis Expedition that is not only carried out by a multi-planet expedition but also has Earth play a "junior" roll for a change ("Humanity ***** Yeah!" fics are good sometimes but a little variety and originality never hurts, right? ;)) :

The location of Atlantis is discovers much earlier -- maybe sometime between season 4 & 6 of SG-1. The Tok'Ra archeologists find the tablet written in the language of the Ancients describing a cache of advanced weapons and technology in a hidden location (http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Prometheus_(episode)#Notes) which turns out to be Atlantis. The Tok'Ra decipher the Stargate address but realize it is so far away that they don't have a power source that can sustain a wormhole from Milky Way to Atlantis. Fortunately for the Tok'Ra, they're friends with the Tollan who have power sources so powerful it can alter solar systems.

After agreeing on a joint mission to Pegasus, the Tok'Ra and Tollan next contact the Nox. After all, the Nox are friends of the Tollan and members of the Allegiance of the Four Great Races, so their insight would be be invaluable.

The Nox explain that much of Ancient technology can only be operated by the Lanteans and their genetic descendants due to the ATA gene, dashing the hopes of the Tollan and Tok'Ra would-be explorers. But all is not lost: from the information exchanged with the SGC, the Tok'Ra & Tollan learn about Col. O'Neill's experience with the Ancient Repository of Knowledge and deduce that he and other Tau'ri like him must have the ATA gene. Thus the "primitive" humans are allowed a spot on the expedition too.

And that's how you end up with a multi-planetary coalition of Tau'ri, Tollan, Tok'Ra and Nox on Atlantis :). They come seeking weapons against the Goa'uld ... only to end up meeting new enemies & powerful http://forum.gateworld.net/images/gw_smilies/wraith23.gif.

I'm going to have to do some back reading here, I need something new to write.
I don't suppose anyone can tell me if any of these have been done already, not that it you matter really, would still be a different story if I did it as well.:D

heres an idea that I don't think anyone's had yet, I've been thinking about Ma'chello's mind transfer device and well this device have some possiblities for accidental mayhem that nobody seems to have explored yet. so lets say something like this:

Jacob/selmak and Anise were walking down the corridor at the sgc having just extracted a goa'uld that was captured by the sgc from its host. Sam happened to walk by carrying the mind switch device. Jacob stops to talk to his daughter for a bit and the captured symbiote decides that this is the perfect time for the great escape goa'uld edition and just out of its container (faulty stasis jar?). However the symbiote quickly realizes that it didn't think this one through and lands rather ungracefully on the mind switch device activating it. the device proceeds to performe its specified function but malfunctions spectacularily mid way through (possibily due to Carter's jury rigging or maybe some rookie lab tech broke something without realising it) knocking everyone out. Carter regains consciousness in the symbiotes body and is now stuck there possibily permenantly due to the faulty transfer making it dangerous/impossible to reverse even for the asgard. the symbiote's mind did not survive the transfer process (or it did depends). queue confusion and mayhem. For added problems with the tok'ra make the symbiote a queen.

p.s. If someone here does indeed adopt this idea and writes a story (preferably long and not slash but don't care if it is) could you pm me the link as i would like to read it.

An idea I've read on another forum:
we know from Stargate: SG-1 episode “The Road Not Taken” that in one alternative reality McKay quit work in the field of theoretical physics and went on to become a “dot com millionaire smartass”.

So what if he became a millionaire businessman in a world where U.S. Stargate Program never existed? What if he then *somehow* gets access to the Stargate and decides to start a company-run, for-profit Stargate project?

That's a really interesting idea! I hope someone writes it!

I think I've actually read a fic that had a Tok'ra and a human switch. Actually, I think I've read two. One where it was the Tok'ra and a member of SG-1 (swtched with Ma'chello device), and the other was host and symbiote switched - that was Jacob and Selmak I think.

If these stories ring a bell with anyone, I'd like to know the titles, because I've long since forgotten that!

There are some fics that look at a mirror universe, or several different timelines, but I am not sure what you mean by inverted/mirror. Do you mean like in Star Trek? So SGC would be evil?

I have seen fics where

-Earth is subjugated by Ra (again or still). There are no Tok'ra

-SG-1 messes with some alien device which changes the timeline, and they go to several different Earths

-the Goa'uld are good, the Tok'ra are evil

I stay away from body swapping stuff for reasons like this. Doesn't matter what the gender of the person you switch with is, you always go into the awkward zone because they do eventually have to use the toilet.

I particularly enjoy this concept because with how much Daniel ranted about being stuck to Vala via bracelets, imagine his rants if he swaps bodies with her.

Off the top of my head: Weir does stand-up comedy, Sheppard and Teyla do a country and Western medley, Ronon juggles (probably knives, but hey!) etc.

Just throwing the idea out there.

Hey,

got an idea for a plot:

I was re-watching SG-1 S01E20 "Politics" and when Daniel said that they should all leave through the gate (after Teal'c said that he must leave through the gate, if they plan to bury it) that got me thinking - so my bunny is the following:

If Kinsey really managed to shut the SGC down (note: without the threat of the Goa'uld attack hanging over them, so Earth should not be destroyed) by becoming President (or another way, though the becoming president idea is better IMHO as after 4 years Kinsey should IMHO not be re-elected and another president would then re-start the SGC and open the gate again) and if SG-1 (and others - if they really planned to go out there to stay, I guess Jack and the others would recruit people willing to go along with them) left, how would they be doing? Would they fail (it's an option - though not a good one)? Would they thrive (better option!)? Would they shed some of their - often inconvenient morals (and become more like the NID - stealing technologies, weapons and supplies)?

AND:

How would they react to meeting a new stargate team after being on their own for years? Would they even want to go back? Would relationships have formed (that's one for the shippers...Sam/Jack is a real possibility here)? Would they have met some of the other races/characters (the Tok'ra for example)? etc. :)

So, the bunny is your's - don't know if I could pull it off :(

greetings LAX

SG1 or some other SG team gets sent to the future and find that Earth has turned evil. The concept of being the fifth race has corrupted the people in charge and they now use all the technology found and the ones the Asgard left behind for conquest and galactic domination.

Wish I had the skill to write something like that.

Here is a plot bunny from me: as the people on Destiny try to decipher the ship's secrets the SGC decides to get help from someone with years of experiance with Ancient technology. Specifically, someone with 10 000 years of experience: they get Todd (who as far as we know is still a prisoner of the Tau'ri).

So if Todd were to use the communication stones, what would he think of Destiny and the people aboard? And how would whomever swaps places with him feel about living in a Wraith's body? What would they make of the Wraith's telepathic powers?

I have a fanfic series I started long ago, and had to abandon for the last few years just for lack of time. Now, I need bunnies. I have never raised a teenager and only vaguely remember being one, so I need just basic life ideas for Janet and Cassie. For the record, I ship Sam and Janet and the stories would include that. I just want you to know what kind of home your bunny is looking at with me.

I've looked through a lot of this and haven't seen much, so I'm putting in an adoption application. Thank you for any help!

Hm... I was wondering, is there any way to work this into a Stargate fanfic?

http://listverse.com/2014/05/27/10-creepy-stories-of-encounters-with-men-in-black/

Albert Bender was the director of an amateur organization called the International Flying Saucer Bureau and he believed that he had finally blown the lid off the whole flying saucer thing. He had his own publication called Space Review in which he planned to spread his discovery. After compiling all of his collected wisdom on the matter, he mailed it to a friend to look it over before he unveiled it to the world. Unfortunately, this attracted the attention of the men in black, who decided that it was time to pay him a visit and prevent him from leaking all their secrets to the world.

A couple days later, Bender was on his bed when he suddenly had a dizzy spell (http://www.ufoevidence.org/documents/doc1693.htm). He noticed several dark shapes in the room with him that slowly materialized into men in black suits with black hats obscuring their eyes and faces. He noticed in particular that the men’s eyes lit up with an incredible glow and they seemed capable of speaking directly to his mind. They made him promise to destroy his findings and cease all of his research into the subject—Bender was so scared that he was only too happy to comply. Emphasis added by me.

So if one were to assume those Men in Black were Goa'uld... what would they be doing on 1950s Earth & why would they care about Bender?

OK, here is an idea:

It's August 1, 2008.

The world is looking forward to the upcoming Beijing Olympics, Zimbabwe is fighting hyperinflation, tensions are growing between South Ossetian separatists and the government of Georgia, the latest film based on a Stephenie Meyer’s sparkling-vampire novel is about to hit theaters, the US presidential election campaign is in full swing... and a mysterious vessel appears in Earth's orbit (http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/The_Daedalus_Variations).

http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/stargate/images/f/f8/Daedalus_Variations2.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20081010220948

Communication with the unknown ship proves futile, though high-powered telescopic images show that the "alien" vessel seems to have standard docking bays able to interlock with human spacecraft. After much deliberation, a joint NASA-ESA-Roscosmos crew is sent on a space shuttle to dock with the silent visitor...

So yeah, what if the Daedalus's alternate reality drive trials were conducted over Earth instead of Atlantis? What if the drive burns out over an Earth that never discovered its Stargates and has no idea about what's going on in the galaxy? Perhaps some of the original crew is on board to explain to NASA-ESA-Roscosmos what exactly is going on?

Here is something I never realized: the actor that played Varro, the Lucian Alliance soldier from S.G.U.? He previously portrayed a bunch of one-shot characters (http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Mike_Dopud) on Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis. One of the characters he played as on SG-1 was Odai Ventrell (http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Odai_Ventrell), a ruthless bounty-hunter that during his one and only appearance on the show nearly captured SG-1 and was implied to have in the end killed the leader of the Lucian Alliance, Netan.

So what if there is more to "Varro" than meets the eye? Perhaps he and Odai are in fact one and the same – he could have been sent to infiltrate Commander Kiva's strike force by a rival Lucian warlord, using the persona of "Varro" as a disguise. No one at the S.G.C. would be able to unmask him since during his time on Destiny he (IIRC) never met face-to-face with any members of SG-1 (Cam, Daniel, Sam, Vala or Teal'c) using the communication stones.

I'm... not sure where such a plot could be headed but it seems like an interesting idea to ponder.

Here's a couple ideas I've had in my head...these couple are episode ideas/plot lines I've had in mind for an SGU Season 3 that I thought were worth sharing.

Plot/Story Ideas:

* The first episode would show Destiny crossing paths with an asteroid that had been converted into an Ancient repair station by automated robots left by a seed ship. Nakai vessels would find this and attempt to board Destiny on it's approach to be repaired. They would ultimately be thwarted (I imagine this episode as a homage to Die Hard in terms of how this happens), and Destiny would be returned close to it's original state (but not quite).

* Episode 2 would be where the crew as a whole wakes up and learns of what's happened over the three years. Episode would end with Destiny finding a ton of Stargates; way more than the seed ships could or would produce.

* Eli would reveal that on orders from Homeworld Command he faked the broken stasis pod. This was done so that after the crew went into stasis he could use the stones to switch with Telford, who would take his place in stasis. Eli would spend the three years on Earth in Telford's body helping the SGC.

* Eli's main project was the development of a new ship; the Icarus. A science-exploration vessel modeled after Destiny and most importantly recreates Destiny's solar power collection system. If all works as planned, the solar power system in conjunction with additional generators will have the power to dial Destiny. Ship has had a maiden sub-light voyage but yet to test the solar collectors.

* The Lucian Alliance War continues, their newest tactic is to destabilize Earth by making contact with rogue governments/groups on Earth such as North Korea and supplying them with advanced weapons and tech.

Ok so this might be counted as less of a plot bunny and more of a gripe/challenge. Both in the series and in stories we hear that Jack was Special Ops/Black Ops, there is mention of him being the best fighter on base, yet more often then not in the series and in fanfic we never see Jack being a true bad-ass in a fight. He tends to get his arse handed to him a lot more then he kicks ass. So here is my challenge to all the writers out there. Write a fic and show off how much of a bad-ass Jack truely can be. (bonus points for super-powers without the "Upgrade" bracers)

Plot bunny: After meeting Kinsey and all the trouble with NID, Jack talks with Sam about coming up with contingency plans to deal with any possible threat from Kinsey, and puts into place the ground work for as many possible plans and backup plans as possible. What sort of outrageous scenarios can they come up with? What plans to counter those scenarios can they create? And what happens when Kinsey finally makes a move against Jack and SG-1?

Must start after the episode Politics and Kinsey must make his move against the team around the time of New Order. Can be J/S but can also be non-ship. Please no serious whumpage though minor whump is fine. (Though if you want to seriously whump Kinsey have fun.)

This has sparked an idea but I don't think it completely matches the brief. It's got a shippy (J/S) twist. I'll post a link when it's ready!

Cool. I've already read some of your stargate stories. It's fine if it doesn't match the challenge completely, like I said bonus points for Jack having/getting superpowers. Mostly because I find the idea of Jack O'Neill with superpowers more then a little funny.

One of the Ori does something beyond stupid and messes with the Timeline in such a way that the Ascended Ancients have to find a way to fix the mistakes before the entire universe collapses, how do they do that? They cause General Jack O'Neill to start reliving events of his past. Starting with Sam saying they could just leave it in the room. How will Jack change things? Will the Ancients allow him to make changes or will they force him to relive events the same way he remembers them? Can he save some of the people that were lost the first time round? Or will he be forced to watch friends die again? Why did the Ancients pick him to live in this groundhog days take two?

Gah. I'm having far to many Plot Bunnies pop into my head. Here is another. Have fun.

(set between season 3 and before season 8 can be completely AU or just partly) A peice of alien technology gives Jack massive bird wings and lets him fly around with them. Problem is he can't hide them nor get rid of them. At first they don't know that the wings are technology. But there are so many little gadgets in Sam's lab Jack has touched nearlly all of them, so which one gave him the wings and how do they get rid of the wings? The wings seem to be organic untill they are proven to be some sort of nano metal, how are they proven to be nano metal? How does Jack learn to use them? What does Jack do with them? Is Jack the only one able to use the technology or can anyone use it? If Jack is the only one that can use the wings, does he keep them or does something happen to them or are they given to NID or Area 51 to study?

Small edit, sorry for that.

You know, I always thought it would be cool to have seen an episode where SG1 disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and after a reasonable length of time Hammond was ordered to give up the search and resume normal SG operations. So he takes a leave of absence, and gets with Jacob and Bratac to locate and rescue SG1. A one off story with just the three 'old guys'.I was just browsing this thread when I noticed your post.

Not sure if you or anyone cares since your post dates back to 2012 but... there is a fun, well-written fic out there called "Gate Cowboys" featuring that basic premise (Hammond, Jacob and Bratac have to go off world & rescue SG-1):

This one is just for lols. Jack dreams he is Corvo Attano (yes I know that Dishonored came out in 2012 way after the last Stargate episode. Just say it came out way sooner if you actually include the game) he can be in a coma or just a normal dream doesn't matter. How would Jack make use of Corvo's powers from the Outsider? (Or you can use Daud's or Emily's powers from Dishonored 2) Now answer another question, was it really a dream or was it a past life? (*cough* Ancient *cough* XD ) Basically this is meant to be a fun romp combining Stargate and Dishonored in some fashion.

So I think most SG-1 fans would agree that the show's use of the Arthurian legend in season 9 and 10 wasn't one of its strong points. The blending of the original legends with the show's own mythology was rather superficial and left a whole bunch of plot holes.

Still, given that there are tons of stories and myths associated with not only King Arthur but his knights too, I think there are actually some interesting tales that can be weaved into SG-1 fanfics.

For example, the Vulgate Cycle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancelot-Grail) has Galahad and a bunch of other knights questing for the Grail when they come across a mysterious self-piloting ship. The CliffsNotes version of the myth can be found here (http://www.timelessmyths.com/arthurian/quest2.html#Ship), here (http://www.timelessmyths.com/arthurian/grail.html#Ship) and here (http://www.timelessmyths.com/arthurian/grail.html#StrangeBelt), but the gist of it is:

The enchanted ship was built by King Solomon and incorporated in its construction wood from the Garden of Eden itself.
Only those with complete faith in God can enter the vessel.
Onboard the ship is a magic sword capable of laying waste to whole kingdoms... with the caveat that anyone "unworthy" using it will be punished by divine powers.
Since in the SG-verse the Knights of the Round Table had contact with the Ancients and their grail-quest took them across different planets, it could be that "King Solomon's vessel" is actually a Lantean spaceship. It's controlled by an A.I., thus operates without a crew as-per the legend. All those warnings about "only those of faith/those who are worthy can enter" might mean it has ATA sensors or perhaps active measures against those controlled by Goa'uld/Ori. And the "magic sword" is obviously a Big Honking Spacegun.

I'd think a fic where S.G.C. finds such a ship and uses it to break an Ori siege of Earth or something would be an interesting read.

A bit of a rewrite with the fourth season.

Elizabeth Weir was able to escape from the Replicators. After freezing and tricking Oberoth, she was also able to kill him (in similar fashion she killed that one Replicator in "Ghost in the Machine"). After returning to Atlantis, she, and other personnel are questioned severely about whether Weir can be trusted to still head the Atlantis Expedition. Ultimately, with the support of her comrades, she is put in command, though Sheppard and Rodney are commanded to keep watch on her for any strange behavior she may display. Also, while the nanites are keeping her alive, while she is not in proximity of the other Replicators, she is unable to access the Replicator abilities, and she has no connection with them.

So like one "episode" could be where she begins acting very strange and out of character, causing others to be concerned (could be justified, or she could be acting strange for a personal reason). Just the lingering concern from both Weir and the team, wondering if her mind is still her's.

Several years ago I tried to write my own fanfic, I was a teenager with no experience with writing and I never actually finish it. Even though my version is not good, I think that whole story has good potential for an experienced writer. I kind of feel nostalgic and sad that it was never published.

The whole idea is set in AU (or more precisely in future of SG-1 TV show) with no characters from TV. It supposes to be written like SG-1, every chapter has its own story. So it could be a very big project. I have a basic idea about the situation in the galaxy, several characters and story for few chapters with some ideas for future. I would not want to limit author imagination, I would just like if you would keep some of my characters the way I make them. And maybe discuss ideas with me or let me beta read the story.

I don't want to reveal the whole story publicly. If there is someone who is interested, I would tell him/her more. But goa'ulds are back, SGC is still secret and exploring new planets - like old times.

I wanted to write this plot bunny, but its been sitting idle in my head for about three months now.

Okay the plot bunny went like this, the SGA team are exploring a planet when they run into a Wraith child, whose caretaker is a female human that looks around 50 or so. However, she is actually only 25, has been willingly feeding the child Wraith for a few years now, and has developed a maternal relationship with the kid as well.

And the entire story was to evolve around the moral issues concerning what to do with the Wraith child, the opposing veiws that would arise, explore the idea that the Wraith aren't actually evil, but are just living creatures that want to live, and a team developing fic.

However, I could never get the idea to evolve with in character characters.

I know this is from page one and there's about a dozen other pages or so, but I've been considering something like this for a long time. I never figured out how to put it in my fic, which is all about defining cultural and personal identity and what makes someone a person (the answer isn't DNA).

Here are some ideas that i am using in my fan fics

B)An asasination attempt

I'm doing this one. In fact, multiple attempts (get back here, character!)

I'm starting to ponder if I should write a totally non-canon fanfiction about a deascended Ancient in modern times. Discovering evidence that the Ancients are somehow descended from modern humans an example is that he discovers same Neanderthals DNA in modern human and a Ancients/Lantean population.

For some context my totally non-canon headcanon is that the Alterans are descended from time traveling humans from earth back in time some + 50 millions of years ago across the galaxies.
