The Stargate powers that be have been very careful to make the presidents and Kinsey politically ambivolent. There are arguments to be made for either party, but the real answer is they are not bringing American politics into the series.
Oh, and it's religious right, not religious rite. Though I'm sure he's performed his share of religious rites in his day.

kinsey's never been stated to be of any political party. he jsut is what he is
in this case, he's been written to be very, very...well rather goauld like to be honest.
he has blind faith in machinery/technology, he has his blind faith in 'god' (not making a religous statement here, just how the character is)...and i think it's so very ironic that he's got this blind faith in a deity saving earth...from an impending invasion by creatures who exist pretending to be deities

i always got the impression that kinsey was that way to gain more political support. the whole fundie thing alsways struck me as an act, all he really cares about is his personal power, sadly the same thing could be said for a lot of real life politicians as well, which makes the whole kinsey character that much more real and dynamic

I don't think it's appropriate to make fun of others religious views. I live in a red state. I have many very good friends who would describe themselves as fundamentalists. Equating real people, and real people's religious believes to a television bad guy is what is scary to me.

We all need to remember that politics is an explosive subject and I find it extremely sad when it is pushed into a discussion of something like a television show.
