    Ring controls

We've seen the six button pad used for the rings, both goa'uld rings and the Ancient version. I think most of the time they press a sequence of 5? buttons. Any theories on how these controls work?

Also, how do you differentiate between one ship in orbit and another?

    Maybe like the Gate :

4 controls : 3 for positions and 1 for origin

5 controls : 3 for positions + 1 for going from orbit to planet + 1 for origin

or simply like a phone :

each ring as a reference number and you have to know it to lock on the ring.

in most cases, 1 ring station is near, so they just set it to go to the nearest. other possibility is they have adresses

Correction...I just noticed that the ring platform in Merlin's cave had 9 buttons on it, not the six used by the Goa'uld.

I was wondering if anyone had noticed a pattern in the button presses that we've seen SG-1 use time and again.
