            And you know this how?

I would hope TPTB wouldn't be stupid enough to tamper with that much of old canon

According to showrunner Robert C. Cooper, the "series maintains the spirit of Stargate, but opens up a whole new 'universe'." It is currently being developed as "a completely separate, third entity" - as opposed to Stargate Atlantis, which was created as a spin-off from the first series Stargate SG-1.

Their is nothing in that statement that says it will start messing with SG1/SGA canon. If anything it makes it less likely that SGU will even mention the Ori home galaxy

As jelgate pointed out, that likely means that they will be creating a lot of new things and not dealing with old concepts all that much as opposed to vastly changing established canon. Where as Atlantis would deal with things brought up in Sg-1, had characters from Sg-1 appear, and was a natural extension of what was going on in Sg-1 at the time (looking for the Ancient city, finding the Outpost instead, etc.).

I hope SGU is a fresh idea. However it's a given that we may see characters we are acquainted with.

As for the ORI. Yes they are dead. But unless I am mistaken it was mentioned that the Ori have gone to other Galaxies on a Crusade.
Spins and turns, angles and curves, the shape of dreams half remembered. Slip the surly bonds of Earth and touch the face of perfection. A perfect face, a perfect lace, find a perfect world for the end of Kara Thrace.
                        End of line.

Well I think it will be fresh but it may still tie in with SG-1 myths and Atlantis' but in the real world "ori" is a name of a god in Egyptian mytholagy and since I doubt that Mr. Wright and Cooper want to make SGU a sg-1 2.0 it will be firmilar but still diffrent and brining back the Ori would be about as popular as brining back the replacators for season 3 and 4 of Atlantis but since the Ori army still control the constructed fleet they built to invade the Milky way a rouge prior posing as a god could pose a threat in SGU

Sorry mate but putting it in bold doesn't change its meaning. It will be a new show, new characters, new settings, new galaxies, new planets, new ships, new tech but same Stargate canon my friend.

However James Bond no longer likes gadgets and had doesn't shag everything in sight so I guess anything is possible with SGU!! HA!

JM said in his blog there will be no Humans in this new galaxy, therefore no Ancients, no Ori and no Human Ori followers.

They also said that Universe will not be a direct link to SG-1 and SGA. Meaning no or atleast very few crossovers. Of Course the Ori invasion plot would still have happened in the Universe canon, it will likly not be seen or mentioned ever again.
