What do you think, the most foolish and best decisions in SGA writing

Hi guys, I really want like to know, what do you think was a dumb decision in regard to SGA writing.

    My top five would be:
    1) A way to early connection between Earth and Atlantis
    2) Killing of Carson and Weir (too much casting changes)
    3) Recycling to much old SG1 storylines (To much dialog like "I look at an old SG1 mission reports and finding something similar") We are in another galaxy, for good sake, there is so much else to explore)
    4) Bringing in the Replicators
    5) the Retrovirus
and one more thing, every village and forest look the same.

    5 good choices:
    1) Ronon
    2) McKay
    3) Todd
    4) Underwater storys
    5) Puddle Jumpers

    the worst:

    1)Earth
    2)replicators
    3)Ancients being dumbed down
4)Wraith being dumbed down (remember those cool enemies during S1? We barely saw them and when we did, it was very scary. But now, they're joke)
    5)bad writing after 201

    good choices:
    1) no Earth in S1
    2) dark aspect of SGA during S1
    3)Sumner and Everett
4)no ZPM, no cloaking in S1
5)Teyla in S1. She was pretty interesting character with great potential...again wasted

By choices do you mean changes that have been made since the show started or choices they made when developing the show, or both?

I don't think the 'Replicators' as you call them were a mistake. In fact, the Asurans could have been so much more than their MW galaxy predecessors, had they been used in a different manner.

I agree with you that the Asurans could have been "so much more" than the SG-1 Replicators, but the fact is that they weren't, they were never well developed on Atlantis, which is why I consider them a mistake.

Potential is one thing. It's whether an idea lives up to that potential that decides if it's a mistake or not.
Coming soon to Syfy and DVD... hopefully!

                Good

                1. It's Freaking Atlantis. How cool is that.
                2. The early Wraith. Super powerful.
                3. Puddle Jumpers are cool as all hell.
                4. Zero - Zero Point Module (Did u see what I did there)
                5. The original cast.

                Bad

                1. Too early of a connection back to Earth.
                2. The serious downplay of the Wraiths strength.
                3. The Travelers
                4. OMFG Keller completely sucks.
                5. If the Stargates were built by the Ancients, and Atlantis was built by the Ancients, and humans were seeded by the Ancients, and the Wraith were created by the Ancients, and the Replicators were created by the Ancients (Need I go on?) Can we get some freaking Ancients on the show?
You have already taken the first steps towards becoming.....The Fifth Race.

                  The Bad.

                  1. Ruining the Weir character in season 2.
                  2. Making contact with Earth too easy.
                  3. Too many Ancients.
                  4. Bringing back Carson.
                  5. The creation of Larrin.

                  The Good.

                  1. Writing out Weir.
                  2. Writing in Keller and Woolsey.
                  3. More character development.
                  4. More morally ambiguous plot lines.
                  5. Toning down the Wraith.

                    GOOD
                    1. The Original Cast and the S2-S3 Cast.
                    2. Strong recurring characters like Radek, Lorne, Caldwell, Kate, Katie, etc.
                    3. Bringing in Ronon. (Though I like Ford too.)
                    4. Strong premise, international expedition.

                    BAD
                    1. Kicking out Carson and Elizabeth.
                    2. Writing in Carter.
                    3. The Keller character.
                    4. Failure to follow-up / finish Ford's storyline.
                    5. Neglect of Teyla.

                      Bad
                      1. Ruining the isolation element
                      2. Not exploring the city enough - it is Stargate "Atlantis"
                      4. Not enough exploration of the civilian vs. military element
                      5. Not enough 'team' episodes
                      6. Over reliance on the Daedelus
                      7. Lucius

                      Good
                      1. The isolation element (Season 1)
                      2. Making the Wraith a little more complex less cartoon like.
                      3. The darker storylines

                        Bad
                        1.Killing Wier/Carson/Ford
2.Keller (just her character in general)
                        3.Treateing the Asurans like replictors
4.Finding a way to get back and forth from Earth (season 3 or 4 should have done that)
5.One minute Ancient tech is almost impossible to understand, the next minute Rodeny thinks he can complete there work

                        Good
1.Todd (not 100% allie, which is cool)
2.Atlantis designe, i know, not writters, but still very good!
                        3.Mjr Lorne.........(hehe)
(I can only think of three good things.....sorry.....)

                          Good
Killing of Weir, Ford and Original Carlson
                          The travellers
                          Michael and Todd story line
The gene therapy and changing of the Wraith and some of the moral arguments their, well the ideas are good non the least.
The hives and cruise the original versions were brilliant in vessel design.
Bringing in Woolsey and Keller who are fresh and will different from previous character.

                          Bad
Bring back Carlson, it down played his heroics in Sunday and the bravery the writer showed when killing him off.
Disappearance of the Wraith telepathy abilities and well dumbing down the Wraith overall.
No exploration of the freaking city, it the reason why we their and not to fight the Wraith, not to explore Pegasus, but to explore and reverse engineer the city, showing some of that would be good.
They never got a chance to get Woolsey to sing opera, poor use of the actor talent their.

Yes. Can we count regular evey candy as a good decision. Not really writing I know.

                              BAD
Killing off Weir, Ford and Carson and then bringing in a Carson would be the worst decisions they have made.
                              Bringing in Keller.
                              Bringing in Woolsey.
                              Killing off Heightmeyer.
                              Stupid filler episodes.

                              GOOD
The look of the city was a good decision.
