I thought they were going to release it sooner rather than later to placate us old SG-1 one fans because the movies won't be out for a while. I guess we're not even worth pandering to at this point!;)

Seriously?? Why wouldn't they release it that way, considering that's how it originally aired?

StellaByStargate writes: “Is the re-cut of SG-1 CotG still in the works and can we look for that to be released sometime soon? And also…since Brad and Carl seem rather busy with SGU for the time being, how is the SG-1 movie coming along?”

Answer: I believe the CotG is done. No idea when it will be released but I imagine very soon. As for the SG-1 movie - Brad and Carl broke the story together and now Carl is off writing the script. When he last reported in, Carl was about halfway through a first draft.

LOL! I was gonna say JM commented on that, but Jumper beat me to it. Hopefully, it will be relased within the next few months. Between the end of Atlantis and the beginning of SGU would be nice.

Hopefully the sales will tank and TPTB will realize that fans aren't willing to pay for the same stuff twice!

Ahh, but they may have made a lot of changes, and so then, it won't ALL be the same stuff . . .

What changes? I hope they didn't change the lines! As for special effects - who cares? Instead working hard to produce new material, they just wrap the same old **** trying to milk the franchise dry... Just look at the 'special' Sg-a movie double feature...

If you don't like it then blame the people who buy it, they're the reason it's being made.

TPTB assume people are willing to buy it; I hope there's a limit to people stupidity, otherwise instead of the 3rd SG-1 movie we might be treated to 10 seasons + 2 movies boxset instead; and instead of the Atlantis movie we'll be given a 'nice' 5 SGA seasons boxset!

We don't know exactly what is going to be included in this 're-cut'. If its just special effects and scenes removed, I won't buy it. But if there are non vfx scenes added, I totally want whatever is new.

Oh, don't get me wrong I'll probably watch it, burn it on a DVD, but I'm not going to buy it...

from BW's Q&A on Joe's blog

“Tammy writes: “ Would you ever consider taking unused/cutting room floor footage (there is a rumor that there is a large chunk of footage missing where the team deals with Jack going to Washington?) and re-cutting select episodes with the additional scenes? Maybe release a special dvd with select episodes on it?”

BW: That is actually, a very funny, very wrong rumor. If I get RDA in a movie, I don’t cut the scenes. If you’re looking for a re-cut movie, watch Children of the Gods when it comes out.

Chevon7 writes: “1. Children of the Gods - The Brad Wright edition. Ok so everyone’s talked about the removal of the nudity, but what else can we expect? Is it longer, shorter? Will you be souping up the VFX ala George Lucas? Have you talked to Jonathan Glassner about it?”

BW: It’s shorter, and better paced. It’s the one I wish we made the first time. You won’t catch all the little things I did, but it’ll “feel” different. I think I told Jon I was doing it. We don’t speak much.

Penjab writes: “Question for Mr. Wright: Will your new version Children of the Gods be available on regular DVD or will it only be Blu-Ray? All of the comments I have read have mentioned Blu-Ray. Since so many don’t yet own one of those players, myself included, I am hoping it will be released for the regular DVD player also.”

BW: I think the release is intended for both formats.

Huh, I wonder if he was thinking I meant Continuum when I asked that question . . .

it will be on my download list, through if they do it honestly with both versions on the dvd and commentary on why they change what they change and a awful lot of behind the scenes special features, including a film about SGU then I might consider a purchase at around 10 pounds.

True, I hope there is something extra on it and not just the re-cut episode. new commentary and some behind the scenes footage would be nice.

I personally have no intention of buying this. I like CotG the way it is, and have it already in the first place. I would rent it on iTunes if that's possible just to see it, but I'm definitely not buying it.

Indeed. I would like to see multiple commentaries and outtakes if they are still around.

I'd buy it because it doesn't have the nudity.

And shame on you if you download without buying. I download my epies (after I watch on TV) and movies, but I usually buy the movies later

I don't think outtakes are allowed to be released. I think RDA was quoted as saying they ruined the seriousness of the show or something like that.
Maybe one day he'll change his mind, because I'd love to see outtakes!
