This episode took the words right out of my mouth.

When Woolsey came and was in the cell i was thinking "did he bring a subspace beacon so that the daedalus or apollo could pick them up?" and truth be told, col. shepard ask the same question, more or less. And then again when the woman counciler was explaining her greif, afeter that i was saying to my self, Why do they have a judge so biased, it's obivious that she already made up her mind before the trial even began? And then again, woolsey made the same coment.

to add tension to the ep so that you would be worried that one of the other judges would also vote yes and thus the hero's lose.

i think it's safe to say that we all saw them getting not guilty by a mile ahead, b/c who would be in the next episode if they were?

or it could have been a opening for a small story arc

Or the just kill everyone and leave. They are military, and they were hostages.

i don't think the team had it guns and it would have proved atlantis guilty if the team had killed everyone

Only if you want to doom the entire expedition.

Would have been better if Woolsey did have a subspace locator beacon on him and the team was beamed away. Sort of like in SG-1's Full Alert when Daniel and Kinsey were beamed away, and goa'uld Kinsey remarked that beaming them away did more to foster mistrust than Kinsey ever could. That would have been a good start to the events leading to the season finale. The expedition would realize that they really don't want us in Pegasus and set up to take Atlantis all the way to the Milky Way, when the enemy shows up at the gate.

No. Those writers don't do that stuff.

How would that doom the expedition? It's not like Atlantis is dependent on trade. Worst comes to worst, they send the Daedalus to the coalition planets and take away their stargates to stop it from spreading.

Atlantis only knows three of the principle peoples and they seem more widespread than that. Taking the Stargates on the worlds they know about would not get rid of them entirely and only cause more fear and paranoia which would help any remnants to spread more quickly.

Plus, they're just simple people who are afraid and misunderstand the situation. As a result, Atlantis would never deal with them in such a manner as the consequences for doing so would be dire to those worlds what with their dependent on trade and the fact that they'd have zero chance of escaping to another world should the Wraith come along. We also have no idea what the reaction of the Wraith would be to finding that a Human world isn't accessible by a Stargate. It could be anything from relocation, to replacing the Stargate, to wiping them out entirely.

There isn't much food grown on atlantis. We are totally dependent on trade in the pegasus galaxy.

There are plenty of ways to solve that problem. They could grow their own food. They could install some more Asgard tech on Atlantis and just use the beaming technology to synthesize food. They could make the hand device Thor used to open a wormhole to Ida and just use that to open wormholes from earth to Atlantis.
