    A Mistake?

    I know I'm being picky, and I might be wrong as well, but I want to know I've spotted a mistake with the "unforseen side-effects".

    Has it not already been established that stargates use subspace and hyperdrives use hyperspace?

    Exploding stargates seem like an odd side-effect if that is the case.

    Cant remember if anything's been said about this in Stargate, but usually Hyperspace is described as a region of subspace which pretty much makes instabilities in one have reactions in the other.
    Daniel to Thor: Wait, you're actually saying you need someone dumber then you are?
    Jack: You may have come to the right place.

      in the season 3 ep where mckays sister is first brought to atlantis there is a scene where she and rodney are talking to sam and the dead, sam is on video.

      Sam says something about subspace and Jeanie says "so subspace is real?" to which same states "your traveling in it" or something to that effect anyway lol!

        Were we watching the same episode?

        McKay: "...A hyperdrive allows you to travel great distances by entering and exiting subspace."

            I think the poster meant they were talking to sam on the Daedalus via a video feed

              Subspace = Hyperspace

                  Hyperspace and subspace aren't the same thing... they're the same thing in essence, but they are two completely different dimensions..... that's why they have different names.

                    Ketchup/Catsup they're the same many things have more than one name for them. They even said it on the previous post, in the episode "McKay and Mrs. Miller" where they are in hyperspace and mckay's sister said something like "how do you know subspace exists?" and same replied "You're in it".

                      "Hyperspace" is probably a specific "layer" of subspace that the ships travel through.

                      That would explain why subspace communications don't work during hyperspace travel.

                      I say it doesn't work because on more than one occasion the Odyssey received subspace communications as soon as they dropped to normal space but they didn't receive them while in transit.

                      If this is the case then you can always use logic: All hyperspace is subspace but not all subspace is hyperspace.
