Will they be cut off?

I was wondering how the Stargate will be used in this new series. From what I read, the central team of this series will gate to a ship, the Destiny, (making use of the ninth chevron) and they will basically be going along for the ride because the ship is all ready on a preprogramed course to new worlds and galaxies. Some early stuff I read said there were two ships sent out by the Anicents. One is placing Stargates on worlds and the second following behind supposedly with people to explore these worlds. However, the Ancients assended and never got around to boarding Destiny.

Here is what I am wondering...is the team going to be completely cut off from Earth or will Earth be able to dial in and communicate with them, keep apprised of their situation and send supplies, weapons, ammo and so on?

I know that if Earth dials in no one would be able to return that way because the wormholes are one way from the point of origin.

Just a thought. I was wondering what other people thought.

Most people seem to think they will be cut off but who knows. It would be interesting if earth could only dial them once so often.

I would love to see them completely cut off and with limited supplies. With Voyager, the ship never had problems replacing or acquiring what was needed. Universe will be great if there are times the team has to do without or MacGyver something low tech to get out of a jam.

After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's ninth chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by The Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion, but never completed.

What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never ending mission, as the Stargate Universe crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, and they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny.

The crew will travel to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, thus fulfilling the Destiny's original mission. Challenges will arise though as the ship comes into range of Stargates placed centuries ahead of the Destiny and the crew is unable to control the ship's navigational schedule. If someone is left behind, there is no way to go back for them, adding to the drama of encountering new races, enemies and adventures.

"unable to RETURN to earth" I find that part interesting. Is it already somewhere on earth hiding?
