STARGATE: OMEGA
The year is 2129, more than a century since the Great War which destroyed the old, archaic System Lords, the rulers of the Milky Way Galaxy for ten-thousand years. In that time, new civilizations have risen up and prospered, with only occasional strife interrupting this unparalleled golden age. For what seems like an eternity, peace is the only constant for the galactic society, unbroken and undisturbed.
But that is changing; a terrorist attack on Earth leaves tens of thousands dead, and stuns the entire galaxy. The old races that stood against the Goa'uld attempt to rise to the challenge, but there is something hauntingly familiar about the dissent and devastation being sown throughout known space. After a hundred years of endless peace, the galaxy is stagnant and weak. The Jaffa Nation is corrupt, the Tau'ri are indifferent, and no other power possesses the might to face whatever darkness threatens to choke out the light forever.
New species shall rise to find their place amongst the stars, and old powers lurking in the depths of space will return. The serenity that once defined reality is faltering, and all life hangs in the balance.
The end has begun.

For those of you that don't know me, I'm s09119, a fanfiction writer that has had a few projects based out of GateWorld over the years. My most beloved project, an attempt at redefining the idea of an extragalactic expedition, "Stargate: Avalon," was never finished due to my dedicated co-writer leaving for Iraq, and my latest project, a continuation of Stargate: SG-1, is nearing it's penultimate season. With that said, I'm running out of things to keep myself busy!
And so for the past month, I've been planning out what I deem a "pseudo-series" of Stargate; it will have episodes like any other show, and they will be written and posted for others to see, but they will not come out on any regular basis. This project will commence when I have the time for it and will continue as I can continue it. I call this series Stargate: Omega, the name coming from the Greek symbol which can mean "date of death," here marking the death of the old galactic order of human hegemony. Almost no previous characters will be making appearances, as, by this time, most will be dead, with new persons rising to fill their places.
Also, the galaxy is far different from the one last seen in SG-1 Season 10; Earth is an old and stagnant power, the Free Jaffa Nation is a massive, corrupt, and bloated body that dominates galactic affairs by sheer force of numbers alone, the Tok'ra have largely disappeared, and extragalactic allies such as the former followers of the Ori have grown indifferent, as well. The Atlantis Expedition was disbanded several years ago following the final defeat of the Wraith, and Earth no longer maintains military operations there. It would seem that the universe has found peace, though we know that is never true for long.
What makes Omega, in my mind, any different from another fanfiction? The primary villains will come from within, and will largely be caused by our own arrogance and neglect. Just as history repeats itself, so surely will the "Great Races" be the cause of their own destruction. Earth will be seen, but not as the point of narration; rather, the story will be told from numerous worlds and numerous characters. And the primary "team"? Well, you'll have to wait and see!
I don't know if this will even get off the ground popularly, but I plan on writing to amuse myself anyway, and I hope everyone else can get entertained along the way. Thanks for reading, and sit tight for the premiere!
