    Free jaffa

We all know that in the first Stargate movie childrens were raised near Ra in order the become his new jaffa. Later in the SG-1 series we find that Teal'c and Bra'tac fight and finally succeed to creat a free jaffa nation, jaffa that no longer serve false gods. Till now all seems to be fine, but if we remember well, in the first Stargate movie the reason that Ra and other gou'uld lords raised jaffa since they were small childrens and later giving them those wolf or falcon armours (the gou'uld had also a mask) was for impressing medieval peoples, and with their superior technology make them believe that they were gods, so they could enslave them. What is wrong you'll ask, well the idea of the first movie is that jaffa knew the truth about gou'uld, idea sustained by the Stargate movie scene in which Daniel and Jack are captured by Ra guards and bringed in front of him, were both Ra and his guards open their mask to reveal their "human" perspective.

What do you think about this?

The Series is based upon the movie. It is not a sequel to the movie.

A lot was changed in the series compared to the movie. For instance, in the movie, we see Ra in his true form before the bomb explodes; non-corporeal (without body) while in the series the Goa'uld are snake like creatures.

The Jaffa know that their god looks human, but he's still not like them since his eyes glow and he has a strange voice. he also carries tech that the jaffa never get to have. (hand devices, personal shields, and so on).
many jaffa do know that their god is just a creature with technology (Teal'c knew it and that's why he turned against his god when he knew he had a chance to win). the problem is they're still scared of the Goauld and obey his commands, just like in a dictatorship. also the Goauld made the Jaffa dependent on their Larva to ensure their loyalty. if the Jaffa kill the Goauld they would die themselves without their larvas.

Ra was the only system lord who hid his face and the face of his guards from normal humans. no other goauld in the series did that. I guess they thought glowing eyes and scary voice is enough.

I thought Ra was just a Paedophile...

Those weren't Jaffa in the movie, not in the movie canon nor the series one.
