How did Jack know Mitchells name?

Jack asked "Which one of you is Mitchell" during the search and rescue on the ice. Jack also didn't know Daniel Jackson was rescued and being treated on the submarine so how is it he knew Mitchells name? Aside from the fact that Gneral Landry said that there was no record of a Cameron Mitchell anywhere.

Mitchell kept calling for help on his radio. It's doubtful that Ba'al's interference with the timeline would have affected the military band on the radios.
