    surviving f-15 in stargate continuum

how many the four f-15s survived after they are intercepted by death glider?
It was not clear because i just have seen only two f-15s after the migs destroyed the death gliders.

I thought it was implied that Carter was sending the F-15s on a suicide mission to buy SG-1 some time to flee. Even though the F-15s could hold their own against the gliders in the lower atmosphere, they were greatly outnumbered.

The F-15's probably survived against the gliders, or not, but the timeline was reset anyway.. In any case, Earth was destroyed so it wouldn't have mattered either way.

Yeah f-22's are pretty much in there own class. But SG1 were most likely trained more to fly f-14's and not f-22's also with the internal bay I don't think f-22's can hold as much fuel.

1 more question Carter, Cam and Daniel that means one of the planes that survived would of had an extra pilot in it, were did he go I would've assumed he would go with SG1 when they left the planes for the gate.

Also aren't they single seaters, Daniel wouldn't be able to fly one.
if it wasnt for Carters new plot shield we would be dead

                  according to wikipedia:

F-15 -> Ferry range: 3,450 mi (3,000 nmi, 5,550 km) with external conformal fuel tanks
                  F-22 -> Ferry range: 2,000 mi (1,738 nmi, 3,219 km)

I guess only Sam's plane was a single seater

The Eagle's initial versions were designated F-15A for the single-seat configuration and F-15B (originally TF-15A, but this designation was quickly deprecated, as the F-15B is fully combat-capable) for the twin-seat.

F-22's would have been owned as well, the gliders were traveling at Mach 3.5 and are a hell of a lot more maneuverable.

                        I doubt gliders use radar.

maybe the air force didnt want actors flying one of their lastest aircrafts

Actually the best plane for the job was F-15
No other American fighter has its range.. and they where supposed to go from US airspace to the South pole...

The fighters as they said was even lightly armored (Lowering the weight and Maximizing the range)

Any other.. F-16, F/A-18, F-22 and F-35 all have shorter Range.. (some even less then half)

the MiG's that meet them also have a shorter range

Also.. F-15 is the fastest Fighter currently in use
