Does Colonel Abe Ellis Die?

I was wondering is Colonel Abe Ellis dies in the episode "The Lost Tribe" or "First Contact" when Todd takes over the battlecruiser like Colonel Paul Emerson (Matthew Glave) died in the SG-1 episode "The Company Of Theives" after it was taken over. Personally i hope not because we then have to find another Col. to command a battle crusier like Stargate still has not found a replacement to command the Odyssey.
