    New Spoilers on Caprica series!

This is an exclusive preview of Caprica provided by Kristin at E!:
    Spoiler:

Caprica is the story of two families, the Graystones and the Adams (better known to us now as the Adamas)...The Graystones include father Daniel, a computer genius; mother Amanda, a brilliant surgeon and unfaithful wife; and their daughter, Zoe, who is martyred to her boyfriend's religious fanaticism—but not before she installs the rudimentary elements of her personality and DNA into a machine, creating a digital twin of herself, Zoe-A.

After the human Zoe's death, Daniel uses these raw materials, some stolen technology and his own grief to cobble together "a robotic version of his dead daughter." This robot version, known as Zoe-R, is a Cylonic Eve, the first of her kind. (Dun-dun-dun!)

And in this corner, ladies and gentlemen, meet Grandpapadama! As Adm. Bill Adama once told us, his father, Joseph, was a great attorney of his day, fighting for the civil rights of the Twelve Colonies' downtrodden and marginalized. But that's not his whole story: Joseph Adama's wife and daughter were also killed in that same suicide bombing that took Zoe Graystone's life.

The two fathers, Daniel Graystone and Joseph Adama, work together on replicating their children in cyborg form, but "Joseph is ethically appalled by the robot version of his dead [daughter], Tamara, and repents his actions." Those Adamas are all hardass conscience, aren't they?

Still, the one happy result of the Adama family tragedy is that Joseph and his young son, the 9-year-old Bill, grow closer to each other, and Joseph begins to explain their family's story to his sad, somber child. But will their bond prepare them for the havoc soon to be wreaked by the rise of the Cylon nation?

Now that we got the confirmed greenlight for the Battlestar Galactica spin-off series, Caprica, of course we can expect to see more details of the series trickle in. Just today, for example, sources have provided us with casting information for the series. Cool stuff!

Anyone familiar with the details of the show knows that Caprica will center around two families, the Graystones and the Adamas, and the goings on leading up to the Cylons as we see them on the show now. Now we can get a sense of what the characters on the show will look like and perhaps make our own wishlist of who we'd like to see in the roles. I warn you that there are what to some will consider SPOILERS ahead.

.. This doesn't bother anyone in the least?

Posted by Kristin Dos Santos on Tue, Apr 1, 2008
I asked RDM if there might be any Thrace-Adama-Agathon-Roslin ancestors in Caprica, and he told me, "Right now, there are no ancestors of anybody in the pilot." Well, looks like that changed in the intervening time, and thank goodness!
Um they just up and changed the entire plot of the whole thing after it was approved? No.. I believe this is a giant farce. This new plot sounds like complete and utter crap, and thus is clearly a joke.. if not.. I'm sadly disappointed. And now we know where cylons came from? Lame.

Edit: This seriously cannot be the plot. The human cylons somehow have the knowledge of where the tomb of athena is located, how to get there, and other knowledge the humans don't posess, when they were created from some scientist trying to recreate his dead daughter? Ok? Seriously this is all one big joke. It was posted on april fools. Lost got TONS of similar "spoilers" like this.

A lot of people immediatley noticed it was posted on April 1st. But the casting call info was posted April 3rd and the other info has not been retracted or admitted as a joke.

As much as I would prefer that it be an April Fools joke it doesn't seem to be.

news This story contains MODERATE SPOILERS for the upcoming "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff telemovie "Caprica."

                Spoiler:
While it's great to see some solid characters coming from the new SciFi Channel backdoor pilot "Caprica," the biggest question coming from a leaked casting call sheet for the production seems to bring up the question: Is the Adama family name really "Adama," or is it "Adams"? Or is it both?

TV Squad has gotten a hold of what appears to be a casting call sheet for "Caprica," which is a way for the network to gather some talent from agents interested in working on what could end up being a full-blown series to replace ScIFi Channel.

According to the casting call sheets, the major characters include (as previously known) Joseph Adama, the father of Adm. William Adama, and Daniel Graystone, the creator of the Cylons. Except that, at least according to the casting sheet, his name isn't Joseph Adama, it's Joseph Adams.

i think it's pretty obvious that Adama changed his name to Adams to better fit into Caprican society...

just been thinking if adama's sister tamara and zoe are supposed to be the first generation of cylons created im assuming that they will look human is it at all possible that william/bill adama also died with his mother and sister and was recreated too? If so then Adama could be the last model as as such different in the respect that he was born human but then rectreated after a tragic death

if his casting name is Adam but we know he later has the name Adama and his sister and the other little girl remade are going to be Tamara-a and Zoe-a then perhaps Adam-a = Adama

this also might fit in with col tigh being a cylon he was friends with adama perhaps he too had an accident and was remade into a cylon.

Is this what they mean by the fact that yes they are cylons but are different from what we know and s4 will change to way we look at cylons because they was infact once human

                      ooooo... interesting...
I don't think Adama is the 5th, but I like the twisted theory.
Also, agreeing with the other post that Joseph changed his name to Adams to better fit in with Caprica society. Something to that effect was in one of the articles. He later told his son what their real name was.
                      Although,
                      Spoiler:
didn't Lampkin have a book by Joseph Adama (not Adams) --- so when did he change his name back?

not sure if that belongs in spoilers or not -- s3 is recent for me since I don't have cable and it took so frakkin' long for the DVD to be released... thank the GODS that scifi.com is posting episodes now.

Anyway, if Caprica is anything like BSG, all our speculation will be for naught (as fun as it is to speculate) as they'll likely go off in a direction entirely bizarre and unexpected. At least I hope so.

                        Spoiler:
[JOSEPH ADAMS] In his 40s, he is a Tauron, an off-worlder who has emigrated to Caprica; his hair is already starting to go iron-grey and his entire demeanor is that of someone who's already put on more miles than most men his age. There's a gravitas to Joseph, an intelligence, and a strong sense of someone you wouldn't want as your enemy. He has risen above the traditional Caprican prejudice against Taurons, and has become a powerful, influential defense attorney, with powerful ties to the Tauron crime underworld. His wife and daughter are killed in the same blast that takes out Zoe, and he bonds with the much-wealthier Daniel in a common grief. A man who has done a few crooked things in his life (largely in order to use his position to protect his fellow Taurons), Joseph reluctantly agrees to assist Daniel in his grief-fueled efforts to create robotic versions of both their children -- but after stealing vital technology from a Tauron computer developer, Joseph is ethically appalled by the robot version of his dead Tamara, and repents his actions. Left with a 9 year old son to care for, Joseph reaches out to young William, revealing to him that his last name is really Adama...SERIES REGULAR - SUBMIT ALL ETHNICITIES. HOWEVER, PREFER LATINO.

from the casting call. his name changing is simply to better fit in with the capricans. it's exactly the same as people changing their names when they come to the US, not a secret spy mission of doom

ya know, after all of my time on the internet, i will never understand the use of spoiler tags within a spoiler thread.

Paula Malcolmson (Trixie on “Deadwood” and Jerri on “John From Cincinnati”) will play the mother of Zoe Graystone, whose likeness and personality are utilized to create the first Cylon in the SciFi TV-movie “Caprica,” a pilot prequel set 50 years before the events depicted in “Battlestar Galactica.”

Malcolmson plays Amanda Greystone (not to be confused with Amanda Greyson, who was Spock’s mom), a surgeon who goes to extraordinary lengths to help her husband revive her dead 16-year-old daughter via robotics.

and i think that's the real reason for using the name "Adams" instead of "Adama".

If it turns out to be a successful little tv movie/pilot, they can retcon the name back.

If it turns out to have the same wonderful quality BSG has since Exodus then it isn't tied so close to BSG that they can't disown it. (see Galacitca 1980 for motivations on disowning an associated series)
That human piece of incompetent garbage currently holding the office of President of the USA is not in any way my president, I can't support a born failure. Same reason i was against the last nitwit.
