Exclusive: Stargate’s Christopher Judge Talks About The Ark of Truth

“It’s Stargate on steroids.”

That’s how Christopher Judge, who plays the muscle-bound warrior Teal’c on the long-running series Stargate SG-1, describes the new direct-to-DVD film The Ark of Truth.

The steroids bit comes from the fact that since the production company wasn’t limited with a single-episode budget, and they could make a bigger film. “I just didn’t think it could be done,” Judge admitted. “I thought it was ludicrous, and I made sure that that was known.”

Stargate: The Ark of Truth hits shelves on DVD tomorrow, March 11th.

"That was really fun. That was a fun episode to shoot too. We shot in this big tank out at the University Of British Columbia. This big wave pool and we were able to sink the set. We had all of these divers in the pool with us."

On The Stargate Movies

"Hopefully Ark Of Truth will be the first of a long line of stand alone movies. There's no really a prior (laughs) storyline that they will tie into. When I saw the script for Continuum, You know Brad Wright and Robert Cooper are fabulous. When you do something for so long, you get to know their writing. You get to appreciate what they do. These movie scripts, I don't know where they came from. Sometimes when you read a script, The formula of TV is basically if you have a twenty two episode season, you need four great episodes a year, then you have a hit series. The rest are pattern episodes that you need to come in either at budget, under budget. So when I saw these movies, they were just so out of the box. They were just so different. they felt different and they felt new. After ten years of writing this show where does this come from ? Aren't you out of ideas ? Brad and Cop have been planning movies since season five."
