Deep Space Nine Actress Nicole de Boer to Guest Star in Stargate Atlantis

According to Gateworld, actress Nicole de Boer, who played the role of Ensign Ezri Dax in the final season of Star Trek Deep Space Nine, has been cast in an upcoming episode of Stargate Atlantis, executive producer Joseph Mallozzi revealed at his blog.

de Boer will play Dr. Alison Porter in "Whispers" expected to air as the seventh episode of Season Five.

Atlantis Will Have New Sets

SCI FI Wire got a peek at new sets for SCI FI Channel's original
series Stargate Atlantis in Vancouver, Canada, and gleaned a few
details of the ships that will appear in the show's upcoming fifth season.

On May 15, a group of reporters toured the main Atlantis sets, an
"alien village" set where filming was underway and two new ship sets
at Bridge Studios. One ship, still under construction, was described
as a "Traveller ship." It was a small set, very dark and
claustrophobic. The interior bulkheads were flat black and studded
with all varieties of mechanical junk. Bundles of cable hung everywhere.

The second, however, was a standing set, meaning viewers can expect to
see it repeatedly. This set appears to be a new model of Wraith Hive
Ship, including a distinctly insectile throne for the Wraith Queen.
It's considerably larger than the Traveller ship set and more
elaborate than earlier Wraith ships.

Stargate Atlantis' 20-episode season fifth season will include the
series' benchmark 100th episode.

Atlantis Will Have New Sets

SCI FI Wire got a peek at new sets for SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate Atlantis in Vancouver, Canada, and gleaned a few details of the ships that will appear in the show's upcoming fifth season.

On May 15, a group of reporters toured the main Atlantis sets, an "alien village" set where filming was underway and two new ship sets at Bridge Studios. One ship, still under construction, was described as a "Traveller ship." It was a small set, very dark and claustrophobic. The interior bulkheads were flat black and studded with all varieties of mechanical junk. Bundles of cable hung everywhere.

The set suggested a cramped, deteriorating ship that would be uncomfortable to fly, if not downright dangerous. This ship is a "swing" set meant to be used once in an upcoming episode and then broken down.

The second, however, was a standing set, meaning viewers can expect to see it repeatedly. This set appears to be a new model of Wraith Hive Ship, including a distinctly insectile throne for the Wraith Queen. It's considerably larger than the Traveller ship set and more elaborate than earlier Wraith ships

Atlantis Cast Changes Coming

The upcoming fifth season of SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate Atlantis will see the addition of a new regular cast member, the promotion of another and the departure of yet another, producers told SCI FI Wire last week during a visit to the show's Vancouver, Canada, production offices.

One of the biggest changes is the addition of Robert Picardo as a regular cast regular in the role of Richard Woolsey, who takes over as the new commander of the Atlantis expedition. Picardo replaces Amanda Tapping (Col. Samantha Carter), who had to bow out of the new season as a regular cast member to devote time to her forthcoming SCI FI series Sanctuary.

'Stargate Atlantis' Dresses Up For Season Five

New episodes will include a new Wraith and a new look for some Atlantis team members

Members of the press were introduced to some of the costumes that will grace Season Five of the SCI FI Channel series Stargate Atlantis at a recent set visit in Vancouver attended by CinemaSpy. During the visit, costume designer Val Halverson revealed some highlights that Stargate fans can look forward to in the new season. One of the costumes that she presented was a full-length leather jacket-and-robe combination. Black in colour and regal in design, it will be worn by what sounds like a particularly unpleasant variation on a recurring menace, the life-sucking Wraith.

"One of our new Wraith that we introduce are called Wraith Hunters," said Halverson. "They've been established hunting Ronon the first time we met him. This is the new look we did for them and they are real, real nasty guys, as Wraith are. We really like the new look. A little bit different. Obviously the Wraith are very distinctive, but we added a little depth."

Atlantis Focuses On Wraith

The upcoming fifth season of SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate Atlantis will focus heavily on the Wraith--with a side trip to Las Vegas to commemorate the show's 100th episode, producers told SCI FI Wire during a visit to the show's sets in Vancouver, Canada, on May 16.

Other key developments: Teyla (Rachel Luttrell) will have her baby in the fifth season. The character became pregnant last season to accomodate Luttrell's real-life pregnancy. Luttrell has given birth, so her character can follow suit...

SPOILERS AHOY!

Not everything is about the Wraith though. Flanigan said it's his understanding that filming for the show's upcoming 100th episode will take place in Las Vegas. Though Flanigan claimed to have no more details than that, he surmised that this would probably mean the episode will have to do with the replicators.

Six episodes of Stargate Atlantis' new season are complete and filming of new episodes continues. The fifth season kicks off in July.
