Eight chevron dialing

i have a question about the dialing of 8 symbol addresses.
if the 7th chevron determines the galaxy it is dialing then why isnt the pegasus
symbol the 7th symbol.
the 7th symbol in the series is the "sculptor" symbol which should be the milky way symbol.
but thats just my opinion.

well why is the 7th symbol for atlantis the milky way glyph.
shouldnt it be the pegasus glyph instead.

If I remember right from Rising, the 7th symbol to Atlantis from the Milky Way was indeed the constellation Pegasus. There is no "Milky Way glyph" on either stargate. In Atlantis I'd imagine that the 7th symbol for earth is the constellation the milky way galaxy happens to be in.

tbh never paid that much attention to the symbol sequence, but if pegasus was the first one, then it would make sense in that it was like dialing a long distance number. you dial the area code first, then the prefix, and then the rest.
