View Full Version : Uniforms/Chuck

I would like to preface this with the statement that it is mostly Speculation

Correct me if I am wrong but in TMC, wasn't there an exchange between Rodney...and Rodney...about being issued new uniforms.

Also, I have assumed that the color's correspond to the wearer's department Thusly:

Red: Administrative
Yellow: Medical
Blue: Science
Black: Military

Now, Given all of the above, How Did chuck end up in this:

http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l28/venom0/Chuck.jpg

First of all, It's one of the older uniforms, Which I'm willing to accept, seeing as they could not have all gotten the uniforms yet, and that there are others in the scene wearing them: http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l28/venom0/3.jpg
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l28/venom0/2.jpg

But what i cannot figure out is why he is wearing the military colors. If he was military wouldn't he be given a rank(Sergeant most likely...), But seeing as he is just referred to as "Chuck" one could assume that he is not military. Also, seeing this point, should he not be given a Red uniform, as he is mainly just administrative, or even Blue, would be within the acceptable parameters. I do not see why he would be given and OLD MILITARY uniform...

any thoughts?

It means... CHUCK IS GOING TO START GOING ON MISSIONS.

No, I am pretty sure that he usually does have a red uniform, in fact I am sure of it. I think that this was just an error.

Don't Chuck and the other techies usually wear jackets with Green panels?

But if that we're the case, Carter and Sheppard for sure would use his rank.

Not in any of the caps I've found

In fact, here is one he autographed in a black uniform.

Hammond calls O'neil "Jack" because that is what officers do. They refer to each other by their first names. Why? Because they feel they can.

Yeah, I General referring to a Colonel by his first name is totally different than a Colonel speaking to a Sgt or or another enlisted type person because Generals and Colonels are people who have been in the service for a very long time and they are the top of the Chain of Command. I think even when Sam was a Major, Hammond always called her Major Carter or Major so, yeah.

Also does any one remember seeing green panels or am I just going crazy?

I remember fans calling him "Sgt. Canada" before his name was officially Chuck.

And I think I remember the green panels.

Edit: He wore green in Season 2 too.

Yeah, he is. I think it was only back in one of his first episodes, that Weir called him "Sergeant". She definitely did, 'cos I remember watching it in rerun and thinking "He's a sergeant?!" :D

Chuck's uniform panels have always been green, and as I didn't see 'Midway' I can't be sure, but maybe there they were green too? At least, when I look at the photo Tupopoflungo has posted I see a greenish quality in the panels, so maybe they're just dark green?

And about the new/old uniforms, along all this season 4 we've seen a lot of episodes with people wearing the old ones. In fact, I can't remember seeing the new ones to other people apart of Carter, McKay, Keller and Zelenka, something that makes me wonder if maybe the new uniforms are only for the Heads of Department.

Green Panels = Gate Techs

If you look at the picture, it's obviously green. It's just the lighting makes it look blackish.

And it makes sense that he's a Sgt. As we've seen on SG-1, all the technicians are military. That leads me to believe that black doesn't mean Military, it just means Security.

The real problem with Chuck in this scene isn't the color of his uniform, but how much he is moving around. One second he is behind Sheppard, then he is next to him, on screen right, on screen left, etc. That guy can really jump around a lot! ;)

You are in fact correct, he was wearing green. even in my cap you can kind of see green when you stare at it a while.

I apologize.

And I KNOW he wore red.

Indeed, Though, I have also seen images of him in blue, In "Hide And Seek" he is seen in the blue undershirt

He can break the space part of the Space/Time Continuum, He is actually also on "Heroes" using this ability

Not to throw this too far off topic but real quick:

This is an incorrect statement. It is impossible to break "Just the space part". They are all dimensions. Space/Time refers to the three dimensional space at a fourth dimension of time. So teleporting is breaking both space and time.

Okay, back on topic. I remember the blue shirt, I just know that he was in red.

By this comment I implied that he was not teleporting through time.

You forgot green: technicians (I've seen a few of those)

So since Chuck is a the gate technician and apparently he's military he can wear them both.

Also I think someone mentioned he should wear red, but the only people I've noticed wearing red were expedition leaders (Weir and Carter), with the occasional appearance on Teyla. But I might be wrong on this.

Well, technically, Grodin was a scientist. He was an expert on Drone technology. He was more of Weir's assistant than anything else. And Chuck was always in the Gateroom since the expedition got there.

I guess I should've said just Technician rather than gate tech.

And I KNOW he wore red.

Blue, watch Season 1 again.

Yup, first episode was The Brotherhood. He was arguing with Zelenka about food and drinks around the equipment.

Perhaps poor Chuckie is colour blind and doesn't know what colour uniform he is wearing. He may have picked up somebody elses uniform by accident and no-one dare tell him in case they hurt his feelings. :)
