there are 2 songs on the mini series soundtrack that i know off which use lyrics so if the song was composed by Richard Gibbs specifically for the mini series (which i think all the music was) then it may either be Are You Alive? (Battlestar Galactica Main Title) or To Kiss Or Not To Kiss.

it may have been To Kiss Or Not To Kiss since it appeared when Boomer and the engineer started kissing
