Cloning the Sci-fi Classics

It's no secret sci-fi provides a deep well for storytelling. Just look at all the sequels, prequels and remakes that have been cropping up recently (there are at least 10 movies coming out this year that fit in those categories, not counting films that are the first in a series).
With detailed back-stories and adventures yet to be told, it's no surprise that many of the genre's films find new life on television. But for every Stargate: SG-1 there's a Blade: The Series. Cloning the Classics is a look at some of the movies that have made the leap from the big to the little screen with varying success.

'Stargate: Atlantis' (2004)
A clone of a clone so to speak, "Atlantis" comes to be after the original "Stargate: SG-1" team discovers the location of the eponymous lost city. With only enough power for a one-way trip, Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson pass the torch to a new set of adventurers who must stop a life-force devoring race called The Wraith while exploring a new galaxy and unlocking the secrets of the Ancients.
