Hey there,
does anybody know if there will be a soundtrack cd release for the AOT motion picture? The music seems to be modelled after david arnold's 1995's stargate soundtrack, right?
Thanks and cheers

the opening music was ripped straight from the stargate music from the '95 movie, just the 'Goa'uld/Jaffa theme' part to it was replaced with the 'Ori Theme'. Thought it didn't sound that good tbh. Dunno about a soundtrack either - the Atlantis soundtrack that was released was kinda lame.

Where did you hear the music?

I'm sure there will be a soundtrack. I buy a lot of movie soundtracks (+ SG-1 and Atlantis) so I hope there is.

Yeah I have to admit the Ark Of Truth soundtrack was fantastic, sounded like a classic motion picture soundtrack, I would easily consider buying it.

didn't it? it was quite fantastic though!!! Really great music.

The music was made by Joel Goldsmith. ;)

I hope they will release an Ori soundtrack, which contains Season 9-10-AoT themes.

The second could be an "SG-1" soundtrack, which contains Season 4-8 + Continuum melodies. :)

Or they should release one for every season, because JG is so talented, that he wrote so many good song. :D

Ummmmm has anyone ever verified that the music in the bootleg version of AoT is what will be in the actual release?

Heck - they used FX placeholders in a number of places, is there any realistic expectation that they didn't just use a placeholder for the music too?

It's unlikely to get a mix of music from SG-1 and the movies. Assuming they made more soundtracks, I'd expect SG-1 soundtracks plus one soundtrack for each movie.

That's the most likely scenario, best-of-season-# scores.

Personally when I heard it, some of th sound track sounded alright/good it fitted the file perfectly but some of it just did not. I think that the music was probably final but it probably be edited quite a bit for the final release, it just sounded like rough incomplete draft to me in place, but that may just be me.

It wasn't ripped straight from the first movie. I mean, it's pretty much the same, but a few tiny little cues were slightly, and I mean slightly different.

The banner at the top of the side doesn't that remind you of a prior. It says coming 2008. Furthermore he mentions on his forums that big news regarding CD releases are coming for 2008.:)

It's the first thing that striked me, in the begining of AoT preview video. The amazing similarity with David Arnold's opening theme of the original Stargate movie. The dramatic part at the end was clearly different though (less "Egyptian"... more "Ori")

There is another moment in Ark of Truth's soundtrack that reminded me of something.. at the moment when they arrive with the Odyssey in front of the supergate, (at about the 27th min), the pompous music sounded a bit like the old Galactica theme.. or is it just me? Then, when they're about to go through the gate, the classic Stargate theme takes on, and, (it's not about music, but...) I like the profile view of the event horizon, a bit like when Daniel first went through the gate in the original movie..

That music was Cameron's theme. It hasn't been heard since the first episode of season nine, right at the beginning when he's in front of the gate, touching it and remembering his 302 crash.

If it is going to have melody from Avalon, Beachhead, Camelot, Flesh and Bone, Pegasus Project, 200, Quest or Unending to name a few or only the AoT movie, than it will be a wonderful soundtrack. They should have released an OST for every season earlier, because Mr Goldsmith is really good. :o

original music by Joel Goldsmith.

In THE ARK OF TRUTH, SG-1 searches for an ancient weapon which could

International Oversight committee has their own plans and SG-1 finds
themselves in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies.

Recorded live with the Seattle Northwest Sinfonia, this CD underscores
the conclusion of SG-1's struggle with the Ori, as well as its ongoing
battle with the Replicators. Along with this epic score is a 16-page

That wasn't what I was groaning at. I'm glad you like that music.

If you check back further on the thread you'll see what I was groaning at. But to save you doing that I'll tell you anyway...you said something about the soundtrack featuring score music from Seasons 9 and 10. Somebody then responded to that wondering what it was that gave you the idea that the soundtrack would have music from S9 and S10 to which you responded "the Ori theme" to which I responded with a *groan* as in "of course the soundtracks going to have music from S9 and S10 because the Ori are the main villains of those two seasons and of this movie so of course Stargate: The Ark of Truth is going to include their theme from those seasons".

That music was Cameron's theme. It hasn't been heard since the first episode of season nine, right at the beginning when he's in front of the gate, touching it and remembering his 302 crash.

This is a late response, but I've only recently re-watched seasons 9 and 10 so... :)

Anyway, Mitchell's theme actually does appear a couple more times throughout season 9. Off the top of my head, it plays when he defeats the knight in 'Avalon Part 2', there's a subtle somber version played in 'Collateral Damage' during his flashback as he's talking to the officer after having bombed the refugees, and at least one more time in an episode late in the season (I forget which one).

According to Goldsmith's website, the soundtrack isn't going to be offered in stores, and as far as I know, it's only going to be offered through his website, though I could be wrong about that. I just checked amazon.com to see if it was there and couldn't find it. I've already pre-ordered a copy, though, so like PG15, it's just waiting for the good old post man to arrive. :) Or FedEx ... or UPS ... or man on a horse ..

Yes, they ship internationally, but no, you won't get a signed copy. Judging by a banner I saw on the main page before I ordered, they've already surpassed 100 because they were congratulating the winners.

Wow, oh, wow...what gorgeous music.

I just got a text message from my house saying mine arrived in the mail. Hoping mine is autographed, I ordered it in the time-frame.

A few weeks ago I went to the website and it said the first 200 (or was it 100) were sold, but if you ordered before 12:00 a.m. pst you would get a signed copy. So I ordered mine an hour before time was up.

Hmmm...I still haven't gotten my copy yet.

I guess it takes longer, since I'm in Canada?

Well, I finally got mine.

In terms of just...every track being a winner, Ark of Truth is my favorite movie soundtrack of all time. Better than Lord of the Rings. Seriously, every single track has something in it that makes it awesome, along with those few tracks where everything is awesome.

I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

Oh my god, pretty promising for a score to a direct-to-video movie.

Still haven't received mine yet, though. Grrr.

Quite an excellent soundtrack. It shows the incredible skill of Joel Goldsmith.

Order it online, they'll ship to Europe. I got mine from Buysoundtrax.com (http://buysoundtrax.com/)

Of course, if you've got a sense of decency you'll pay for your damn music.
