December 17th, 2007, 04:10 AM
now that BSG is finished and bionic women pretty much dead would anyone want to see her in season 5 of SGA??

it would be refreshing to see a familiar strong female character for a episode or more.

any thoughts :)

I really do not want her in Atlantis. I just don't.

Bring her on... Though, on the other hand, no... cause female characters are bound to end like wallpaper.

wouldn't that be yet another case of stunt casting.

What can we do to boost the ratings? I know! Bring in Amanda Tapping from SG1!

Oh, wait, it didn't work.

I know! Bring in Jewel Staite from Firefly.

Oh. Didn't work either.

I know! Bring in Katee Sackhoff from BSG!

Now who do we need to sack to do that? :S

I have no problem if she'd make a guest appearance

Trek_Girl42
December 17th, 2007, 11:58 AM
That would be absolutely awesome. But it'll never happen, she's developed way too much of a following and a reputation as an actress over the last couple of years, she'll be getting a lot of bigger, more high profile opportunities that she'll want to go for after BSG is over.

Do you remember the old SciFi Inside : SciFi Friday promo, when someone asked Rachel Luttrell:

- I would like to see Galactica and Cylons to destroy a Wraith Hive ship!
- It sounds cool, but it will never gonna happen. - and RL smiles. :P

I really liked when Tricia Helfer ("Six") appeared in SGC to speak with Ben Browder, but I think we don't need BSG main actors in Atlantis.

Her appearance will be totally wraith. She is be the queen, who have been rumored among the wraight community as someone who symphatizes with the humans they feast on, the wraight in self conflict who is going thru an identity crisis, a wraight queen in conflict with her own nature. Then upon hearing of the antedote developed by Beckett, she went on a journey to seek out the humans by recruiting the help of a few wraight worshippers.

BSG is over and done after season 4. That's the end of it. I like BSG but this is the people behind it saying it so I'd rather not have subpar BSG with someone else at the helm.

Katee Sackhoff on Atlantis as a recurring or semi-regular character would be interesting but I would want to see how her character is first before she gets the go ahead to be a regular.

It has failed in the ratings. It's ratings were lower than Atlantis and it cost 10X as much. Besides I gave up on it after season 2. For me they ruined BSG. All it has become is a soft core porn.IMHO.

Nope, SGA and BSG averaged similar ratings last season.

Um, no. Do you have a source? Because everything I've read states that SGA eps run 1-2 million each and BSG eps might average 1-2 million more than that.

I like the AU, Jane Sheppard Idea, except that I'd like her to be exactly like Sheppard but female. Then our Rodney finds out that his double and Jane are an item which of course disturbs him more than anything in the world especially since she is EXACTLY like our Sheppard. Hilarity ensues.

There is a fanfic of female Sheppard in a relashionship with Rodney, it sounds weird but the story is actually pretty good.

so yes fanfic has already done it and probably has done better than anything the writters could come up with.

no im not bitter at the thought of even more additions for 1/2 eps :cool:im just wonderin whats wrong with watching a season with just the cast it has?

Full frontal nudity in BSG? The only full frontal nudity I can think of is in SG1's CotG! :D

Yes, there is more of a focus on sex than the Stargates. BSG as a whole is a more complex and adult show than SGA - it looks at genocide, torture, self-destructive behavior, depression, betrayal, etc. far more in depth than SGA. But come on, there isn't sex in every ep. Not even close.

And that's exactly what makes it such a great show! Those themes are what makes it what it is. BSG is a thought-provoking realistic show about the fundamentals of human nature. I wouldn't even be a Stargate fan if it weren't for BSG.

SGA and BSG are entirely different shows, and I can't even begin to weigh them against each other- this battle that they seem to be forced into by "fans" is ridiculous. I love them both for very different reasons: I don't give a frak about the ratings of either show; I'll enjoy them both as much as I damn well please without all this my show is doing better than yours superfluous bullsh*t; and if actors from either show appear on the other, I'll be more than happy to see them. :)

Nope, if it caused the producers to think that it is one person too many for the audience to accept. Like Amanda Tapping? Wonder if Torri Higginson is thown out because there must be a balance in the main character section. Beckett for Keller? What about Ford for Ronon? Well, I am beginning to think that everytime they bring in one new actor/actress, the other is booted so as to maintain balance. Ommm.

But if as a guest character, I can't say I mind a strong-willed female running around Atlantis for one or two episodes. God knows how much support that land needs.

The other way around, actually. Actors are first "booted" for whatever reason, and then a replacement is thought up and cast.

Battlestar Galactica is a genuine, top-of-the-line space opera. Its consistent, uber-mature dealings with powerful, relevant, real-world-esque issues give it a very dry aftertaste, despite a mouthwateringly tantalizing main course.

Neither Stargate series has ever confessed itself to be a space opera; you can argue the point, but you'd have to take it up with Mallozzi, because it was in his very blog that he made such a counterpoint when defending why darker, deeper cuts don't happen so often. For this, as they're both more of your typical sci-fi deal, it can be just as tasty, but it doesn't ask you to end the episode pondering things on a sociopolitical, longer-impact scale, and getting a bit less sleep that night because you're afraid of what will happen with a certain character immediately after the upcoming episode begins. (Though suffice it to say, we do that anyway.)

Even despite all this, I think an excellent example of a show that really spliced both elements would be Farscape. In its first couple of seasons, not so much, though from time to time, sure. In its latter seasons, though, there were moments that felt Galactica-esque in terms of depth and long-lasting impact on a viewer's mind, and while it shared a much broader sci-fi element akin to Stargate than BSG would ever be caught dead with, it pulled itself off as a space opera with more ongoing arcs and consequences even from the very beginning.

Galactica does this all the time, as in-your-face as possible, and doesn't concern itself with in-between fillers. (Well, it does, but the fanbase tend to find the filler episodes disgusting in comparison to the main ones; at least with Stargate, the fillers don't feel so terribly dissatisfying, as we're accustomed to them and while there are arcs, they aren't so completely all-encompassing as to make us cringe every time they aren't being immediately followed up.)

...Why did I even post all this? I don't know...

It would be bad if katee sackhoff were to appear in atlantis she is the worst actress i've ever seen all she did was giggle and sleep her way through battlestar galactica.

She is nothing more than a female version of captain kirk her rank on galactica
should be ship's ho.

i agree with reddevil18 the only good atlantis episode would be one in which she died very horribly torture, blood, guts, dismemberment.

Ron Moore's biggest mistake was reworking the whole BSG story Starbuck being one of them. Casting a female in a male role was done for one reason and one reason only. Just like making the Cylons human and the lead being an uber hot blonde woman who wore clothes maybe a whole 10 minutes each episode? Please keep Katee off of SGA.
