I was just thinking, what if the writers of SGA put the metal Orichalcum somewhere in the plot? That would be so cool! It could run machinery, just like in the myths.
(For those who don't know, Oricalcum was a metal noted in Plato's dialogue accounting his trip to Atlantis. Some believe it was an alloy of gold, copper, and silver, others believe it was it's own metal. Plato depicted the Atlantians casting the Orichalcum into beads and putting it into their machinery, i.e. putting a bead in like a quarter in a mechanical horse. The machines then did what they were designed for, may it have been digging, preparing food, or as entertainment.)
