Spoilers New Order Pt.1 season 8

You mean what Teal'C wanted to touch just before Carter was beamed away?
I guess that was somehow related to the shield because the hull had been breeched in that section...

Exactly aAnubiSs! A lot of people suspect tin foil is actually an alien metal. Think about it's properties. How many kinds of metal DON'T retain heat? They also found tin foilish metals at Roswell, like my buddy above mentioned. ;O

Are you implying that the Roswell crash was the Asgard, and that we got tin-foil from their ship? Hmmm...interesting theory. When was tin foil "invented?"

Roswell wasn't Tin-Foil, but most people think so. It was a plastic version of Tin-foil, cause the plastic version expands back to it's original flat form if you twist and turn it, and tin-foil does not

At the risk of starting a Rosewell discussion....

... the Project Mogol balloons carried large radar targets using foil coverings. Foil was also used in strips dropped out of airplanes during World War II in order to confuse radar signals. Commonly known as chaff, but also known during the war as 'Window.'

It's kind of like in Atlantis. That little map thing that Sheppard got there looked like a PDA with fancy plastic over it. Or that chair in Antarctica looked like a normal chair with some goop just plastered on.

And some of the costumes for thos people from Teyla's planet... One of them was wearing a pair of jeans that were blotched with bleach.

And we're not supposed to notice

My basic rule of thought for special effects/set design is this...

Think about Star Wars; Episode 1 and 2, while yes they both looked great, had wonderful special effects and sets, the storylines were both lacking (IMO anyway).

Look at Stargate, low-budget, but still manages to have an awesome story.

Might have something to do with the fact that it's a weather ballon.....
It’s the show that doesn’t end, it goes on and on my friends, some people started watching not knowing what it was, but they will be watching forever just because it’s the show that doesn’t end…..

To be precise it wasn't a weather ballon. It was carrying a load of sensors to attempt to detect Soviet atomic testing by radiation in the upper atmosphere. But same difference
