Okay, I did not need to see a toe-less Claire in that level of detail. Ew.

I've decided that while Hiro is still my favorite, he really needs Ando with him as a sidekick. Their 1-2 act really worked well and I miss it here.

I'm amused at how the Irish guys were trying to steal iPods, what with the news of NBC feuding with iTunes and all. :D

Go Mr. Muggles! Scare off that nasty stalker kid! Man, he freaks me out.

Definitely a very good episode overall. Had thought Sylar was making his return tonight, so that bummed me out not seeing him.:( But we did get more of Peter (man is he bad-ass). I can't wait until he regains his memories.:) That part at the end, with Claire's toe, was even a little unsettling to me. It kind of made my foot hurt.;)

Yeah for a second I thought Mr. Muggles was going to eat it. I knew it was coming, but it was still like "ahhh Jesus". How long till Heroes gets sued by whoever made those scissors?

Ahh, Kensei the Immortal. Was I the only one yelling at Hiro to pull out that last arrow? Or making bad Doctor Who references? ;)

Claire? Squick. Mega squick. Agree on not needing to know that level of detail and on the horror/disbelief that a toe can be cut off with a pair of scissors. *shudder*

As for the ipods thing... I guess I'm having a little trouble believing it. Peter was handcuffed in a shipping crate. Why the heck would they think he had anything to do with the ipods? What, he was part of a team of thieves and got left behind? And the fact that he's HANDCUFFED doesn't say that maybe something's a bit off in the situation? And you don't even consider the possibility that there were never any ipods and that maybe Peter was the only cargo? Does Ireland not watch the Sopranos?? :P It just seems weird. If I were a thief and I broke into a cargo container to find a HUMAN BEING CHAINED TO A WALL my first thought would be that I was being set up for something much worse than a simple theft and I sure as heck wouldn't bother with the "where the hell are my ipods? *SMACK*" line of inquiry.

good episode. Though, I am really sick of the 3 minutes commercials every 5 minutes. WTF?!

Claire at the end made me cringe. LOL.

I want to see some more Peter!

And Nathan's beard??!! can someone give him a razor? it is horribly fake looking. take it off please.

Did I mention how I hated all the very LONG commercials??

Did you also pick up on the fact that the Spanish girl is the key to killing this season's Big Bad? I forget the exact words the healer woman said, but it was something to the effect of the darkness she had within her (what is the girl's name again?) is the only thing that can stop it/him/whatever. I'm sure someone will find the exact words for me later, thank you. :D

I don't remember the exact wording but it was something along the lines of "Something so black it could kill the devil"

Ok this is probably a really dumb question but... did Hiro heal him or did the guy heal himself? The only reason I ask is because he looked surprised when it happened, and you would think that you might notice that you can heal yourself. I mean he has had to have hurt himself before and noticed he healed very quickly.

Could be the first time it's ever happened, or maybe he's never been really badly hurt.

Takezo Kensei is a coward, so I can imagine he just swindled himself out of getting hurt long enough to not notice his developed powers.

The whole toe thing was kind of... gross; but it was cool seeing it grow back. I wonder what happened to the cut off toe? Will it grow an evil Claire clone?

I don't expect Sylar to show up right away... I'm sure he's biding his time.

I really hope we get to learn what Hiro's Dad and Peter's Mom's powers are... if they indeed had any.

October 2nd, 2007, 01:34 AM
To all those who are a bit dis-believing about Kensi not knowing he could heal.... remember the end of S1 when they showed the clip of Hiro arriving in Feudal japan... There was an eclipse there, was there not? Perhaps it was the eclipse which activated some of the ppl's powers, like it did with the S1 characters.

Betelgeuze
October 2nd, 2007, 02:33 AM
Yeah, maybe the eclips has something to do with activating peoples powers. Or perhaps they need to be in a certain situation to activate them, like a very stressfull situation.

I thought the Clair's toe scene was really cool. Thought that boy that's been following her around is stupid, he can fly, but he gets freaked out by seeing someone regenarte?

Maya and Alejandro are really interesting i think, one has the abillity to make people drop dead, and the other can bring them back, awesome. I also think that Maya may be the one who defeats the bad guy this season.

Peter seems to have better control over his powers now he lost his memory. Maybe his emo attitude interfered with his control.

And i absolutely agree about that horrible beard that Nathan's sporting, i get grossed out everytime i see it, he looks like a stone age reject.

I think Claire's car getting stolen will come up again. Someone took it for a reason, I'm sure.

So, the guys holding Peter hostage somehow managed to find the only black guy in Ireland and recruited them into their gang?

ShadowMaat

Is there a sign on Ireland that says "whites only"? Gosh, who knew...

As for Kensei, while I don't recall there being an "all those" expressing disbelief at his surprise, I do wonder if he heals ALL his injuries or if it's strictly related to fatal wounds; might put a different spin on things and it could also explain why he's never noticed it before: some people can get through their whole lives without dying. ;)

I was also mildly annoyed with Claire for not looking up when Mr Muggles was barking. He was clearly indicating the sky and since it's written in some rulebook that "no one ever looks up" that'd be one of the first things I did: it could always be aliens hovering in a mothership or something. :P

isabelqc

Things that I absolutely adored in the episode:

Hiro and Kensei - OMG these two are stealing the frakkin' show! And Kensei can heal!!! Can I just say AWESOME! I can totally see this duo now. Hiro stopping time, Kensei fighting and never dying.

Maya and Alejandro - The Wonder Twins! I love these two. I love how Alejandro literally saves Maya from herself, from her power. This show is winning with awesome sibling duos. And Maya power - Damn! "What you have inside you is black" -- what a line!

Peter - Just keep the shirt off ;) And the box. What's in the box, and did he look at it like holds dirty pictures of Nathan... And as for him having DL's power I think it happened during the Four Months because he never got close enough to DL in s1... *shrug*

Mama P - you slut! You slept w/ Daddy Nakamura! Naughty. And Matt's face at that was priceless. Plus whoever wants you dead is bad ass. My theories: Claude, but not really... Sylar, but again not really... New badass Baddie with the power of empathy like your son, maybe. Maybe.

The Haitian Sensation - *bounces* I love that he's back!!! Mo, HRG and the Haitian. Made of win.

As for everything else:

Flying emo boy - *eyes* I still don't like you. Sure you will now give major subtext to fics about you and Claire, but nope.

MmM - you three are too cute. Mohinder you just had to speak French and get prettier :D

Nathan - Peter's alive! Shave and go after him!

Claire - DUDE. Ouch. You still rock, but frak!

Mama B and Mr. Muggles - okay you're funny with the dog show thing, but lets not kill it. I still like you.

I like how now it's become canon that two+ people can have the same power, which was first brought up by Claude last season, and it makes sense b/c really how many powers can you make up before they begin getting ridiculous.

And I think it's awesome that they gave Kensei the power to regenerate like Claire, makes me want for Hiro to bring him back to the Future even more.

I'm sure someone will find the exact words for me later, thank you. :DShe and her brother better have a purpose (ok I know they had to have one) but them tromping through the woods evading police is getting tiresome...because so far it's mainly serving as filler, imo, except for tonight's revelation about how strong her power is and how her brother counteracts it. And having to read subtitles is annoying as well. Reading them for Hiro's storyline not so bad, but now I have to read even more....I don't watch tv to read subtitles.

Anyway good episode overall and still my favorite show on tv. :) They had me worried there for a moment that Kensei was really dead, but I should have know better cuz I just couldn't see them being done with that actor just yet.

Um Ireland joined the EU 34 years ago, things have kind of changed since then

When we joined the EU we were almost a third world country (most people being forced to emigrate)

Now we're the second wealthest country (per capita) in the world (damn you Japan! :P) Although most of our prosperity has come since the late nineties and the economic boom since then.

Nowadays non-Irish nationals (immigrants) now make up 10% of the population

Actually we don't really know how 'close' Peter needs to be to absorb a power from someone else. He didn't even need to be in 'physical' contact with Ted in order to absorb his power, just in a couple of yards of him.

Kensei is IMMORTAL this was discussed during the summer. So naturally Hiro does not have to bring him into the future since Kensei can just show up because he is still alive. I would not be surprised if he is the one killing off company leaders.

Pretty good ep so far. I still can't get over the fact that Papa N is dead. I wish he and Mama P would've switched places, I never liked her character...oh well...

And what a pleasant surprise to see Dominic Keating in this ep! (he played Lt. Reed in Enterprise)

Claire's toe-off was pretty gross indeed but then I'd like to see whether she can grow her head back if it got chopped off.

BTW is Nathan not a Congressman anymore or what? I thought he won the election by a landslide. Just what's up with him 'cept the fact that he's now a drunk?

Trek_Girl42
October 2nd, 2007, 03:20 PM
First, I thought Mr. Muggles was going to eat the toe too.

Second, Peter with his shirt off for half the ep? Didn't mind it one bit..... ;)

Third, The Toe itself, oh ew! :P Great scene though, with Mr. Muggles. Laugh, followed by cringe, followed by laugh was the reaction to that one. :P

Anyway, great ep, I loved the Hiro stuff, especially when he says "Ando's never going to believe this", or something along those lines while riding the horse. :D When Kensei got shot I freaked out because I did NOT want him to die! Was very relieved to see him with healing power. And couldn't help but think of a certain Captain..... ;)

Really? Cool. I hadn't heard that - I've been pretty spoiler free about the show. The fact that Kensei is now looking to be immortal just adds a whole bunch of different levels to the possibility of him being in the future and being the main baddie and then re-meeting Hiro, especially for Hiro if his hero, his idol, ends up being bad. I hope he's not - come on you were already an awesome Baddie on Alias, lets be an awesome hero here!

As of mid-season 1, it was about 10 to 15 feet, because Peter turned visible again after Claude left the range of Peter's powers.

Actually I can see Kensei hooking up with Ando in the present and filling him in on what he remembers and then mentioning that at some point Hiro just disappeared. Or something.

I suppose Hiro has to show up in the present again at some point, but some interesting things could happen in the meanwhile.

Maybe Kensei is one of the forces behind this mysterious Company. Wouldn't that be ironic? ;)

Oooh... this season is looking good. One of the things I love about the show is the way it straddles between the comic and the grotesque. That whole Kensai arc is just killing me. And Claire's toe... honestly, I had to cover my eyes. That is taking experimenting on yourself just a little too far, don't you think. The twins are great... and yeah, I too thought that Maya is going to be the one to deal with the bogeyman.
So Kensai has regenerative abilities. Cool. I don't suppose he's an ancestor of Claire's, is he?
I like badass Peter... a lot... but that arc... not so much. As some of you have said, those thieves are a little... how should we put it... lacking up there, thinking a man would steal their booty and then chain himself up just so that they'd know who took their stuff. Yeah, right.
Still, I thought Peter and Irish girl, whose name escapes me, was very cute.

I guess the title does make a lot of sense in light of what we've seen.

After the severely disapointing 2x01 this episode was a breath of fresh air. Everyone's stories were interesting (Peter's being the highlight for me), and unlike Kaito's death, Angela's attack was well directed and well written. Special bonus points for the Haitian and HRG at the end, Angela and Matt, and Isaac getting a mention.

And Claire's toe... honestly, I had to cover my eyes. That is taking experimenting on yourself just a little too far, don't you think.

I did cringe...but I think she only chose the toe because her teacher had said that humans had evolved past needing the little toe - if you think about it...it could have been a lot worse!

On further thought, I don't think the theory that Kensai is killing the Company bigwigs holds up unless he's got another power. I can imagine him pushing him Mr N over the building but for him to kill Mrs Petrelli in a locked room without his being there... I dunno... There could be more than one person involved I suppose but the suggestion at the moment is that it is the work of one person.

I wonder too about those eight paintings... Should be interesting.

The thought that he could be in charge of something did cross my mind but it was something Mr N said before his aerial acrobatics that made me think it was just the one person. Could be that I'm reading more into it that I need to.

Didn't Angela Petrelli make a reference to "12" people in the company when she was talking to Papa Nakamura? I took that to mean that Linderman, Nakamura, and the Petrelli's dad were part of the 12 that died, and some of the other 8 are after her now. Is Molly's bogeyman one of them, or someone they're responsible for creating? (Remember how Linderman claimed to have "bred" Micah's power?)

My friend and I were both covering our eyes and yelling "no!" at the tv when the camera focused on those scissors. Gross.

If Kensei is immortal does that mean Claire is, too? I wondered if she'd ever age.

Both the Irish thugs and amnesiac Peter are being doofuses. I agree about the stupidity of "Let's ask the half-naked, chained up dude where our iPods are...he seems like a knowledgeable fellow".

Also, why doesn't Peter just take the box and leave? Peter's a nice guy and all, but the dude holding the box kept him tied to a chair and beat him repeatedly...I'd be all over a little telekinetic smackdown to get my box o' memories back.

Come on, this is the guy who uses comic books as his guide to reality...even before he knew the one he was reading was real. He's not exactly known for his realistic out look on life. In his comic view, there are heroes, victims and villains. all of whom are true to their designation.

And while I want to believe that Kensei(DA) stays good, there is a good chance that he'll turn - after all we've already sign of him caring more about himself than others - and he might end up being a baddie. I hope not, but it wuld add an interesting obstacle for Hiro: The man he helped become a lengend is the man trying to do whatever evil deed they might make him do.

It could be that Kensei's encounter with Hiro has the same effect as Captain Jack's encounter with the Doctor and Rose: maybe it'll wake him up a bit and help him realize his inner hero.

Of course, while Kensei's fun, he's no Jack, and somehow the idea of him suddenly becoming the Hero of Legend seems a bit... optimistic. It might be more interesting if he doesn't to the line Hiro's trying to draw for him.

Or perhaps he'll be a good guy for a while only to turn evil and jaded later on.

Whatever the outcome, I think he's definitely one to watch. :D

The toe isn't going to grow another Claire any more than snipping the tail off a lizard is going to grow another lizard.

It would still be awesome, though. D:

Isn't using cellphones to plan the demise of the company stupid? can't the company monitor the lines

^ I was thinking that too during that scene.

But anyway, great episode! Hiro and Kensei are awesome, I'm definitely gonna love their stories. I wouldn't be surprised if Kensei is an ancestor of Claire. I still like the idea of the two new heroes trying to reach America, its really interesting: one twin spreads a plague while the other cures it.

Peter and the Irish Mob thing I'm still trying to get used to but it should definitely be interesting. The whole thing with older Generation being hunted down one by one is probably the most intriguing story of them all, can't wait to see how that turns out.

OT: I have 1337 posts :D

I think Claire's car getting stolen will come up again. Someone took it for a reason, I'm sure.

So, the guys holding Peter hostage somehow managed to find the only black guy in Ireland and recruited them into their gang?

Good call. I think that American the Mexican Bro and Sis rescued stole it cause whe they left the police station in tonight's episode, they left in a silver Nissan like Claire's.

Do we know what her high school team's name is? 'cos they made a big point of flashing that bumper sticker.

Personally, I'd like to see Alejandro and Maya run into Meredith (Fire!Mommy) near the mexican border....

The Hooded Man?

A definite possibility, Matt. Although...

I dunno if Kensei is likely to be quite so hands on. Even with Hiro he seems more like the kind of guy who'd make (or let) others do his dirty work for him, and after so much time... I think he'd be more of a puppet master working behind the scenes than an actual player on the field.

this was shown on BBC3 last week, i don't know if anyone is watching it on the Beeb or if everyone who likes it has seen it already. but i thought i bump this anyway. so west can fly, but it seemed different to petrelly flying... or is it just becuase he's younger, it seemed slower, and more like levitation.

1. OK, we've now seen the Honduran siblings powers in action. Not quite what I was led to believe but looks good.

2. The Haitian's back in business - could be interesting!

3. Claire's cutting her toes off...could be sick.

4. Peter's hanging out with Irish gangsters...don't mind this storyline actually, if they're going to go the amnesia route...they have to have him rediscovering his abilities somehow, still don't know why he wound up in Ireland in the first place though. As has been said before though, the gangsters are thick as planks...I'm sorry you lost your score but haven't you 'heard' of amnesia you fools?

Interesting set up so far!

Okay, I did not need to see a toe-less Claire in that level of detail. Ew.

I've decided that while Hiro is still my favorite, he really needs Ando with him as a sidekick. Their 1-2 act really worked well and I miss it here.

I agree. At first Ando and Hiro threw me off, especially when Hiro and Ando got in trouble all cause of Ando's greed. BUT later on, they grew on me.

As to the toe scene, i actually LIKED they went into that much detail. Shows us what she is capable of.

And Nathan's beard??!! can someone give him a razor? it is horribly fake looking. take it off please.

I might be the only one who LIKED seeing Nathan all 'grizzley adams'ed up".. I like him with the beard.

Maybe his power of healing hadn't kicked in TILL Hiro got there? Remember he had the sword of the Kensai..

I really hope we get to learn what Hiro's Dad and Peter's Mom's powers are... if they indeed had any.

Ms Perelli is a precog.. Not sure if she is as potent as the artist was, but as for Mr Nakamura.. According to the Heroes wiki, he is 'probablity computation'..

Good catch.. The Eclipse did happen in both seasons..

Actually we don't really know how 'close' Peter needs to be to absorb a power from someone else. He didn't even need to be in 'physical' contact with Ted in order to absorb his power, just in a couple of yards of him.

Plus since he has 'been active in time when Future hiro came back to give him the warning, perhaps he has already 'copied Hiro's space/time manipulation powers. And he was a good 10ft or so from Hiro there..

And what a pleasant surprise to see Dominic Keating in this ep! (he played Lt. Reed in Enterprise)

So that makes 3 Trek alums.. Him, Daddy Nakimura and Uhura..

Hiro can't leave because he has to make sure he fixes history. Doesn't he realize that legends are always exaggerated.

I question the use of cell phones to talk about your plans to destroy the company. If I was the company I would be sure to bug/monitor the phone or the new guy since he was at odds with us before

Perhaps the company DID bug it, but let both HRG and Mohinder think they were cool..
