Hello all,

Does anybody here watch this show?

It just started airing the 2nd season here in Australia, and it looks pretty good.

I saw S1 a few years back and always thought it interesting to have some kind of viewpoint as to what actually happen to people who die with unfinished business in the land of the leaving.

I'm sure there must be plenty of people who've died who maybe in this situation and it'd be interesting to know for sure if something the likes of this show does really genuinely happen.

Apart from that, I think the show is very interesting and heartwarming and can't wait to find out what the deal is with the angry "black coated" ghost...and why he's really after Melinda Gordon.

is it true this show was originally supposed to be a 6th sence tv show about the boy grown up and then they decided it needed sex appeal more than it needed a movies title so they changed it?

Duff to appear in 'Ghost Whisperer'
Thursday, January 22 2009, 11:24 GMT

By Alex Fletcher, Entertainment Reporter

Actress and singer Hilary Duff has signed up to appear in CBS drama Ghost Whisperer, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Duff, whose acting credits include The Lizzie McGuire Movie and Cheaper By The Dozen, will play a "beautiful woman of mystery" who is possibly involved in the death of a man.

Ghost Whisperer star Jennifer Love Hewitt is a close friend of the 21-year-old.

Earlier this month, Duff was linked to new NBC sitcom Barely Legal. She is expected to play the lead character, an 18-year-old, who passes the California bar and becomes the state's youngest attorney.

Question: Do you have any juicy Ghost Whisperer spoilers? --Mary

Ausiello: For real, yo. Exec producer P.K. Simonds teases that "the rest of our season isn't about death -- it's about new life." Say what? "[That] isn't to say, in a show called Ghost Whisperer, that no one will die," he quickly clarifies. "Obviously, people will die -- including someone close to one of our main characters." Whew.

i've had some serious issues with the show and this year's plot development

spoilers for first run in the us

I hate that they 'killed' jim. yeah, so his spirit is in that dude's body, but it rings of a cheap ratings ploy. I watch the show now for the melinda/jim soap but the stories of the other people. and have found this M/J angst to be totally off putting.

When i rewound the tapes from last week, i fast forwarded through a new GW in favor of a re-run of flash point.

now they're stunt casting?

IMHO, it's looking like if the show gets cancelled this spring it'll be a mercy killing

Oh my gosh, I love this show to death.

*MAJOR SPOILER FOR RECENT EPISODES*
I am so frustrated that they killed Jim! And Sam is an @$$. Gah, WHY? I love Jim. He is so supportive and kind, but now he cant remember anything. Delia says that Melinda is lucky, that she will have a second shot at her one true love, but I think that it is really sad.

Becky: So great that Jim remembered himself on Ghost Whisperer, but what's next? Do they still have two guys playing one character?

According to Ghost Whisperer show runner P.K. Simonds, "We might catch a couple of glimpses" of Kenneth Mitchell, the actor who plays Sam, during the remainder of the season, but that's it. And we'll see David Conrad as Jim, but everyone on the show still perceives him as Sam. "He can't resume [his Jim life] exactly, because Sam Lucas doesn't have a license to practice emergency medicine, but obstacles are also opportunities. He finds a new direction that actually allows him to go after a specific dream he's always had." Like, say, Jim's dream of medical school? Looks like Grandview residents might eventually enjoy Jim's bedside manner via Dr. Sam Lucas...

Alexis in Santa Fe, N.M.: Are we going to see more of the Watchers on Ghost Whisperer?

Ghost Whisperer show runner P.K. Simonds says we will "definitely" see more Watchers and begin to learn about how the "very important" Book of Changes relates to their abilities: "Over the very, very long span of time that they've been watching, [the Watchers] have observed that history tends to repeat itself. That gives them a certain ability to make a pretty good educated guess about what the future is. They are able to know something about what's taking shape, let's say, in a character's womb. And yes, it's possible to know certain things about the gift that might be growing."

Fall TV: Which sci-fi/fantasy series will win, lose, draw?

Ghost Whisperer: Who'd have thought four years ago that this little supernatural series—about a young woman who acts as a social worker for the dead—would end up being the go-to show for CBS on Friday nights? While nearly every other show has fallen in ratings, Ghost Whisperer has stayed strong. Beyond that, it had a good season creatively. Next season, Ghost takes on The CW's Smallville and NBC's Law & Order, neither of which should have much of an effect on it since they have different audiences. So we're calling Ghost Whisperer a WINNER.

'Ghost Whisperer' to leap forward five years

The next season of Jennifer Love Hewitt's Ghost Whisperer will leap five years into the future, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Producers of the CBS drama are reportedly considering moving the story forward several years to show Melinda (Love Hewitt) and Jim's (David Conrad) son at pre-school age.

Season four of Ghost Whisperer ended with Melinda discovering that her child would have psychic abilities even more powerful than her own.

Question: Is there still time to get producers of Ghost Whisperer to change their minds about this five-year flash forward? I think it's a mistake. -- Claire

Ausiello: Don't think so. Any and all hope of getting them to un-ring the time jump bell was pretty much lost on Tuesday when they put out a casting call for Melinda and Jim's now-5-year-old son Aiden.

Abandoning the tranquility of the beach, we headed inside to the chaos surrounding Whisperer's latest recruit, Jamie Kennedy, to quiz him about the upcoming fifth season, his new romance with co-star - and boss - Jennifer Love Hewitt, and whether he'll be back for the new Scream movie.

i pretty much gave up on this one when they

killed jim. the whole 'old spirit in new body' just rang like a ratings stunt to me.

I've always been attracted to the ghost stories with a side dish of melinda and jim, not the melinda soap opera. it was just one leap too far for me.

flashing forward 5 years? a way to have a kid but not deal with the baby aspect and try to use a cute kid to bolster ratings or spark off story ideas.

I have no idea what the ratings are for the show, but this all looks like a bunch of stunts to pump up the ratings.

I have no patience for stunts.

I'd watched loyally since the show's first episode, but the events of last season just pushed it over the shark for me

my fave season of ghost whisperer is s1, i loved it... every episode of season one touched me and i really liked the frienship between melinda and andrea...

i agree, the whole jim dies and is now in sam is a completely stupid story line and makes it irritating for me to watch a show i otherwise enjoy...

are we supposed to believe the the people jim worked with for eg dont find it strange that melinda is now with 'sam' only 2 months after loosing the love of her life... that people arent going to find it strange that she married 'sam' just 6 after loosing the love of her life... ill give them points for not making it a public wedding ceremony... and how 'sam' is perfectly delighted to date/marry and take care of her dead husbands kid...

its all just too weird, i wish jim had just stayed jim... it seems a tad ridiculous to me to be paying some guy to be an occassional reflection in a mirror or window... it feels like the show has 'jumped the shark' to me with this whole jim in another body story line...

desperate housewives did that and i was very dubious about seeing the fifth season because of it... but i think it has worked really well... they have been able to use storylines, with the kids for eg, that they couldnt have had they stayed on track date wise...

so while im still not a fan of the jim/sam thing, i think it makes sense for melinda to have a 5 year old more then it does for her to have a baby...

Ghost Whisperer - Comic- Con Spoilers

1) It's confirmed that the show IS jumping five years in the future, which isn't really a shock to any of us by now, though I realize I'm among the few who really likes this idea since I hated where they left off last season!

2) Ned's in college and dating. Delia, too, will be dating. My reaction: *sigh* Can't someone get a storyline that doesn't involve dating?! On the plus side, I tend to love the ghost stories set in college, so hopefully Ned being there will give us some good ones.

3) We're going to meet Eli's parents. My reaction: Just what I've always dreamed of...not! I would rather learn more about ANY of the other characters' families...and, hey, rememember that whole plotline with Melinda and her dad and brother? Well, I remember, but it seems the writers don't!

4) Jim and Melinda do in fact have a son, and his name is Aidan. They also confirmed that he'll be even more powerful than Melinda. My reaction: not sure what to think here...I don't care at all that it's a son, as I never saw the need for Melinda to have a daughter instead and think interesting parenting issues related to her own relationship with her parents can be an issue regardless of her child's gender...if the writers bother exploring those issues at all, that is! As for him being powerful...well, er, at least that'll make his scenes more interesting than the typical 'cutesy precocious children' scenes we see on most other shows IMO.

5) JLH is directing the first episode of S5 and also the 100th episode of the series.

6) They're playing it coy as to whether we'll see Homer the Ghost Dog again this season, which would honestly be my favorite spoiler of all---by far!

kristapurpelle41 in Elkridge, Md.: Are they going to recast Ned again with the Ghost Whisperer time jump? I love "new" Ned, and that would definitely put him in college.

The adorable Christoph Sanders isn't going anywhere—and neither is his character. You're right—in the new season, Ned is a college student, studying the paranormal at Grandview's very own Rockland University. As the 21-year-old actor points out, "This season I'll be playing my own age! Eli [Jamie Kennedy] is one of my teachers!" Their collaborations include the Book of Secrets and understanding "how powerful [Melinda's son] will be and what kind of powers he will have." Ned's also getting busy in the romance department—even though he's still living with his mom, Delia. As Camryn Manheim tells us: "All of a sudden he's bringing girls home, and I'm bringing guys home, and it's a different dynamic."

1. i really like this idea as well... it makes much more sense to the show for melinda to have a 5 year old then a baby... it opens it up to more stories... and hopefully the jim in sams body thing wont seem so stupid given the time jump...

2. i like that neds going to be in college... this opens up the stories for not only him but ghosts as well... and it also adds a new dynamic with ned and eli interacting more... as for dating, as long as it doesnt become the focus it doesnt bother me... although i have wondered what happened to the guy she was dating...

3. i dont know that meeting elis parents will really accomplish a whole lot story line wise... as long as they dont try and bring sams family back though...

4. it will be interesting to see how melinda and jim raise a son with powers more so then melindas, and it will be interesting to see the dynamic melinda has raising a child with such powers...

5...

6. i like homer the ghost dog too...

Is a Medium/Ghost Whisperer crossover possible?

Fans of Medium were relieved when CBS decided to pick up the show after NBC did not renew it for the fall schedule, and today, president of CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler told reporters that her network will do Medium better than its original broadcaster.

"On behalf of the studio, I don't think NBC really treated the show the way it should have been treated, where it was put on the schedule, how it was supported," Tassler said in a press conference at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Pasadena, Calif. "To get Emmy winner Patricia Arquette on Friday night for us was a home run."

Tassler did not remember the specific chronology of when NBC let Medium go and when CBS swooped in, but she recalls proactively chasing the show. "When we did know that we had an opportunity, we jumped at it," Tassler continued. "We're thrilled with the show. I can't remember the actual chronology, but it was pretty fast."

Medium joins Ghost Whisperer on CBS Friday nights in the fall. The two shows create a supernatural block for CBS, with both Patricia Arquette and Jennifer Love Hewitt playing characters with the power to communicate with spirits of the dead. For now, that is where the similarities will end, but Tassler remained open to the possibility of crossovers in the future.

Sure do. When we chatted up Jennifer Love Hewitt and her boo, Jamie Kennedy, last week, they told us that one of their favorite scenes for the new season so far was this: "We got to do sort of a Nick and Norah-esque scene the other day where we got to be funny and serious, and cause trouble. That was a lot of fun," says J.Love. As for Jamie, he says he gets to flex his emotional muscles more this year. "This is the first time where they let me do emotional stuff. It's been hard. I look at her and say, 'Jeez. How do you cry so much?' " J.Love says, "He's really good at it. People are going to be really impressed."

I have not been able to keep myself interested in this show, I have honestly tried, I have in earnest attempted to enjoy 5 episodes, resorting to drinking heavily for the 5th one in a vain attempt to improve the show. I instead ended up making party of five jokes for an hour.

It just doesn't have the same feel as most of the other shows on the scifi network for me, it just seems like an odd attempt to capture a different demographic.

above criticism is not directed at anyone, just my personal feelings on the show. Apply those same opinions to " Joan of Arcadia" which for some reason is on scifi channel, and really is driving me freaking banana sandwich that it takes up so much play time on scifi during the week.
