SPOILERS FOR RISING, UNDERGROUND
OK here's my theory:
-I agree with the posters said that Atlantis was not all the Ancients, but only a few trying to start over after the plague.
-The Ancient hologram said they were overconfident and unprepared.
-The Ancients don't seem to have any ships other than jumpers and the city itself. We have never seen any evidence they had any ships, in the MW or in Pegasus. They may have stopped using ships when they invented the stargates, possibly as long as 50 million years ago.
-The Wraith have sixty hive ships which would give them a much greater mobility than the Ancients.
I think the Wraith defeated the Ancients with greater numbers and mobility rather than superior technology, similar to the barbarian tribes against the weakened Roman empire.
That happens to be how I feel about it. What do you think?
