On his blog today, JM stated that a story by the name of "Harmony" has filled the final slot:

The last story slot has finally been filled. We spent most of yesterday spinning, then breaking Harmony which I am really, really, REALLY looking forward to. Alas, I won’t be writing it as Marty G. will be assuming said duties, but I have no doubt he’ll do a brilliant job AND have a lot of fun with it.

http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2007/08/august-2-2007.html

Wonder what it's about!

EDIT

Some clarification from Joe's blog:

PG-15 writes: “1. Harmony: is it the episode filling the last empty slot? 2. You mentioned breaking the Shep-on-Earth story next week, but I thought you guys have already spun it out, or at least broken it already? 3. So, Martin Gero is doing "Harmony"? Wow, so he's writing his "Three's Company" episode, the JF-pitched story, AND Harmony? He's going to be busy.”

Answers: 1. Yes, Harmony takes the last empty episode slot. 2. We started spinning the story but took a break to work on Harmony, then will switch gears again to work on the Sheppard on Earth story next week. 3. Martin was writing the Sheppard on Earth story but, having finished Trio (formerly Three’s Company), he will start on Harmony while Alan McCullough assumes writing duties on the JF-inspired eppy.

UPDATE 1 First update is here from Joe's Blog!

I’m really looking forward to Harmony. I know Jodelle will be brilliant. She’s always brilliant.

UPDATE 2 Corresponding to the above

Answer: Maaaaybe…

UPDATE 3 MASSIVE Plot spoilers for this episode from SG-1 Solutions (thanks to SGFerrit for posting it up)

Introduction

“Harmony” is currently scheduled to be the seventeenth episode to air in Season Four of Stargate Atlantis. The episode is written by Martin Gero.

Details

Summary: Always keen on helping their allies, Sheppard and McKay accept a proposal made by Harmony’s sisters to accompany her on a trek into the forest to seek guidance to become queen in her late mother’s stead. Will Harmony become the planet’s new queen, or will an enemy assassinate her — and her escorts?

Flora and Mardola are entertaining Sheppard and McKay in the royal audience room in celebration of their society’s alliance with the Expedition. Both McKay and Sheppard enjoy the grain and fruit obtained in their trade agreement while the Expedition protects them with warnings concerning the Wraith. All is well, except that their sister Harmony must go through a rite of passage for guidance to become queen after their mother’s passing.

The rules of the rite state that the princess must go to the ruins of the great Temple of Laros in the forest alone to meditate and pray and then return. It’s only a day’s journey, but Harmony is so young that Flora and Mardola wish that Sheppard and McKay accompany her to make sure she’s safe. They don’t feel it will be breaking the rules if Sheppard and McKay, both outsiders, go with her.

But, there are Genii soldiers on the planet and Sheppard kills three of them after they are attacked. Why are they there and what do they hope to accomplish in killing Harmony?

Guest Characters

* Harmony
* Flora
* Mardola

EDIT 2 From Gateworld's main page, essentially the same thing as above but with a few new details (bolded):

Colonel Sheppard and Dr. McKay visit one of their favorite planets, where they toast a long-time trading partnership. Their hosts are two beautiful and charming princesses, Flora and Mardola. As palace guards stand nearby, they thank John and Rodney for their life-saving medicine, their warnings about a Wraith culling, and their kindness. The two men are obviously smitten.

But as they prepare to leave, the women bring themselves to ask for a favor. They have a younger sister named Harmony, who they introduce to Sheppard and McKay. With their mother the Queen having recently died, Harmony is the heir to the throne -- but before she can be crowned, she must pass a dangerous test and trek a day's walk into the forest, to the Temple of Laros. While others are generally not permitted to assist in the rite of passage, the concerned older sisters wish Sheppard and McKay to protect Harmony from danger without the others knowing.

They are happy enough to oblige, and head into the woods with the strong-willed girl. It isn't long before danger finds them -- but it's not lions, tigers, or bears. There is a Genii contingent on the planet, and the deadly soldiers seem to be trying to prevent Harmony from ascending to the throne. Though they manage to take out some of the men, they must stay on the run ... and keep young Harmony alive.

The Genii's motives are not solely their own, however. They are working with one of Harmony's sisters.

Guest characters include Harmony, Flora, Mardola, the Genii Field Captain, Genii soldiers, and various palace guards and villagers.

UPDATE 4 Just a very small one:

I’ve been busy: working on my producer’s cut of Kindred I, doing a polish on Martin Gero’s already great Harmony script, and dealing with miscellaneous publicity/production issues - but still managed to find time to send off two emails to my Nigerian penpals -

http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2007/08/august-22-2007.html

UPDATE 5 From JM's blog, and thanks to Alipeeps, a little tidbit from Dave's blog as well:

On the work front: shooting continues on the big team-up eppy, finished the polish on Harmony, almost finished my producer's cut of Kindred I as I await the completion of the Previously On sequence, an exhausted Martin completed his latest (and last) rewrite of Trio, read the first draft of Outcast, and watched the episode with the engagement scene (I have a feeling the fans will love it).

http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2007/08/august-23-2007.html

The next two Stargate Atlantis episodes "Harmony" & "Trio" are really McKay heavy so I doubt I'm going to have much time to do more than just learn lines and sleep, but even with hiatus, DVD releases and babies fast approaching I'm still very eager to get back behind the camera!

http://www.adogsbreakfastmovie.com/content/blogcategory/14/35/

UPDATE 6 Thanks to prion. This time from Dave's Twitter:

Start shooting "Harmony" today. Long way out into the B.C. wilderness for this episode...so a 4:30 am start for lucky me!

http://twitter.com/dhewlett/statuses/232305092

UPDATE 7 Looks like JM won't be able to make it for the shooting today

Well as it turned out, I had the opportunity to do a little summer spring cleaning today since my planned outing to Widgen Park for the first day of Harmony was rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.

http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2007/08/august-28-2007.html

UPDATE 8 BIG update! And thanks to PG15. Looks like Harmony is being shot as we speak:

Eventually, we reached the end of the road - which turned out to be an even rougher trail that continued for another two miles before delivering us to an impromptu tree-lined parking area. I made the rest of the trek on foot, arriving by the water as they were setting up the first shot of the day, a “walk and talk” backlit by the rising sun. It was a beautiful scene, one of those rare instances that someone bears witness to only on those rare occasions he wakes up 5:00 a.m. and takes the 90 minute drive down to the location to watch it being shot - or, better yet, just watches it on t.v. months later.

From there, we moved on to the bridge scene and got as far as blocking the power bar scene before lunch was called. Veal cutlets and peanut butter bars! Fortified, we hiked back into the bush to shoot the power bar scene followed by the search scene and ending with the green screen shot.

Jodelle F. - What can I say? She’s an incredibly talented young lady [who] is doing a fantastic job as little Harmony. Her character, McKay, and Sheppard play wonderfully off one another, and the fun between these three continues long after the scene has been shot.

Apparently, there are cougars in the area, but they’re mainly up in the mountains and only come down when it’s dark - like, say, this Friday when we do the night shoot. Also, excitement galore and a near-disaster averted after quick action was taken to fix a tear in David Hewelett’s pants (“Them aren’t sitting pants!“I warned him.). Ah, show business!

The location (beautiful, ain't it?) (http://bp3.blogger.com/_bu0vVgPPyEs/RtYiWmMlIFI/AAAAAAAAEkk/DFG_F-1CUf4/s1600-h/DSC08728.JPG)

How can you tell? What in the title says end of "wraith civil war"? Is it the word "Harmony"? Which could mean lessened tension amongst the team and Carter? Couldn't it be an allied group of Travelers, Genii, and us? I mean why the wraith civil war of all things? :S

Shoot it could be about McKay having a peaceful bowel movement, without impending doom looming over head. :D

He said it was a guess. :S And why not the Wraith civil war? At this point we know nothing, so one guess is as good as another. What's wrong with speculating?

I'm not saying I agree or disagree...just defending the right to put forth guesses. Which is what this thread's here for isn't it?

Hmmm... I think it's got something to do with spiritual "harmony" ie some ascension thingy (then again, up always up for more ascension/Ancient eps :P) or it's harmony between the section of the Wraith that have allied with us, Genii and the Travelers.

PG15

Hmmm...this is just a brainfart, but since this episode was made up to fill one last spot, I think it's unlikely that it's that arc-related. It'll probably be a good ole' standalone.

True. So that rules out anything to do with the Wraith/Genii/Traveler's situation. "Harmony" to me, implies something to do with Ascension, but maybe that's just me.

Harmony could relate to some kind of tension introduced earlier in season 4 and the end of it.

And couldn´t Harmony mean someone´s name? It might be some character, like episode "Michael".

It does seem like a stand-alone ep. It is the last ep before the season finale.
Harmony means:
1. Agreement in feeling or opinion; accord: live in harmony.
2. A pleasing combination of elements in a whole: color harmony; the order and harmony of the universe.
3. Music.
a. The study of the structure, progression, and relation of chords.
b. Simultaneous combination of notes in a chord.
c. The structure of a work or passage as considered from the point of view of its chordal characteristics and relationships.
d. A combination of sounds considered pleasing to the ear.

So, whales? Michael? Wraith Civil War? Travellers? Genii? Ascension? I bet its either Ascension or another whale story.

Hah, when you put music in bold I thought it was going to be a musical. If it was, I was going to shoot myself in the foot. I'd take watching McKay having a bowel movement over an SGA musical any day!! :D

By the way, why didn't you highlight C or D? Let's say it's stand alone, using D as an ep where they have to do a goonies (play a musical instrument) to get to this massive zpm of unlimited energy. :S As for C, I think a cool ep would be a POV type of ep. Like a reinactment of LFP but on a larger scale, with the video taping. That was a great scene.

http://www.users.on.net/~roscholler/Images/Random/funnay.jpg

No truer post has ever been posted. I thought talking about bowel movement was a dead give away. Guess my assesment was over estimating. The "rescue rangers" felt a need to be called in, to defend honor and the right to post. :mckay:

Ummm.. well this ep is filling the last empty slot in the schedule but that doesn't necessarily mean it will air - or is even intended to air - as the ep before the season finale. We don't actually know anything about the airing order of the second half of the season, beyong Spoils of War, and we know they air filming out of order, possibly more so even than usual, this season...

August 5th, 2007, 06:26 PM
Yep, like Joe said today...

SueS writes: “Since Harmony is the final ep, is it being written as if there will be a season 5 - i.e. with a cliffhanger ending or will all the loose ends be tied up?”

Answer: Harmony is not the season finale. The season finale has yet to be broken. Also, the production order of the episodes does not reflect their air order.

BIG SPOILERS. Basically the plot of the episode, form Stargate Solutions.

Turns out, Harmony is an actual person, not reffering to actual harmony of the galaxy.

I'm suprised such big spoilers slipped out so early on about the episode, we don't have this about many of them yet.

I take it Jodelle will play Harmony? A bit young to be queen of her people don't you think!

If that’s true, it sounds like it will be a good episode.

Sheppard and McKay together, always good.

Sheppard fighting, always good.

Sheppard making the Genii angry always bodes well for future episodes.

I don't think I'll have a problem with the kids. Jodelle did a great job portraying the 7-year old Adria in SG1's "Flesh and Blood" so I think she'll do a good job as Harmony. JM himself said in his blog that Jodelle is doing an excellent job in this episode.

Turns out, Harmony is an actual person, not reffering to actual harmony of the galaxy.

Um, can I say "I told you so"? :cameron:

Well, I have mixed feelings. Sounds too much like Tower. But this looks like McKay/Sheppard friendship episode, which is always good thing because I am big fan of their friendship. :) And imagine that. Rodney and Shepp together in trouble, relying only at each other. I hope that this is the type of episode. I want to see something like that for very long time.
Kids in sci-fi...OK, not so good but when is it well written, then it shouldn´t be a problem. Jodelle is very good, I saw her in Silent Hill.
And Martin Gero writes it, which is the other good thing. I think this might turn in good episode, but we have to wait...very long time :S

Interesting. Sounds like their society practices ultimogeniture, meaning that the youngest child is the heir.

Primogeniture, in which the eldest child inherits, is generally more common but ultimogeniture is not unknown. The Greek gods, for example. Zeus was the youngest son of Cronus and Cronus was the youngest son of Uranus. And various fairy tales in which the youngest son or daughter is the wisest and has the best fate.

To be honest I'm kind of dreading this episode, episodes centred around children are always annoying and Stargate doesn't have a good track record with medieval-esque episodes (they all come accross as cheesy). The Sheperd and McKay being smitten with the elder sister doesn't sound promising either

Klenotka

Spoilers in GW are usually more detailed than the spoilers from Solutions blog. I don´t like the word smitten either :S It seems that they will fight "who takes who" :S And strong-willed girl, I agree, brat.
But the big plus is Martin Gero here. He takes things seriously and doesn´t make parodies from any episodes. And when he writes funny episode, it´s really funny not stupid.
And I also like the "Though they manage to take out some of the men, they must stay on the run ... and keep young Harmony alive." It could be interesting.
I don´t know, I am confused. But, I think we have to wait until February or when will this episode air.;)

I think they are. One episode out of twenty? This looks like the only Sheppard/McKay episode in the bunch. Trio after all is McKay/Carter/Keller, and it looks like Ronon is going back with Sheppard in Outcast, not McKay. For that alone I'm willing to give it a chance because I've been afraid that they would cut out the Shep & McKay stuff altogether. And I have liked a lot of Gero's stuff. But I'm not crazy about kid episodes, and these spoilers do make it sound pretty cheesy. I would rather have had an angsty Shep & McKay episode instead of a humor one.

These are the only spoilers to come out so far that have made me cringe. Not really a fan of kids in episodes.... what age is she ment to be. God if she is going to be Queen then most likely she will be whiny and demanding... sigh.
I really hope we don't see Shep and McKay acting like kids or drooling over some princess half their age. I would much prefer to see a serious angsty Shep/McKay episode rather than a humorous one. I can't even get excited about the Genii as it would be nice to have someone different as an enemy.

I'm sure Shep will manage to kill half a dozen of them without too much difficulty as they're usually not portrayed as having much military skill.

Maybe the episode will have some surprises and turn out better then it sounds. Only time will tell.

My take on the news:

Good Merits:
- Great actress for the girl, I liked her.
- I like child/teen-centric episodes such as "Prodigy", "Sungularity", "Childhood's End", "Training Ground", "The Rite of Passage".
- The Genii are back!

That's about it...

Bad Merits:
- Yet ANOTHER Sheppard/McKay episodes... Come on TPTB, focus a LITTLE less on the S/M show or Sheppard = Kirk episodes.
- Again, KIRKING????
- "The Tower"... horrible episode for the most part. Although I liked the ending.
- This sounds almost as bad as a Lucius Lovin story to me...

I won´t lie when I say that I am happy for any McKay/Sheppard episode. Sure, they have been a lot in many episodes but their own episodes? Trinity was the last one that dealt with their friendship and was really searious. The Game was one of the funnier episodes where they were just teasing and nothing serious happened. Their friendship didn´t really develop.
And how do we know how will S4 look like? As far as I see it, there are lots of team episodes + at least two episodes for every of the characters. So I don´t think it´s time for complaining. They need to have one episode focused at them, because it´s there. The relationship between them is there and tptb should do what? Forget about it just because somebody likes Teyla more and hates Sheppard? Ignore it? Then another group of people will complain. It´s just one episode, for god´s sake, so give it a chance.

But even when I am glad that the princess will be played by talented actress, I am not convinced about the "strong-willed" person. She will probably make trouble, when they will try to protect her, she won´t listen. BUT, I trust MG´s writing abilities. I liked Childhood´s End, and kids in SGA were never disaster at all. So if they will write it carefully, it might work.

I am using "if" for S4 too often  And MG should hope that I am right about him :D

Xicer
August 19th, 2007, 05:39 PM
Strong-willed could just mean that she's a very confident and outright person who isn't afraid to speak her mind. True, she could turn out to be a stubborn little brat but we can't tell at this point.

Heck, they might do something totally different and make her sort of like Leto II and Ghanima from Children of Dune, who were both ten-year old heirs to the largest empire in existence. Those two acted more adult than most of the adult characters in the rest of the book and were very deep and complex. Then again, they did have the memories of all of their ancestors going back thousands of years so I guess it's a little different. :P

But I guess what I'm saying is to be a little more optimistic. We have an excellent child actress who will be playing the lead guest role in this episode along with one of Stargate's best writers writing it. I think it'll turn out pretty good.

Cautious Explorer

This is the Pegasus Galaxy. They can't find a more interesting premise for a child in need of protection? They have to resort to a princess and court intrigue? And of course the princess has two beautiful sisters for the leads to be "smitten" by. :S I hope this turns out a lot better than it sounds.

Kirking ?
Please list all the episodes in which Sheppard can legitimately compared to Kirk in this context.
Don’t include Chaya, she was not a flirtation.
Don’t include Teer, That took 6 months and he was trapped there.
A girl undresses for him in The Tower, but all you see from him is surprise.
He smiles at the woman in Inferno.
He smiles at the woman in the Atlantis mess in No Man’s Land.
So what are the others? I guess I’m missing something here.

BTW to me, SGA is The Sheppard and McKay Show, everyone else is supporting cast.

Why does everyone think this is a kirking ep?! I thought Harmony was a kid, and Flora and Mardola--are adults. But it seems F & M won't be playing a major part as it's Shep/McKay who are guiding Harmony, F & M not included since SGF stated in the spoiler

They don’t feel it will be breaking the rules if Sheppard and McKay, both outsiders, go with her.

The above clearly shows that F & M won't be participating heavily in the storyline for people to even think there is an established kirking. Possibly some attention to the men, but the ladies appear to have their own agenda and aren't for a man. Plus, I think Rodney will still be with Katie Brown (doormat :(), so I doubt anything would happen.

So I don't see the big deal on kirking, it sounds non-existent since the story is around Harmony, her trip to the Temple of Laros, the Genii and McShep. Other than that F & M are fluff and folds in the entire picture.

Further more when I read this
But, there are Genii soldiers on the planet and Sheppard kills three of them after they are attacked. Why are they there and what do they hope to accomplish in killing Harmony?

I saw it as a pre-lude to the

return of KOLYA!!!mentioned to happen in S5, if there is one.

Sheppard and McKay traveling through the woods going to a temple could be funny.
Sheppard and McKay traveling through the woods with a kid could be very funny.
Sheppard and McKay traveling through the woods with a kid when the Genii are trying to kill them could have lots of action and be very tense and exciting.

Lots of action, Lots of snark, Lots of Sheppard and McKay friendship.
Martin Gero.

I dunno, as I said I'm one of the few that really liked The Tower. I don't see McKay as a great role player in that paticular ep, if he was with John. I basically felt John was doing nothing, while his people were doing everything---and Beckett.

I guess my only annoyance was that John was separated from the Team, not the other way round. I wasn't a fan of him single-out and taken to the castle, while his peeps were on the ground.

I think people should look at this more along the lines of The Defiant One---with a kid and change the Wraith to Genii.

None that I know of. They said if they bring him back it would be delayed to S5 not in S4. But Harmony is towards the ending of the season, so there's a chance it's related to him in some way or form if some of the Genii are there. If the Genii are allies with the Atlantis ex, as many people like to tell me and I tell them otherwise, why would John kill them while Ladon and Weir had a tentative agreement. Either their Rogue Genii under new leadership, or Ladon's treaty (if there was one) with Weir never happened. We'll have to see on that.

You're not seeing my point. If they were Genii working for Ladon (and Ladon has a treaty of sorts with Weir), they wouldn't try to kill John in the first place for John to kill them in defence. So if Coup D'etat never happened and/or bonds were broken in lets say around The Return I, then okay Ladon has sent those guys out. But we saw Rogue Genii in Irresponsible. These guys worked for Kolya and not for Ladon. Which is why I think this has to do with the return for Kolya. You don't kill those you have a treaty with, makes the treaty null and void; if you get my meaning.

As for kirking, I don't care that much, one way or another...though I could tolerate it better if the writers would at least fully flesh out John's character. Sheppard/McKay friendship is fine if it's secondary to the story being told. But there are episodes (like The Game) where it seems like someone came up with a wonderful idea for some Sheppard/McKay banter and just slapped a weak frame of a story around it. The plot of this is making me fearful that it's going to resemble the latter.

I'm really having trouble picturing a grown man seriously proposing a story about a child princess needing an escort through the woods. And who better to do it than the two strangers in town ogling her older sisters? Sounds like a recycled Bob Hope/Bing Crosby plot-- maybe The Road to Harmony?

From Joe's blog today, slight update:

I’ve been busy: working on my producer’s cut of Kindred I, doing a polish on Martin Gero’s already great Harmony script, and dealing with miscellaneous publicity/production issues - but still managed to find time to send off two emails to my Nigerian penpals -

Why didn´t you like Brotherhood? I liked this episode, and McKay was great there. But, Willow'sCat, I am sure, you have your specific reason as always :P;)Of course! :p It was more the angle on flirty, flirts that made me roll my eyes in both of those eps, also I do agree with some that the McKay/Sheppard interaction can be predictable, I did like The Brotherhood more then The Game. The Game was only really good for the slasher in me *all that time spent alone with each other playing 'games'. :D* Hmm, but I know how you feel 'bout that kind of talk so shutting up now. ;)

Definitely Defiant one McKay/Sheppard type of episode. I hope this one is serious not funny. We say "funny" in The Game and it didn't´t work too much.
This episode would be very good opportunity for some serious moments between those two.
I like McKay/Sheppard episodes but my reason is only their friendship, in non-slashy way, sorry, Willow'sCat :cameron:;)LOL! I don't know some of my fave 'bits' of The Defiant One were the funny parts, I think we need a good balance between serious and humour, I am sure David and Joe are capable of both ;) and making the seamless transition between the two 'moments' when acting, it is more when the situation becomes silly that I find it less believable.

I just don't want 'slap stick' humour.

I understand and I agree. And you are right that David and Joe ara capable of both but slight problem....writers are not
I think when Martin Gero writes this one (yeah, I know your opinion but give the guy a break, he is doing the best he can :P:cameron:) it might be close enough. But I think they can never satisfy all fans. Especially when every fan wants something else ;) Just look at this topic. Some are thrilled that this is McKay/Sheppard episode, the other complain. ;)

From JM's August 23rd blog entry

On the work front: shooting continues on the big team-up eppy, finished the polish on Harmony, almost finished my producer's cut of Kindred I as I await the completion of the Previously On sequence, an exhausted Martin completed his latest (and last) rewrite of Trio, read the first draft of Outcast, and watched the episode with the engagement scene (I have a feeling the fans will love it).

 I do think that the ep has potential. We all know how important it is to succeed on a quest rite of passage. And i'm sort of looking forward to this ep. I think on paper, with the flirtation scenes etc, it could come across as meh... and I do wonder why the kid is the successor, and not the others? That bit has me curious, but McKay+ankle biters = great entertainment

And we have the Genii :D oooooh angst potential. I do think the flirtation scenes will literally be a two minute scene of the boys enjoying being chatted up, and then that's going to be it. I just hope there's no sign of a Dutch house though

Absolutely, another Dutch village scene would be a bit irresponsible don't you think? ;) And what's wrong with big boobs in little clothing? :P For me, and the whole Irresponsible scene of villagers, put me off well and truly. I know it was done as a flirtation, I get that, but please no village scenes like the ones we saw. I like to see villagers a bit more athosian like, with a bit of realism, especially with the chance of Wraith around every corner. I just can't see women, being that girly all the time... with that sort of threat looming over them. But, maybe that's just me. Keeping on topic, ive a feeling it's going to be more medieval ala The Tower scenery, rather than the Dutch Village.

 *runs to catch up* I quite like the villagers that are like Middle Earth, but i'm assuming.. and it really is a big assumption. Given that they have Queens, princes... a kingdom of sort, i'm expecting to see the type of period costume associated with Earth's era... even though it's in the PG  Given the royality, I am hoping that they'll be more advanced in their society and may have progressed from showing too much flesh. But, well, if the boys want a bit of eye candy, let them have their moments. We get eye candy all the time. :D

It's just all-Harmony, all-the-time today:

---Oh, on a serious note, now I was excited by the ep. Since I had no notions of some sort of "Kirking Orgy" going on as so many have made mention in past posts. The scenary makes for some seriously poignant scene shots which might actually intensify the story more so than some relatively light hearted ep.* I found Epiphany to be light hearted versus really meaningful in comparison to Letters from Pegasus, let's say. But the pics from JM and probably the filming time and the scenary can might be a way of letting us know that the emotions will be mounting and might prove to be a more mature outlook on the McShep pairing. The light hearted idiocy is sweet and endearing within, hmmm...3 eps, and after a while you want more from your leading guys if you get my meaning. Ronon for all his rough housing and taciturn gruff persona has proven to be a very sensitive character who has extremely powerful emotions not only within himself in relation to himself but also with the other cast members. I've been wanting to see more of that in the McShep pairing and really Common Ground didn't do it for me, I saw it more from John for Ronon in Sateda and Ronon for John in CG---but that's just me. So hopefully Harmony carries brings that forth if the story is going in such a direction anyway.

Thanks again PG.

* The above is pure conjecture and not based on fact, but things I'd like to see.

I finally made it to Widgen Park where Will was setting up the only scene we’d be shooting that day: scene 29, a seven and a half page complex monster. Arguing, stunning, fixing, shooting, running, jumping, falling. And that was just the behind-the-scenes goings-on. By the time lunch was called, we were running a little late but Will assured me he’d be making up time in the afternoon. Of course the best laid plans of mice, men, and determined directors can be completely undone by something as simple as an airplane flying over the location and ruining three successive takes.

Updates!!!

Well, today’s late call meant I could sleep in past 5:00 a.m. and not have to roll onto set until 11:00 a.m.-ish. They were just setting up the scene with special guest star and Extra correspondent Jerry Penacoli, a.k.a. Genii #3, a.k.a. Genii Jerry. Jerry was all smiles and laughs but the second Will yelled “Action!”, he was IN character - tensing up, quavering, and then hitting the dirt like Sir Lawrence Olivier as an after-sticked Julius Caesar. He even threw in a little finishing leg kick. Masterful!

We finished up the scene at the ruins a little before 8:00 p.m. at which point I was informed that we were moving. I packed away my camera, slipped my laptop into its case, tossed out my empty pudding can, then turned around…. Everyone was gone. And they’d taken the equipment with them. I was alone in the woods. Bewildered, I looked around to see if I could see which way they’d headed. A rustling in the brush behind me could well have been a meandering A.D. - but my first thought was “hungry cougar” and that was enough to send me quickly off in the opposite direction. I finally found a path that led me out of the forest and over to the trucks and trailers where the next scene was being set up: the late night search and sniff.

I returned home sleepy yet satisfied in the knowledge that this episode will surprise fans not unlike that enormous dead branch Techy Chuck leaned up against and sent crashing down onto the forest floor, mere inches from where I was standing.

I'm definitely getting more and more intruiged by this episode... particularly because in all the photos JM has posted we have a mixture of McKay and Sheppard with tac vests and P90s:

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f260/Alipeeps/SGA/SGA_Spoilers/Harmony/HarmmonyLocation20.jpg

Which leads me to random speculation about how they end up in the forest without their tac vest and guns (when they previously had them)... maybe the Genii succeed in capturing them at some point and they later escape but sans weapons etc...?

This picture in particular intruiges me..

http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f260/Alipeeps/SGA/SGA_Spoilers/Harmony/HarmonyLocation19.jpg

from the unhappy look on Harmony's face and the slightly stiff, kinda worried one on McKays, I find myself wondering if this is them having been captured and sitting at gunpoint?

Or of course, it could not be from shooting at all and just be a bored Jodelle and David waiting for their next scene to be set up!

Well they've done all the location shoot for all the scenes in the forest.. I guess they've still the remaining scenes (from spoilers, with Harmony's sisters etc) to shoot in the studio or at other locations... heh, probably on the ubiquitous village set, no doubt...

I love spoilers and I hate spoilers.

The first spoilers that came out left me a bit concerned about this ep. But I do love the pics that JM has posted.

I think this episode shows a lot of promise and from current appearances has many aspects of a storyline I will enjoy.

McKay & Sheppard are very competive in nature. I am beginning to thing that this competiveness plays into the original spoiler of them being smitten by the two older princesses. But I really like the idea of McKay & Sheppard being alone on the planet (no ohter team members) trying to protect someone and having to work together to survive. It may allow their relationship grow a bit as they will likely have to put aside their competetive nature and work together.

Yeah, now I was excited from the get-go, don't ask me why I liked it. I think it was the fact there would be a kid. I have a thing about kids in tv eps...it's always interesting to see how adults manage them on screen and how they relate with each other; I think that was the thing and then of course the fact the Genii are there...they're wicked cool.

But from the pics and the tidbits of what's going on has been getting me going even more. It's definitely an ep I'm looking forward too for other reasons besides the above, it seems a bit lighter than all the eps which seem very emotionally and pyshologically driven. I hope there is a bit of lightness anyway, it will be fun to see that on screen if there is, just to divert my attention from drama, so to speak. :D

Day #4 of shooting:

A late blog entry today as I was on location at Green Timbers for day #4 of Harmony. A very exciting outing today highlighted by an owl sighting that effectively shut down production. We were in the midst of setting up the next shot when somebody shouted: “Hey! It’s an owl!” And the next thing I knew, everyone had cleared out. I caught up with the crew beneath the large tree they had gathered around to gaze up at the magnificent bird. “Ooooh,”marveled one of the women from make-up. “Beautiful,”remarked an A.D. “I think I can hit it from here,”muttered a hopeful David Hewlett.

Eventually, the owl flew off and the disappointed crew grudgingly returned to work. Good thing too as we had a lot to get through today: six forest scenes which including a couple of crane shots for the “And why would they want to kill her?” sequence (I swear, that’s what it says on the call sheet) and some EXT. NIGHT. I’m pleased to report all went well and that, unlike yesterday, none of our actors came into contact with any poison oak. Yep, it was smooooth sailing…until around 7:30 p.m. when someone shouted “The owl’s back!” and everyone dropped what they were doing to go see.

Troublesome personality? A brat?:S

I am looking forward to this episode, I can´t wait to see some pure McKay/Sheppard episode. But I am afraid of The Tower 2...and I hope the girl won´t be too big brat. :(

This looks like it will be a really good episode. So far, I have liked almost all of Martin Gero’s episodes, so the odds are that I will like this one, too.

Sheppard, McKay and the Genii with a precocious princess to stir the pot. This one should rank high on my repeatability scale. :P;):D

If she's not in this one, that means she's in Outcast, and as that one is an Earth episode, that doesn't really make sense.

Actually, I didn't expect her to be in either of them until SoW aired.

Carter could be instrumental in Sheppard's decision.Sheppard has to find out about his dad somehow. I hope we see it and the decision to come back to Earth. Carter or McKay would have to tell him.

SGA – “Harmony”
To placate a valuable off-world trading partner, Sheppard and McKay agree to escort a young princess to a sacred temple as part of a rite of passage – unware o hfer troublesome personality or the enemies she’s made.

Hmm, can anybody say "Red Ryder"? ;)
Is Carter in Harmony?

I could see her in the beginning placating the valuable off-world trading partner.

Sheppard and McKay must have been the ones in plain view when the decision was made as to who would accompany the precious princess. Hard to see McKay on the mission any other way. On the other hand, there is a temple at the end of it…

I could see Carter possibly involved at the end because the Genii get involved.

Skipipng past the ads inserted in this thread ;).... the princess thing seems to always be dragged into every scifi show once writers start grasping for plots ;) And I dont think a single prince/princess exists in these storylines that doesn't start out as "opinonated" "brat" etc. that of course, becomes a better person once the heroes save them from some peril.

So many episodes to look forward to, but Harmony is high on my list.

Sheppard and McKay are my favorites. The one thing this season has been lacking for me is enough Sheppard and McKay. Put those two together with Gero and it’s got to be good.

If space battles are your thing, this isn’t the episode for you.
If you just got to have major story arcs, doesn’t look like this will satisfy you.
(Although, this may be the start of an arc with the Genii.)
If, for you, like me, this IS the Sheppard and McKay hour ;), Harmony will be perfect. :P:D

As for the humour, I agree we need humour, its one of the main reasons the Stargate franchise has been so successful BUT characters can be funny and goofy without looking like incompetent morons.

Like I said I really hope you're right and this is actually a good episode, I think the scenes once they are out in the woods and its just them and the kid will probably be quite fun but one or two cute scene do not a good episode make.

I agree that Gero's scripts can be hit or miss. I'll really like some and cringe at others. But as for humor, you can inject it into the worst situations as long as it's black humor, although if the situation is really dire let's poor ROdney doesn't curl up in a ball on the floor ;)
