Anyone else find it ironic that Edward James Olmos starred in Blade Runner? (Which by the why will be re-released into theatres in the fall?)

Irony - Edward James Olmos Starred in Blade Runner
Last edited by chyron; 04 July 2007, 12:41 PM."The Clarke Postulate - One's ability to correctly explain advanced theoretical thermodynamics as applied to string theory within a fictional context is directly related to one's ability to cook the perfect lemon chicken with mushrooms in a nice garlic butter sauce. While some use this unexpected correlation as proof of intelligent design, I believe that its all about the person's choice of mushrooms.
I also believe that there is a tear developing in the space-time continuum which if left uncheck will allow Microsoft to become a world power. I suspect that unless we all download Firefox 3 on the same day, thus sealing the tear, that life as we know it may be over and children will have their teddy bears and blankets ripped mercilessly from their arms.Tags: None

That's coincidental not ironic.
Ironic is having a love of books only to be kill by a falling bookcase.
Ironic is running everyday to keep fit only to die of a heart attack while running.
Ironic is an anti-capitalist sells anti-capitalism T-shirts for a profit.
Ironic is importing Cane Toads to Australia to protect the environment only to create worse environmental problems for Australia.

Blade Runner had no aliens, and EJO said he wouldn't do BSG if they had aliens, so if that's what you were hinting at I don't think so.
Other than that, what's ironic? Did he make a wise crack on Blade Runner or something? We're all missing whatever it is you're getting at."Did you really expect some Utopian fantasy to rise from the ashes?"

In both, the main antagonists are synthetically-created human-look-a-like beings who cannot be easily told apart from real humans and who's creation was rooted in desire to remove humans from dangerous work."The Clarke Postulate - One's ability to correctly explain advanced theoretical thermodynamics as applied to string theory within a fictional context is directly related to one's ability to cook the perfect lemon chicken with mushrooms in a nice garlic butter sauce. In Blade Runner the replicants were created to serve mankind in all facets (love, labor, legal, etc.), and only a handful were ordered to be terminated, and they just wanted to live, and ended up saving the main character in the end. And we know everyone that was a replicant. And the female lead was a replicant, who was a protaganist.
I still don't see the irony but I do see your connection. Olmos was also in Stand and Deliver, where he played a teacher and helped latino kids learn calculus so they could have a real future, so in a way he always plays some kind of role related to what his current role is."Did you really expect some Utopian fantasy to rise from the ashes?"

I have half the mind to have one of the moderators close this thread as obvious the point has been lost."The Clarke Postulate - One's ability to correctly explain advanced theoretical thermodynamics as applied to string theory within a fictional context is directly related to one's ability to cook the perfect lemon chicken with mushrooms in a nice garlic butter sauce. It is an interesting coincidence yes, agreed. Whether it's intentional or not is another matter. HOWEVER I reckon there's something in what you say because in the mini-series, there's a shot where you see him eating a bowl of noodles when somebody comes looking for him (forget who, Apollo?). Very much like when Gaff (EJO) finds Deckard at the Noodle stand.
So yeah, there's probably an homage to Blade Runner there.

It would be ironic if EJO turned out to be an android.

I've received word that my high school English teachers have put a bounty on my head. There sending Mr. Dasher to bring me to face Mrs. Clary, Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Rogers. Thank god Miss Bloom isn't around."The Clarke Postulate - One's ability to correctly explain advanced theoretical thermodynamics as applied to string theory within a fictional context is directly related to one's ability to cook the perfect lemon chicken with mushrooms in a nice garlic butter sauce.
