...what if...

Cassie had come to spend time with Sam at the SGC. We could have had some really neat scenes at the beginning perhaps establishing Cassie as having a harder time coping with Janet's death than maybe Sam and the others had believed.

Then during the Lockdown scenario, what if Cassie and Sam had had the chance to talk...since neither of them were going anywhere. And then of course, maybe a neat transition of Sam being taken over by Anubis while talking to Cassie, as in one moment she's emotional and loving, perhaps even hugging Cassie as they finally really talk about Janet and what losing her means to both of them. Maybe even Sam is smiling as she's embracing her and then turning darker for no reason whatsoever (both Cassie and we as the audience wouldn't understand at first what was happening) but then Sam would leave to do her Anubis thing.

This is just my postulating about a time during the first part of Season 8 when Sam and Cassie might have had a chance to talk.

I was trying to come up with times that they could have used Cassandra (played by the same girl from BANE - it took me long enough) in Season 8. Did you all not like my idea?

Are there other times perhaps that you could imagine them inserting a Sam and Cassandra substory in Season 8?

You know, for years I thought it must just be chilly down there under Cheyenne Mountain and that's why Sam wore those long sleeved tees. So what's happened in the last couple of years to force them into no sleeves? Did the new president cut the air conditioning budget? Did Siler mess up the venting system? Did Jonas crank up the heat, then take the key to the boiler room back to Kelowna with him? Did Walter forge signatures on orders telling all SG1 personnel to go sleeveless, because he's secretly into arm porn?

LOL - especially at 'arm porn'! Eeek, it's a naked arm! Sorry... getting a bit silly... Like I said earlier, I don't find the sleeveless T's objectionable - they don't look sexy to me at all. And I think they look OK as 'inside the mountain' clothes - it all seems pretty 'special forces, special projects informal' down there... when they wear the BDUs, they sure wear them sloppy... so it doesn't seem like a big step to the sleeveless T's. Hammond was the only one that I remember who wore dress blues most of the time... The rest of the folks seem to be wearing jumpsuits, worksuits, lab coats and BDU's.

I do understand that some folks are worried about the 'give them an inch and they'll take a mile' scenario... in other words, first it's arm porn and then there they are asking AT to dress up like Vala....

I agree with you about the nom for PDL for affinity - I was actually appalled that such a piece of dreck that basically skewered 2 of the main characters got a nom - its as if this will allow TPTB to say "see told you so - the fans are all wrong it was a great show". Yuck - I say the show sucked wind and a nom has nothing to do with character development or anything else relevant to the actual show and characters. I cannot for the life of me figure out why dreck like that would get a nom unless there were just very slim pickings in all categories this year, for example there are only 2 actresses up for Best Female lead, AT and the other one, so my guess is it was very slim pickings all the way around for credible nominations and some of the least credible (affinity) got in by way of default, IMO, of course.

None of the above. MS and CJ just started working out at the gym and developed these bulging muscles ... in between their part-time jobs as Chippendales. TPTB then decided to work their new physiques into the episodes.

I've thought to myself the past two seasons: "Self, have you noticed the noticeable increase in the size of Teal'c's upper arms? And isn't Danny boy (who started S1 as a poster child for the boy-who-gets-sand-kicked-in-his-face-at-the-beach) much buffer too?! Pray tell, what could be happening?"

It was then that I realized two solutions: daily trainer at the gym or steroids.

Now, as for AT ... I know she has a personal trainer but it doesn't seem to be affecting that part of her torso so much as the guys. And, since the fans have already written in that "Carter is hot", TPTB probably took that literally and allowed her to change into something more comfortable such as the sleeveless T.

Soon we may see Teal'c on the Discovery cable channel. He could probably stand next to one of those California redwoods and they could compare the age rings in the massive trunk to the layers of muscle that he's accumulated since S6-7. It would be very educational and thought provocative. If he continues to build muscle, he may next decide to leave his acting career and run for governor of the state of California.

Meanwhile, fanfic. I don't know what to do. After everyone's discussion on slash, I want to take it very carefully. I don't know why I am so wary of fic. It's just... well, I haven't read lots like you guys, and when it comes to things like slash... lets just say, I don't want to go there. For you all it's probably a matter of 'oh, just another slash fic', but, I guess I don't want to spoil my image of Stargate. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind if people write it, and I have nothing against it, I just don't want to read it.

that's why some folks can't read ship fic. they just can't see sam and jack in that way.

heck,t he first slash fic i read i had no idea what i was getting into. I thought it was like slasher, you know, gory horror type.

i've experimented reading most of the pairings out there. i think the only fic i really don't read is atlantis because i just can't get into the show in that way.

i really don't read anything now but sam gen, jack gen or ship, but i've read a few slash and femslash

for me, the alterations in thier characters that is necessary to make the relationship happen is just too much for me

in some of the femslash i've read, that's just not how i see the ladies. I don't see daniel as the week little baby either

Amen, sistah! I think Affinity scored the lowest ratings of the season ... very strange. It seems to lower the bar for that category and the Leos in general.

how do the leos work? do the shows put forth what they feel are best or do others choose?

if the show puts forth things, why not go for reckoning or threads? Why not gemini?

is there some time limit that said the nomination had to be from the first half of the season?

Hang tight ... I am wrapping up Head Trip in the next two weeks or so, and I do have an idea for a Samfic without the ship, especially for Agent Dark (who has been a good sport about reading my first attempt but who is not really a S/J shipper).

Watching Upgrades again tonight and I always loved the way Janet played mother hen in this episode and really gave it to Anise! And, yes, regarding fluff, Sam's hair was still the longest it had ever been (I think) and still not cut back for S4 and I did like her in this hairstyle - even though this particular episode she let it get all wild as she got more and more frenetic with her armband.

This is such a fun episode to watch - for the scene in O'Malley's alone. AT was sorry that the director did not shoot her famous pool shot wide angle so the complete shot of all the balls going in their pockets would have been seen on camera. That would have been a classic super Carter moment for the archives! And the look she makes when the wise guy at the bar says to Daniel "yeah, waddya gonna do about it?" is so funny. It happens quickly - just watch as she's reacting to this guy challenging Daniel. I love when Hammond says "the armbands were supposed to make them stronger, not stupid!" (paraphrase but you get my point)

BTW, what can this woman not do well?! She makes trick pool shots and delivers nine-pound babies and would probably pass a college physics course or two just from the knowledge she learned for her role! She's shy about playing her guitar in public ... yes, that's probably her modest self speaking. If she jams with RDA and Ronny Cox, I bet her playing is quite passable. Baby Olivia will have so many fun memories of her very special and gifted momma!
