How effective can Horizon be against the Wraith?

It has 6 nukes, and 4 decoys.

What if the main launcher had a personal shield? Upon breaking up into the missiles, they discard the launcher and the shields.

It may be impractical to build a shield that size ourselves until we demonstrate the tech to build more shield generators and we can build them easily so that destroying them won't cost us it's not possible to shield a missile...

the Wraith would intercept horizon before it got close one good dart shot and it's over...

yes but nevertheless if it hit the wraith hive, the damage would be great. plus its pretty damn fast...

Yeah if it hit the Wraith but that's an expensive and powerful weapon to throw away it's overkill...

it would be intercepted it's not that fast and it can only take out like 1 maybe 2 hives if they're in close like side by side formation it's not worth you might as well hit them with standard nukes

idea on how to beat wraith: ok so we cant beam nukes inside but beam nukes / horizon etc close to hangers/ other vital systems just outside jamming... darts are to far away to get there in time.

the jamming must extend far enough away to render beaming nukes close not an option otherwise it's pretty pointless, plus nukes lose most of there power in space there would be no shockwave etc...thus any nuke not being right next to the hive would do no damage

To beat the wraith there needs be either the element of surprise, or they need to develop energy-based weapons. The railguns are good against fighters, but they don't do a lot of damage against the Wraith hull or any form of shields.

so we make smaller horizons or other weapon launchers and beam them close so we can fire them into the hive...

the only reason the darts were able to intercept the missiles in 'no mans land' was because they were already out and flying besides the hives. If they used the same tactic again (firing as soon as the exit hyperspace) I doubt darts will have the time to intercept and the hive would go boom .

exactly even if the darts are out though we beam behind the darts so they cant get there and the closer to the hive the less time the darts have to intercept

yeah but not all hives travel alone and eventually they'll realise whats happening and then we're screwed

why will we be screwed if my plan works we can destroy all hives with ease no matter how many there are or what they are doing

rubbish...all hives with ease don't be silly they beat the ancients with better weapons than us you think we can simply fly around nuking hives without getting there attention what happens when a small fleet of Wraith ships realises what we're doing we can't take on more than 1 ship at a time...

you can't just beam nukes into space and expect them to fly, your plan doesn't work and Horizen is overkill against hive ships and it's a waste as we can't use them in large enough numbers to be effective...

not horizon, we use the type of nuke we used to beam inside hives, place 1 or 2 in a horizon launcher, beam close to a hive as possible where there are little darts and fire nukes fire inside hive and bang even if they are stopped by darts they will be close enough to do damage. then beam the launcher back repeat if nessisary.

i think the horizon would be pretty useless against the wraith .
it still wouldn't be able to get passed the screen of darts the wraith use to protect hive ships .
maybe if they were to launch 3 or 4 of them at the same time they would be lucky enough to get 1 nuke through the darts .
they'd be better off launching a standard nuke from a cloaked ship .
