Just watched it and there's something else that struck me as a reference to Stargate: Horizon.

Pretty sure this info isn't up yet, so big spoiler ahead.

    Spoiler:
The gate inside the satellite looks like it has 8 chevrons and is significantly bigger than a normal stargate. Spacegate anyone?

        Holy crap. That's a spacegate.

Yeah, I remember hearing somewhere a while back that someone had heard that the producers had said that it was a nod to Horizon. The name, I mean.

I have to say, that'd be freakin' awesome,. Too bad I can't find any direct confirmation.

It just looks like a normal stargate in space to me like in any of the other episodes that we've seen in Atlantis.
But... It does have eight blue thingies.

Not really. From Gaia's screen cap it looks normal, but in the episode we do get an impression of its size and it is way bigger than your average gate.

Yep. Honestly I think that's more of a nod to Stargate: Horizon than just using the word horizon to name something.

At first, I thought it was just the Midway station, but then I realised the shapely mass of a planet behind it.

I think the eight chevrons is a CG goof. According to the dialogue, it is a normal stargate encased in a satellite.

CGI is plummeting if thats the case, i mean comon theyve spent over a decade looking at the damn thing im sure theyve got a gazillion CGI models of it, the fact it has got 8 instead of 9 cheverons cant be a mistake.

And yet, they always seem to make the Stargate back to front. I think TPTB need to have a continuity talk with those CGI fellas.

There's a thread on this somewhere on the mainforum. One of the companies that handles the CGI regularly makes double sided 8 chevron gates apparently.

Another apparent Horizon connection is the revelation of the Atlantis gate tech's name - Chuck.

But this one may be a coincidence.

                            O'NEILL: Any time now.

Yeah, but that happens to be a coincidence. The actor who plays him is named Chuck, and Torri just kind of let that slip while they were filming and they kept it as the technician's name.

...But still no coincidental explanation for the weapon platform's name.
