There might even be one or two new episode titles in there. ;)

Or four. Man, where'd you learn to count? ;)

I'm liking the idea for the most part.

Well here's my prediction: "The Higher Plane" is something to with ascension. (states the obvious)
Hmm, maybe I'll leave the predictions to Ryu.

Yeah, this evolved pretty quickly actually, when we were talking on MSN one night. So over the next couple of days I put together an outline based on a story concept we had, and Josh then came up with a great new twist to the original story, which should be a lot of fun to see.

What happenned to extending the season to 26 episodes?

What happenned to extending the season to 26 episodes?

Well, like I said when that announcement was made it'll only work if we have enough writers, and unfortunately, while we do have a few, we also lost some others. So instead of trying to rush things to have 26 episodes, we decided to go with the regular 24.

Season Four will go into production in June (with breaking the first stories some time in May), to ensure we'll have a really great schedule then. So we need to wrap up the main writing of this season around late April to stay on schedule.

It really kind of fell all into place nicely, though. Because one of the additional episodes we were going to do wouldn't have really worked at this point, because it's thematically similar to another episode we're doing.

So right now it seems we're sticking with 24 episodes per season, which will also be more consistent.

Besides, a lot of people said it wasn't a big deal when we said we'd be doing 26. So we figured it wouldn't really matter either way. ;)

But seriously, it doesn't matter, because the show will go on for some time to come.

That is certainly interesting. The season finale is on my birthday. But my exact reaction was. Ahh! I have to wait eight weeks for Together We Stand. But a great birthday gift in one more episode of Horizon to read, hopefully I'll have time with my finals and all.:(

I too am still intested in doing perhaps a freelance episode for season four, but once again I have to see if I have the time to do one episode.

Thanks, that's greatly appreceated.

When the time comes we'll be looking for a couple of additional writers, so I'll definitely be keeping you in mind.

That sounds great. Like I said in the post above, we'll be looking for additional writers (freelancers and one or two staff writers) around May and June. So I'll keep you guys in mind.

That does sound great. But once again it will probably a no, because of school work, and comunity service hours that I am likely to have to do over the summer. However if I were to do one it would likely have to be an early one. Eiether June or July. This brings up the point. How long does it take to write the first draft of an episode of Horizon?

This brings up the point. How long does it take to write the first draft of an episode of Horizon?

That really depends on the episode and on how much time a writer has to work on it. Each episode is different, but once the outline is done, I'd say the average time for writing a first draft is anywhere between one or two weeks.

But there've been exceptions where both Mike and I have written complete first drafts in just a couple of days. And I think the longest I've ever worked on a first draft must have been about a month. So it really depends on a lot of things. But one or two weeks is the average. And I think especially if it's someone's first episode for a series, a writer might be able to use some additional time whenever possible.

Two more weeks to go, two more weeks to go. Ahhh! The mid-season hiatus got longer again.

Yeah, the reason for the holdups is actually 3.10. If only we had that, 3.11, 3.12, 3.13, 3.14, 3.15, and 3.16 are all pretty much ready to go.

But Alex has just wrapped up the draft, and the reason for the further pushback is that we need more time to look over it. It won't matter after March 8th, however, since the mid-season two-parter will have both its episodes released then and we'll be caught up to where we would have been with a Feb. 15 release.

Since the draft of 3.10 is practically ready, we can guarentee the Feb. 22 date is final and set in stone.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Even longer now that is absouloutly not good. Although I have a feeling that The Unit tried something similar, they recently has gone into hiatus, then on tuesday they came out with a two hour episode, although those two had absouloutly nothing to do with the other. Unlike Horizon which is a mid season two parter.
Any way this is also a somewhat, minor blessing, my Personal Project, which is the interview that I did with Alex Rubit in October I think it was. Anyway my presentation is on the twentieth, so it has gone on from before, to close to before, to now after, that way I don't have anything to distract me on my quest to perfect my presentation and get it all ready for the twentieth. But saying that it is sooo painful to have to wait, the live action gate is not on till April sixth, and now Horizon has been pushed back even more, I want my Horizon!!!:sholva:
Which brings me to my point, why has the episode taken so long.

Yeah, we apologize for the extra wait; however, I do think the episodes that are coming up will be worth the wait. And I'm just speaking from a fan's point of view. The mid-season two parter is in my honest opinion one of the very best two parters we've ever done. And airing it as a two hour special should definitely make for a memorable event.

I was actually going to make a post about the change in the release schedule today, but it seems you've already noticed. ;)

Which brings me to my point, why has the episode taken so long.

It just took a very long time to get the story to work, and it was changed several times. Definitely one of the most difficult episodes we've done. I have a feeling if we were a TV show, this would be an episode that we'd still be rewriting while we're actually shooting it. Which means the poor actors will be getting revised script pages the night before the scenes are shot. But since they're all pros, I'm sure it wouldn't affect their performances. :cameron:

But seriously, I can't really go into details without spoiling the episode, but suffice to say I'll be talking about all of that on the podcast as well, once the episode is out.

Well, there's always things evolving and things being changed around. And that includes episode titles.

I've just revised the titles that were changed. One of them being the one for episode 14, which used to be called "Adrift." However, to avoid having two Stargate episodes with the same title (see the Atlantis Season Four premiere), we've finally come up with another title for our episode.

And you'll also find the title of episode 19, as well as the return of "The Higher Plane." The return of the title that is. Gotta wonder, could that episode have something to do with ascension? ;)
